match up wise which fight do you think victor Ortiz has the better chance of winning?
no fanboys we know both of these are the best in the world and Ortiz would be the big underdog just let us know which upset is more likely
Hard to say, I can't see him beating Mayweather or Manny but Pacquiao seems to have a better chin than Floyd, even though he is more willing to engage.
I got Pacquiao by early KO and Mayweather by late TKO/ Wide UD
Ortiz would have a better chance at beating Mayweather, definitely. Ortiz is young and never too late for him to improve his game. What I saw in the Berto fight was mental toughness and preparedness in dealing with any eventuality like kd's. He was determined to grab the belt and saw it being wrapped around his waist. He may display the same toughness against Pac, but Pac's punches would disorient him early on and discard any offensive game he may have planned. After feeling Pac's "power" it would all be defense for him from then on. A KO/TKO would then be imminent.
With Ortiz's blitz krieg style, Floyd would be forced to brawl in this fight. This is not a sure win for Floyd. It's 50/50 for me. That's why both are expected to be exciting fights. Pac needs to pursue this fight before May takes it.
Well, this thread was started yesterday. It needs to be bumped then.
Just like how young and at the peak of their prime guys like Clottey, Margarito, and 39 year old Shane Mosley with a 50 cent piece size blister on his foot and a torn ACL couldn't make it past four rounds. Yup, all those top ranked, young and hungry guys at the TOP OF THEIR GAME couldn't get past 4 rounds vs Pac.
Mosley didn't want to fight after the knockdown, his own corner even said so.
Clottey is a big welter with a tight shell defense.
Margo has a chin, heart, and determination out of this world.
Although I agree that Ortiz would make it past 4 rounds, I just don't see the reason in bringing these fighters names into the debate. There were reasons they all made it past the 4th round. Not like they are all three bums that should have been KO'ed by the 4th...Or even stopped.
Let me ask you this ( now keep in mind I agree with you about the forth round thing, this is just a question)...
What do you think would happen if Ortiz was hit with the punch Shane was hit with in the third? You think Ortiz would run and lose all will to fight? Or do you think he would stand his ground? I think he would stand his ground. Leaving the door open for a early and easy night for Pac.
Now lets say that Ortiz was to cover up all night like Clottey. How long would you expect him to last? In all honesty, I would say 4 rounds at the most.
Lastly, let say that Ortiz took the punishment that Margo began to take from round 2, and on. How long do you see Ortiz lasting? Also I think Margo's eye got jacked in the 4th (if memory serves). Just remember (from Ortiz himself) he deservs better....
My point is, Ortiz is none of those 3 fighters. Ortiz is young and hungry, and very skilled. He also likes to bang. This could lead to and early night, or give Pac hell, and take the fight deep into the later rounds...Where he may even shock the world.
Nothing that happened in those other 3 fights, with the 3 fighters you mentioned, has any barring on what might happen in an Ortiz/Pac fight.
Ortiz makes it out of the 4th though.
voted pacquiao, i just think it's a bad matchup for pacquiao, he's not used to fighting southpaws (neither is victor, but it takes away each others comfort zone of fighting orthodox fighters), and what you have left is Ortiz who is bigger and stronger than Manny, and they will trade and exchange
Manny could easily knock him out, but I think Ortiz could KO Manny too during those exchanges
Floyd doesn't take risks and would just survive on points
Wouldn't be boring like the JMM/Floyd fight, it'd be more like the judah fight with a little more action since Ortiz isn't going to just stop fighting back like Judah did
I'd like to see just one of these match ups. Would like to see how Pac and Floyd would deal with the pressure he applies. Think he would give Floyd more problems.
It's difficult to say. Manny likes to bang and Ortiz has alot of power in both hands, he could catch Manny coming in and finish it with one punch. Problem is that the reverse is also true. Ortiz slugged alot with Berto and was wide open alot of the time.....Manny could also poleaxe him with a good shot.
Floyd might outbox and frustrate Ortiz with his straight right hand and superior judge of distance. Ortiz doesn't really jab that much, he may have problems getting close to Floyd consistently. On the other hand Floyd usually finds it harder to get his offense going against SP's unless he fights aggressively, and he has shown a propensity to get caught against SP's and Vic has power in both hands.
Ortiz presents challenges to both men, that's why everyone is talking about Ortiz vs Manny vs Floyd. Ortiz is bigger than both of them at 147, throws alot of punches (is a SP, so no SP advantage for Manny), has 12 round stamina, showed a much improved beard against Berto (because he didn't drain down to make weight), and can punch with power from both hands and mixes up his attack (right hooks and uppercuts, straight lefts, uppercuts and hooks).
Both are compelling fights IMHO.
Actually, Arum had mentioned Ortiz for Pac even weeks before the GBP apology and even before Schaefer was said to have cooperated in making the Marquez trilogy. So I wouldn't be surprised if this is the next fight for Pac, assuming Mayweather will never come out of hiding.
This fight is more likely to happen than the Pac/Bradley fight in the Arum camp.
Lol, at all these delusional Pacroid and Gayweather nut huggers. When was the last time either those fools fought someone like Victor Ortiz?
Lets see Pacquiao's most recent opponents; flat footed, slow, and weight drained.
Now Mayweather's most recent opponents; lightweights, light welterweights, past prime, and senior citizens.
Thats right, Victor Ortiz represents the exact opposite of Manny and Floyd's requirements for an opponent. He would expose them. Thats why they keep ducking him and will continue to duck him till they retire.
Vicious Victor Ortiz destroys both by TKO.:boxing:

Floyd, because styles makes fight.
Floyd like to boxe, not to brawl. He had more problem with pressure fighter. Lost to Castillo once. Nobody can outbox him.
Pac is the best brawler out there. Nobody can win if they want to exchange with Pac.
Ortiz won't pass 4 rounds againt Pac. He can finish the fight againt Floyd and have a puncher stance like Mosley. Both beat him easy.

Neither.
Pacquiao clubs him like a baby seal, David Diaz style and KOs in the mid rounds.
Floyd wins a lopsided UD.
People need to stop with the overrating of Ortiz. Good young, B class fighter but it was just last year that he was only the #7 ranked guy in a talented JWW class. He was dominated and quit against a C fighter in Maidana and arguably lost to Peterson. Beating an even more overrated and untested glass-jawed, no stamina having Berto does not mean you can give those guys any trouble in the ring.
Victor should focus on Aydin, Senchenko, etc guys like that. He's too young to be taking a beating like that (again).
Come on man, Maidana is a B class fighter and a top contender and tough fight for ANY of the elite 140 lb fighters.
