Evil #1-Floyd Mayweather coming out of retirement to fight Marquez, because he called him out.At a catchweight of 144,while not even bothering to make weight.
Evil#2-Manny Pacman fighting Margarito at 150 for a vacant strap to make a history 8th title champion. This while Margarito couldn't get a license in half the country after he was suspended for trying to load his gloves against the great Shane Mosley.
Now bear in mind that these 2 fighters are supposed to be the 2 best fighters of this generation. They trade places as pfp king whenever Floyd's retired a$$ needs more money. All this while guys like Martinez have to accept catchweights to fight the Punisher & was cherrypicked against the bigger Pavlik, but still cannot overcome at least 1 of these guys for top current fighter. And B-Hop is spanking guys 18 years younger for legitimate titles at the ripe old age of 46.
Antonio Margarito had only fought once at 154 before fighting Pac at 150, and the fight before that he was <146 at the official weigh in. So I don't think he was drained. I wasn't too annoyed with it because Pac did the appropriate thing after the fight and vacated the belt essentially admitting that he had no business in that weight class and wanted to get a 154 title on his legacy while proving he could beat a bigger guy (even ODLH had to come in at 145 as we all recall). I'd say it wasn't a horrible pick but it didn't really prove as much about Pac's ability to fight @ LMW as they tried to sell us on.
I personally think what Floyd did was worse. The CW was less annoying than the fact that Floyd didn't try to make the weight, which I feel he was plenty capable of doing. Ultimately, I doubt sincerely that it would have made a big change in outcome of the fight... still, Marquez clearly didn't look nearly as good at that weigh in as you'd have hoped. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth.
Foyd coming off the bench after 2 yrs to get some rounds in against a LW @ WW is NOT all THAT bad imo....but Manny gettin' the strap @ 150 against Marg was way too much....then to call it a record 8th world title was just so wrong!!...that was worse than Floyd fighting JMM imo....no titles or historic records were at stake...Manny got this one!!
I agree, good post with the exception of Mayweather refusing to adhere to the agreed upon catch weight.
i dont think its pac's choice to fight margarito, nor fight for a vacant 8th belt.
i say it's all arum's doing putting that fight, while on the other hand, floyd wanted marquez, and then showed up over the CW.
but as you guys would say, well pac had a choice to say NO to the margarito fight.
the pac-marg fight would be more evil then, but between pacman and floyd as a person, floyd is definitely more evil.
Yeah,I know,I get it,blame Arum for everything.
but between pacman and floyd as a person, floyd is definitely more evil.
For the sake of argument, Pacquiao promotes the ban on condoms... :lol1:
If he would have been pro birth control he wouldn't have gotten that hooker pregnant.

Pacquiao vs Margarito will go down in history because of the title at stake and it sets a bit of an unfair bar for future champions. Mayweather vs Marquez will be yet another pointless match.
So I say Arums/Sulaiman's deed of making Pacquiao vs Margarito a title fight.
Well at least 1 poster supporting Pacman had the balls to post his reasons, however suspect they are.
Both were really ****ty, uncompetitive fights really. I just look at it as who had more of a chance at an upset when I think of which was more evil. Both really cheated in their own way I suppose.
In my opinion, the Floyd fight was worse just because Marquez had absolutely nothing to make the fight competitive due to his size and style. At least Margarito had the advantage of being the much bigger man and managed to really hurt Pacquaio at one point. The whole belt situation for that fight was crap but at the same time most fans on this site do not even count it.

Pacquiaos is worse, theres no way they can blame Floyd for coming back after a 2year later and facing the number 2 P4P even if he was a lightweight.
Besides, there was no better tune up fighter, he picked the best that he could. People still have to remember that when Floyd came back in 2009 talks about him and Manny were still faint.
I won't agree with U bro.Quintana,Collazo,there are others,but those are definitely better than a lightweight,IMO.
Bump,yes,no,maybe??:dunno:

For Pac fans, its one of those lose-lose questions. Everyone knows the Margarito fight should have not happened and way worst but like what Floyd said, the Pacquiao fans will stick with him no matter what. However, by choosing the Floyd's evil, they are exposing themselves to hypocrisy because of the catchweight. So naturally this is an avoid thread because they can't win with either choice.
Yes,yes it is.I also noticed that the few pactards that posted opted to forget the topic & throw around some sarcasm.
Definitely Pacquiao. In essence, both fights are subterfuge. The trickery of Floyd on weight is more tolerable than Pacquiao rewriting history. His 8th title was a fraud and undeserved and never should be acknowledged.

:lol1::lol1:
It's amazing how Floyd is leading in the polls, yet there are barely any posts from Pac fans.
Head scratching really...

Pac fought for a 154 title which somehow they were n1 and 2 in???
Despite one not having fought there and the other being banned for over a year and koed in his last fight
The only problem with the floyd situation is he didn't bother making weight. IMO stop blaming floyd and blame JMM. He wanted to fight the best out there and he wanted to move up and try it. Floyd not making weight is the evil part, not floyd fighting JMM - he didn't call JMM out, it was the other way around.
Fighters always venture up. The mayweather fight was JMMs attempt to cement himself, not the other way around.
Margy had no business in the ring with pacman for many reasons. He didn't deserve teh big payday and he looked like absolute **** in his return fight prior to pacman, and was knocked around the ring a year before that by Mosley. This fight just made no sense to me other than the fact that he was another guy on Arums pay roll who Squared up, had flat feet , poor defense and moved forward.
I think Pacquiao's evil is worse. Floyd's evil is certainly ridiculious, particularly because he just didn't even bother to make weight. He paid a couple hundred thousand just to essentially guarantee a win.
That said...
A catchweight for a title? Come on. A catchweight just to make the fight, sure, no problem. But for a title?! And against a p.o.s. that tried to cheat against Mosley and who knows if he was cheating in other fights. For Pacquiao it's a combination of a catchweight for a title AND the scummy opponent tailor made to be beaten. At least for Mayweather we all know JMM is a master of the trade and really can compete with anybody. JMM being such a tough, smart fighter is why I don't knock this Pac-JMM fight as much.
