This was a really good fight I just was checking it out while I ate some BBQ,wanted to know ya thoughts..What did ya think of the fight and who did you think won it??
I had Peterson by a rd,and I really enjoyed this fight was a close tight battle between two hungry young lions..I have to be honest I really would not mind seeing this one again..
I had it 6-4 Peterson last time I watched, but I can see 6-4 the other way or even at 5 rounds apiece. Ortiz had no business letting Peterson back in that fight, but he did and Peterson showed real guts and boxing ability.
The night of the fight I scored it a draw, the next day I watch again I had Peterson by a rd..I just watch it again,a poster ask me to rewatch it and re score it..I had Peterson up by two rds..I never seen Ortiz win the fight not once..This with Ortiz scoring three KD's..Damn Ortiz has no shot imo against May,I also believe Bradley would dominate him..Khan may dominate him two,but I'd give him a better chance at Khan because of the whole chin thing..

Peterson won on one of the judges scorecards..The other two had it a draw,so Ortiz did not win on any Judges scorecards..
Ortiz weight on fight night was the same as he weigh on his fight against Berto..He did not show any new skills in the Berto fight,he showed to be more tough then in his fight against Maidana..But that's not saying much being the fact Berto did not fight with the same intent that Maidana fought with..
Peterson beat Ortiz imo and after a win over a very hype Berto Ortiz get's a shot at May(May is going to spank Ortiz)and Peterson is waiting to fight Cayo..Whoever said promotion does not mean anything must have never seen what GBP did with fighters like Ortiz Maidana and Khan...
Yea I think Matts is going to punish Devon,Judah would have put the beats on him as well..As a matter a fact I really find Devon to be one of the weakest 140lbs out there right now..I mean I would give him a decent shot at beating anybody fighting there but I would not bet on him ya know what I mean??I really see him getting beat up and he might get stopped to be honest,Matt's can box..More boxing skills then Maidana that's for sure..
I know, I know. Alexander would be nice if he was more patient and wouldn't get away from boxing... but like A. Peterson, he likes to trade and slug when he has the skills to outbox his opponents, he just falls into what they're doing, though. I hear you on not betting Alexander ha! I think Matthyssee will cruise to a stoppage. Like you said, rome, he can actually box and take his time... that's a scary junior welter... that comes in at light middleweight on fight night hahaha.
No doubt at all. He's very underrated, but it's sad that he rarely gets spots outside of espn. I agree on him being Bradley's biggest test... Alexander never really appealed to me as matching the hype and I only say that because he had a golden opportunity to beat who I initially thought was a gatekeeper coming back to '40 in Judah, yet he opted not to fight him. Seemed like a green move and Kotelnik went to work.
Matthyssee coming up.... oh buddy.

Peterson is tough man his mentality is something to behold..Even if he goes down to the canvas the dude fights on,has a good Jab good straight right and really good bodywork I think he'll be a Champion one day..

You know... after watching Peterson-Rios, I still don't know why he kept going low because Peterson wasn't showing signs of heavy fatigue at all and he was still boxing well despite standing in front and taking some leather but perhaps he was just looking for a way out. That fight was still close.
You're right though, Lamont Peterson was fighting more mature and found a way to adjust. Ortiz still fought well, he just kept getting the worst of the trading. Some people still tried to knock Ortiz after that fight but that's not fair because they're taking away from Peterson's ability.
A.Peterson wanted out of that fight,he was hurt and I really believe he underestimated Rios..L.Peterson imo was Timmy B's hardest fight, most believe Devon was not me..IMO Devon was easy work for Timmy B but Peterson made Bradley dig deep..I really wish that fight with Khan would have came off..Peterson is tough man his mentality is something to behold..Even if he goes down to the canvas the dude fights on,has a good Jab good straight right and really good bodywork I think he'll be a Champion one day..
The Berto Victory somehow blinded people from this and the Maidana fight..not to say Ortiz can't overcome those two fights, but one fight against an unproven Champion tells me nothing yet, when he stacks his resume with names like Mosley, Judah, Margarito, etc..then we can say he's overcome those bad fights..
I would be happy with some young names tbh,Mike Jones Karass Khan Bradley rematch Maidana(which should be at the top of his radar imo)..He can make a name by beating a lot of fighters in and around his level..I love Mosley but I believe Mosley is done..I would not mind seeing him fight Marga's or Clottey if ya talking older fighters..
Yea I was very disappointed in A. Peterson in that fight with Rios..Funny thing was when I seen the Ortiz Peterson fight in the 3rd I said here we go again..But L.Peterson dug deep,I was very impressed because Ortiz look really big in that fight..

Me too. I also like Brandon Rios and Anthony Peterson... and believe it or not, I actually thought that was a very close fight even leading up to the DQ.

This was a really good fight,I like vic but I like Peterson too, hope he get's shots at some of the top guy's..

At jr. welter, I'd fancy Peterson chances the second time around, but at '47, I think Ortiz would overwhelm Peterson.
I had Peterson winning the fight just because he landed a lot of clean shots and was getting the better of the exchanges after the 3rd. Aside the 3rd and 12th for Ortiz, it was a tough fight to score.
Haven't watched it since the night it aired, but I remember thinking that Ortiz looked HUGE compared to Peterson and it seemed like he was going to steam roll him early. Then he faded and Lamont took control of the fight. Had no problem with a draw, but thought Peterson did enough to win.
