In my honest opinion, I think prime Hatton takes a prime Cotto based and his ability to take punishment, chin, better footwork and body shots (but only just)
Neither guy would be walking out of that ring without at least a cracked rib or two. A real favourite fantasy fight of mine this one.
What do you guys think?
I would have loved to see this war right here..As much as I wanna say Hatton I would have to say I think Cotto win's this fight..But I would have been rooting for Hatton tbh..
For some one who would beat a prime Ricky Hatton easily, Miguel Cotto sure didn't make his wins over Corley and Torres look easy. Prime Ricky Hatton was a whole different beast than Corley and Torres.
I got Ricky Hatton by TKO.
Sorry, I doubt Cotto could have hurt Hatton with the way Hatton took those brutal punches form Tszyu and just kept coming. And if the fight was in England where Hatton could wrestle Cotto down as much as he wants, forget it, Cotto is not a clincher and is very uncomfortable fighting inside.
Regardless of whether it was his best weight or not,Cotto was in a different class to Hatton.Far more technically sound, and much too varied an arsenal for the one-dimensional and limited Hatton to deal with.
Hatton was always sorely reliant upon him being bigger and stroger than his opponent for him to impose his will upon them.In Cotto,he's dealing with somebody who was even more physically imposing at the weight than he was.
Prime Cotto didnt fight @ 140, but Cotto @ 140 still wins due to the fact he is the more athletic fighter tho I think it would be one helluv a fight, I'd think Cotto KO/TKO's Hatton in 10 rounds or less.
lol @ the ricans. sure cotto would beat hatton at 147 and 154, but at 140? not so sure. there was a reason as to why hatton had the ring magazine belt and cotto didnt at 140. for those claiming a prime hatton had no chin, obviously have not seen the tszyu fight.
Why are people failing to read "at 140lbs" in the title. Current Cotto is still better than 140 Cotto, 140 Cotto wasn't half the fighter he was at 147.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about. You probably saw Cottos last 3 fights at 140. And Cotto was never hurt by Malignaggi....some people here are unbelievable. They see Cotto coming in and getting knocked off balance a little by a right hand and it's automatically "oh he got hurt, his chin is sh!t" blah blah.
Cotto, at his best at 140(Bailey, Pinto) would give Hatton a horrific beating. By the 3rd round Hatton's face would be a a swollen mess just from Cotto's jab landing at will. That alone is something that people don't realize...Cotto is a heavy, heavy puncher...he makes fighers who don't normally swell swell....let alone a guy like Hatton. This is not competitive at any weight. There's just a gap in talent levels that's too hard to ignore.
This would look like Hatton vs Urango except Hatton would be in shape, does much better against conventional stance, and Cotto can't take a punch but in exchange can land a little better than Urango.
MAYBE, at best, Cotto can score a knockdown. Doesn't have the power for a KO, doesn't have the chin (or more accurately, the ribs) to last in a real war, and can't play keep away to buy time.
Hatton KO in maybe 6 with a body punch to the weight drained Cotto.
Cotto by KO. A current Cotto would be a close fight with a prime Ricky Hatton. I like Miguel Cotto as a championship fighter. He could beat hatton. And WILL beat Antonio Margirito in September.

;10626913']Prime Hatton had a chin against decent fighters. Cotto is on a whole different level than a past his prime Castillo. Did you not see the Collazo fight? Hell even Lazcano hurt him with a left hook. He just doesn't see them coming.
The Collazo fight was at 147 and Lazcano? we are talking about prime Hatton here Lazcano did not face anywhere near a prime Hatton both fights are irrelevant in deciding the outcome of this fight.
I can't see past Miguel in this fight.
Ricky's constant come-forward style saw him absorb a lot of punches and he never had much technique, his big shots were always wide hooks. Miguel has a terrific jab which I think would be the key to the fight, it's very stiff and very accurate which could offset Hatton.
Miguel also has better footwork, he's more skilled and he's a more intelligent fighter. Really exciting fight though.
hmm, Im actually going to go with Hatton on this one. And this is a prime Hatton against Kostya, not the version that fought Mayweather, Lazcano or Pacquiao.
Cotto was brittle at 140lbs, and Hatton was a bull. Hatton's biggest weakness is running into punches...he has so much forward momentum that his opponents easily can use it against him, and he basically amplifies their punches by running into them. However, Cotto doesnt deal with pressure too well, and wouldnt catch Hatton with those kind of shots too often...Cotto mostly has to lead, at least thats what he had to do at 140lbs.
I think Hatton would outmuscle the drained 140lb Cotto and wear him out late. Maybe not a stoppage, but Cotto would be exhausted and Hatton would start sweeping rounds with his tenacity. Hatton didnt have much, but he actually was a pretty good body puncher, and that could also have drained Cotto.
Ricky Hatton had a much better chin than people give credit for.
After the M.Hatton Vs. Alvarez fight people actually tried to claim Matthew has a better chin than Ricky :lol1: :lol1:
There is such an amassment of clueless people on these boards.
Prime Hatton was only about for one night - against Tszyu.
He may of won the fight but he was never the same fighter.
He peaked that night IMO.
And to the ****ing muppets saying he had no chin. He took punches that night that would of put a rhino to sleep.
And i don't even like the guy.
That would have been one hell of a fight. I would have to say cotto but by a very slim margin. Ricky s pressure would give him problems but I think cotto would end ricky late.

Hatton was a shell of his former self when he fought Collazo. He was way past it at that point and was nowhere near the fighter he was before.

Are you stupid Prime Hatton walked through the punches of one of the hardest hitters the 140 division has ever seen. Prime Hatton had no chin? GTFO you retard.
