This is the easiast fight of all teh top 168lbs fighters for martinez and sadly, fans would consider it the TOUGHEST fight for him because people think Bute is the best in the division.
First.. Bute looks terrible against southpaws. Part of this is because Bute is a 1 trick pony.. Against C+, B level competition he has looked ordinary and even bad in spots up until he's landed his counter uppercut. Hell.. evan against Miranda, miranda was looking damn good from the outside until Bute landed that Counter upper to the stomach, then Miranda decided to showboat.. then walk into the same upper to the head.
His upper, though, is much harder to land on a fighter who isn't in a conventional stance.. against someone who is fast and moves well.. i'd imagine he'd probably never land it at all.
Bute has been ordinary everywhere lately, watch the brian magee fight. An easy guy to counter but he failed at doing so until late primarily because he is in a Southpaw stance.
He pawed his jab pimarily, was easy to hit, and didn't commit to any combinations.. just banked on that one trick. I think, assuming he avoids being uppercutted for 12 rounds, Martinez out maneuvers and out works Bute, they should seriously be pushing for this IMO.
How is anyone underrating Bute? I stated the facts. he's a 1 trick pony. That 1 trick happens to be incredible - it's put down everything it's hit.. but up until it's landed, Bute has looked ordinary or less than ordinary.
Nah man cant agree with ya there he is probably one of the best body punchers in the game along with his uppercut as you say and when he elects to them he punches well in combos. With all that said he seems to have developed a punchers mentality in that all he feels he has to do is land that one punch which is a bad state of mind to have.I think the 8 pounds would be too much for Sergio i could see Bute not being affected by Sergios punches he would be a little bothered by the handspeed but i think he could slow Martinez down with his body punching just my opinion
Jesus if nsb aint overrating fighters its underrating them.

Calzaghe really hurt Kessler to the body in their fight, I wonder if Bute could maintain they smoke in mirros in their bout.. Or will Kessler be a little more adept at anticipating such a shot.
I love kessler. He seems to be "pushing" a lot of his punches now and is missing that snap. I've never seen him spin his opponent after attacking. He either moves his opponent back, clinches, or attacks then just takes a step back. He never seems to move laterally and he leaves his hands out a bit too long lately (with his pushing shots)
I do see him eating a few uppers. I'm really curious about this fight.. because although kessler seems to be tailor made for Bute (a lot of jab/straights in his arsenal for bute to get under) he also likes for his opponent to be at teh very end of his punches so he'd never actually be close enough to eat a lot of butes best counters.
It's an interesting match style wise.
Just think this one through, taking everything into consideration, how much of a chance would anyone here give Martinez of beating Bute?
Me, I think Bute is very limited, what makes him extremely dangerous is that left uppercut of his, despite that I still can't see Martinez beating him.
But, moving up to 168, a limited bute would be the best "top" opponent for martinez. He has just the right ammount of flaws for martinez to exploit and is dangerous in that 1 area which is negated a lot by martinez being a southpaw and by him being the faster of the two in hand and foot.
If he were to move up, it'd be his best option for a victory.. and to the public, it would seem like he beat the very best of the division. As i said.. assuming he can go 12 without eating the upper, I think he wins soundly.
I'd like to see it

bute is too big for serg anyway.
serg needs to fight guys his own size like cotto , mayweather and pacquiao.
Cotto is actually Martinez's size at this point, i'd argue mayweather is too. The man is only 3 fights removed from 154, not even an entire year yet either. Come on.

bute is not a challenge.
serg needs to fight chavez jr.
LOL! You can't be serious bro. Regardless, the step up would be the p4p move fans have been saying martinez needs to make. And regular fans would be tricked into thinking Martinez just went up and beat the best in the division, he'd get serious praise.
As for Chavez.. lol. That's not even a competitive fight, not even close. If he let Matinez hit him teh way Zbik did, it would be very very sad.
As for Chavez's body attack.. notice they all came maybe 3-4 seconds after he was able to get into Zbiks chest or stand forehead to forehead and unload. Martinez doesn't sit still long enough the way Zbik did, for Chavez to ever get started on doing that retarded crap.
It's not a close fight at all.
