It looks like the numbers are official at 1.3. I know the jokers and haters thought it would do worse but no one really believed it would do under a million that knows boxing. My issue is that CBS had no impact as this is close to the HBO numbers he has been doing with de la hoya, cotto and margarito. I hope they go back to HBO for Pac vs Marquez 3 as it could still do good numbers and be an actual good broadcast.

That fight did not sell 1.3 million PPVs. If it had, Arum would have allowed Showtime to release the numbers. I doubt if that fight broke 700,000 PPV buys.
Considering they had CBS air fight camp 360 after 60 minutes should tell you the money that was put into this fight wasn't worth it. He needs to fight Mayweather and stop fighting washed up bums.
My goodness what is wrong with you people? Think about how many PPVs have ever done more than 1.3 million buys. There aren't many.
A failure, that's just incredibly dumb hating. Get a life.
1.3 mil is impressive. That said, given the CBS promotion and advertising everyone expected more. Manny is always called the "face of boxing" "most popular" etc. I find it interesting from a PPV sales perspective that floyd mayweather jr. generally exceeds expectations yet MAnny doesn't live up to expectations.
To be fair 1.3 mil for a terrible fight is damn good.
What's up with you retards arguing over who has more PPV buys? Flomo this, Pactard this. It's like a circus for the down syndrome in here.
I feel you. Ever since Floyd and DLH broke the record, the battle of the box office has become a bonafide argument for some fans. Pac and Floyd both do incredible numbers and that should be it. My only knock on the Pac fans are them using numbers as a way of "one upping" Floyd. Any time the guy you're "sticking your tongue out" at holds the record and does better numbers against common opponents, you should just be happy that Pac (or any boxer for that sake) is able to do his numbers and keep it moving. When Pac fans start wolfing about it, it just reeks of desperation. Leave the numbers game alone and sit back and enjoy the fights.
Even if they didn't meet certain expectations, some outright ridiculous, 1.3+ million buys is a massive success. No one in their right mind expected 2-4 million buys for fights against Shane Mosley. Don't know how it can be construed to be a failure in any way, shape, or form though. But if that helps you sleep at night to believe that, go nuts.
A massive success? It would've done those #'s minus the switch and immense propaganda.

lol at this haters guessing 900k max , some even had the balls to call it 600k
flomos owned!!!!! manny is now the face of boxing!!!
Constantly being outperformed at the box office against common opponents, even with an exaggerated promotional push this time around, now equates to being the face of boxing? Umm...ok.
Good numbers for a bad fight. Showtime/CBS brought exposure to this fight. CBS/Showtime did there job I'n the marketing department, yet they are still way behind HBO In production, lighting, and commentary In boxing. Its kind of odd that it took so long to bring these figuires out.
PAC vs JMM 3 needs to generate more.

Why are you bringing up Mayweather-Mosley? To point out that like Pacquiao-Mayweather, it didn't hit expectations? Why yes, I agree! :lol1:

i consider it a success given it's over a million, but CBS has four times the viewership of HBO, and Manny had a prime time 60 minutes slot and still couldn't outdraw a guy who supposedly isn't a draw and people ONLY pay to see lose.....but fair play to Manny he is a BIG drawcard.
I'm not saying it's a failure. I said according to their model it's a failure. Quite frankly, I hope any sh*tty fight fails because that's the only way we'll get some good ones.
1.3 million PPV buys is considered a failure, huh? What would you call this then?
Schaefer calling for four million PPV buys!
Most astute boxing writers think the Shane Mosley-Floyd Mayweather fight will do huge numbers on pay-per-view. Numbers in excess of 1.5 million PPV buys would be deemed a success. According to Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer is dreaming big. He says according to many of their projections, four million is a possibility.
Before you scoff, how many people thought Mayweather's fight against Juan Manuel Marquez would do one million? Now four million is an incredible number, but with the power of Mayweather's "Money" persona, new marketing techniques, increased media exposure and unique promotions like the one with DeWalt tools, boxing is breaking barriers when it comes to getting people fired up about it mega-fights.

For a fight that was universally panned, an 8-1 betting mismatch, against a guy coming off a lopsided loss and a lackluster draw, I'd say 1.3 mil is pretty damn good. If that's the tally for a boycotted garbage fight, just imagine what a popular fight like Pac-JMM would do with the same promotional model (tweaked a bit for more regular time slots for the Fight Camp on CBS, 9AM on the west coast isn't exactly ideal and more commercials wouldn't hurt). 1.5 million buys isn't at all farfetched IMO.
Then again, it's Ben Thompson from Fight Hype with the usual unnamed 'sources' feeding him info, so take that with a grain of salt.
If true, that means Pac and Cotto have tallied about 1.6 million PPV buys this year since the move to SHOWTIME, with Cotto's 250K buys at least doubling the combined buys for all HBO PPVs this year. You think maybe they're regretting turning Cotto-Martirosyan? :lol1:
Top Rank would be foolish to go back to HBO. Just wish they would use the increased exposure to push other fighters as well. Brandon Rios became a star after he stole the show on the Pacquiao-Margarito 24/7 and Khan has gotten some air time on the program as well.

According to the Showtime/CBS model, anything less than 1.5m was considered a failure.

And Dibella can't even make a PPV fight to save his sorry a55 reputation as a PROMOTER for Sergio Martinez.
Garry Shaw ain't making no PPVs for Timothy Bradley.
Golden Boy Promotions made a PPV and it stank up the place like no other 50,000 PPV buys with the similar situation as Pacquiao vs Mosley. STILL, Pacquiao vs Mosley did 1.3M PPV buys.
Eat sh1t and die FLOMOS and jealous pricks of so-called promoters. floyd on vacation keeps falling from being a PPV attraction. Pacquiao now leads in the most PPV buys averaging a million plus a year. You can't say the same for other fighters.
At least, Cotto made 250,000 PPV buys. Where you at FLOMOS? Tell me who made money for his fighters and who is the better PROMOTER?
