Some of you may think it's crazy, but that would probably be because your image of Gamboa is still the solis fight.
I think Garcia can win this fight because of one thing......consistency. Mikey Garcia is such a fundamentally sound boxer-puncher...he's an absolute technician with pop. And he has no problem fighting at a methodical yet effective base.
Gamboa, in case people forget, has serious lapse issues. He takes rounds off and just has mental lapses. Against a guy as consistent and skilled as Garcia, that's going to be very difficult to get away with.
Now we don't know what kind of chin Garcia has yet, he can easily get caught in finished. But over the distance of a 12 round fight, I think Garcia can put in a workmanlike effort and break Gamboa down because yes........at the end of the day, he's more skilled than Gamboa. People mistake skill for athleticsm all the time.
Based on what I've seen in recent times, I'd fear Garcia might emerge victorious in this match-up. Gamboa was inactive for fifteen months. Upon his return, he was a little rusty. No biggie, but Yuri looked even worse in his second fight back from hiatus. In the meantime, Mikey has looked formidable, like he's come of age.
On the other hand, although Garcia is a very fundamentally sound boxer, he's a manufactured fighter. Gamboa is an athletic freak, a force of nature. He was born that way, and honed by the Cuban amateur system. If Yuri gets a real trainer (his father has trained him for his last two fights) and gets motivated, he might just be able to pull this off. If Gamboa can't get those two things straight, he's in trouble.
Mikey would eff Gamboa's world up
Gamboa isn't ready for someone like Mikey. I firmly believe any version of Mikey beats any version of Gamboa. Mikey is a killer with impeccable accuracy
Yeah,I think in a year or 2 Mikey beats Gamboa.I'd pick him if they fought tomarrow.Gamboa is very athletic but he gets hit too much.Much more than Mikey,Mikey got hit last saturday from a taller fighter, that happens.Mikey is better fundimentally & in boxing fundimentals usually beat out shear athletisism when 2 elite fighters face off.
uh oh somebody's buttons were pushed.. didnt meant to hurt your feelings dawg, my bad
nah man i'm so fuming right na...nahmean holmes? I'm finna smash **** up :grr:

Mikey Garcia, no doubt, is a very fundamentally sound fighter that has a very solid 1-2 punch combination. However, he was still getting caught by Rafael Guzman who took the fight with 2 weeks notice.
It'll be interesting to see how he deals with the crazy speed and athleticism of Gamboa. If Guzman could hit Mikey Garcia, imagine what Gamboa can do...
With that said, Gamboa tries to be too flashy with his hands-down defense which cost him a knockdown against Salido. If he doesn't keep those hands up, he'll have trouble with Mikey Garcia.
lol at this mexican mutual masturbating fest.. honestly, garcia is great, a fighter with a bright future.. but please
Me :wank: You :bukkake: ok now...bye bye
btw this is a fight id like to watch... garcia and john are the only people worth mentionning against gamboa. but unfortunately, bob won't give it to us. garcia, being a young mexican talent, has too much value. bob will NEVER risk him against gamboa.. maybe when gamboa will be 36 or something like that.. but unfortunately this is a fight we won't see while gamboa is in his prime :(
As much as I like Garcia, I just don't see him beating Gamboa right now. You make good points though but I just can't see it.
I just think he would stay in his envelope and box. He seems really mentally strong to me(relationship with his brother/trainer prob helps).
I really think Garcia is already the best FW...I may be going out on a limb, but I just think he's by far the most complete fighter in the division.
