Why is this taking place? And this is from a Cotto fan. Cotto wasnt this unbeatable boxing Demon, even in his prime.
So now Im seeing things like a Prime Cotto waxes Berto, Williams, Ortiz, a Prime Mayorga, Forrest, Prime Mosley, Prime Mayweather etc.
Stop it. He had more than enough flaws to take plenty of L's. Questionable chin, no defense for right hands or uppercuts, he cant fight off the ropes and he doesnt like pressure.
He was a good fighter in his prime. He wasnt that freakin good. And this is froma guy who loves Cotto.
So lets all stop the overrating of Miguel Cotto. Lets stop propping him up as this unbeatable force. Thanks fellas.
I wasnt joking, he wasnt THE Champ but he held a title which is more than JLC ever did at LWW and i rated Holt at the time, he's still dangerous and im sure he gives Hatton plenty to worry about with that power he packs, remember Ricky got rocked bad by Lazcana Dropped HEAVY by Eamen Mgee and was hurt to the body vs Urango amongst other times getting hurt or stopped. He was a force against Tszyu but admitted himself he never tasted the Full power as he got so close and Kostya's power was on the end of his punches
To be fair to Hatton he had more than enough to hurt Cotto at 140.
lol...ok. im not sure if ur joking but i guess u get something for going life and death for a decently regarded kendall holt. but the title was just paper. we both kno that.

Burner: at 140 I would still go with Cotto in a war, at 147 its not even close. Cotto kills him. Dempsey: no way Mosley was as washed up as Tszyu. Dude went on to damn near kill Tony and became the #1 welterweight in the world. Margarito was exposed as a cheating f*g but still, Mosleys career wasn't over after he lost to Cotto.
i whole heartedly agree that he shane wasnt washed up at all. but why do u think kostya was? he had been on a huuuuge roll. knocking dudes out left n right, including an up n coming, highly regarded judah about a year b4 that fight. if anything, if u compare the two at the time i think most would say that hatton fighting kostya was much more dangerous than cotto fighting mosely.
we dont know what kostya had left, he retired. so all i have to go off of is his previous performances. and he did not at all look like he was shot.
to me, those do not rate as good wins. i mean what has randall bailey and ricardo torres done since their losses to cotto? i kno hindsight is always 20/20 but both those fighters have completely disappeared...well bailey lost to urango...but besides that, nothing. chop chop...well i dunno. i like him but hes never been seen as being worth much either.
Torres became champ
With those 2 out its:
Cotto:
Shane Mosley
Zab Judah
Ricardo Torres
Carlos Quintana
Paulie Malinagii
Joshua Clottey
Randall Bailey
Chop Chop
Hatton:
Kostya
Collazo
Urango
Paulie

Idk Boxeo.
I always liked Hatton ina head to head fight with Cotto at 140.
The pressure, foot work, power. I think would be too much for Miguel. Cotto had that shaky chin as well at 140. I like Hattons chances alot.
Only at the end when he was starting to feel the weight making process did Cotto have chin problems and guess what he pulled through after being hit with FAR Harder punches than Hatton could deliver.
People need to remember how tight everything used to be with Miguel - chin to chest, gloves up, perfect form and balance and he always brought his hands back correct after throwing, only later did he get a bit less patient and KO hungry then things got a little bit less organised. His chin was solid too when he did actually get caught clean, Bailey for example was a HUGE Right hand puncher and he bounced one straight off Miguels chin with zero effect. They used to rave about Cotto's technique and respected his chin very much so
He dont like pressure but Margs was a Huge guy and a big puncher (with loaded wraps imo!) and even a guy with a freak chin like his he paid the price for pressing Miguel, infact i dont think he's been the same since! Pac pressed but he's not human. If Ricky stormed at Miguel u can bet ur ass Cotto would have some Nasty counters and infighting waiting for him there
Dude, Cotto would have whooped Hatton head to head. The win over Mosley is better then the win over Tszyu. He fought Pac better then Hatton did and last longer. They went to war for 6rds and then he went into survival mode. Fought Clottey (WITH 1 EYE for 9RDS) beat Paulie worst then Hatton even thought Ricky got the stoppage but that was Mcgirt who stopped it. Quintana would have beat Hatton, Cotto destroyed him. Torres at 140 would probably have kicked his ass too.
i dont agree. i think both were past prime but they were not too far in decline so that they werent good wins. they were about even to me.
as far as quintana, he was a up n coming fighter who got a little hype, about the same as juan urango. never went anywhere. difference quintana got a win over p will. then he immediately got knocked out. to me, those guys are about the same level fighter. jlc and collazo are almost as good as judah and clottey, i would give the edge to cotto tho.

this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Hatton never fought Cassamayor, and Cotto also beat Mallinaggi an undefeated Mallinaggi. Plus JLC was shot to utter shiit and Cotto has other quality wins on his resume along with those
Not having a go i just think its easily Cotto that has the better resume
my fault. i meant collazo. i get those two confused on occasion.
Think you mean someone else he never fought Joel. As a whole, JLC, Foreman and Mayorga aren't worth mentioning, those names we should get rid of.

not at all...i dont see how ppl say this. its very close
kostya tszyu
jlc
joel casamayor
juan urango
paulie malignaggi
is about equal to
shane mosely
zab judah
carlos quintana
joshua clottey
the darkhorse is how u rate the foreman win at 154. to me, i wasnt impressed. foreman just isnt that good imo. i dont rate the mayorga win at all. but i can understand an argument for why its better in cottos favor. but is damn near close it isnt nearly as wide as some of u claim.

You gotta mention Cottos other wins as well. Not just his best one imo. Also the Mosley that Cotto fought is better than the Kostya Ricky fought by a mile. Kostya was fighting once a year and Ricky low blowed him and wrestled him tot he ground that was his last fight as well.
