Note: In the poll, "first fight" or "second fight" just indicates that rematches were held.
CalixBoxing states in the following video that in his estimation, and going by his own personal scorecards, Bernard Hopkins' last legitimate defeat was in 1993 against Roy Jones Jr. By his reckoning, Hopkins defeated Taylor in one of the fights, defeated Calzaghe by one point and drew with Taylor in the other fight.
For the purpose of this question let's momentarily dismiss all official scorecards and judging. Which fight do you consider to be Bernard Hopkins last legitimate defeat according to your own personal scorecards?
I would've love to have seen them fight in their prime. Shame Hopkins didnt want it.
lol you mean the same guy who wouldn't come across the ocean, scared to fly, who openly ducked Jones Jr until they fought, Froch and Dawson. And you mean the same guy who you say ducked joecal, Hopkins who fought Jones, Trinidad, DLH, winky, pavlik, Taylor, etc ducked Calzaghe? eh your British so I under stand
I actually wouldve loved to see a Calzaghe-Hopkins rematch. Shame it never happened.

I love Hop, but I cant find a way to give him the win over Calzaghe. Its not like Joe beat him up, but Hopkins just didnt throw nearly enough. Sure he landed the better shots, but there werent nearly enough of them. He even faked being hurt once or twice to try and buy time and/or get a point taken away from Calzaghe. Just no way I can see him winning that fight.
He did clearly tire in that fight but I don't think, at least on my scorecards, that it was a 100% Calzaghe victory. I've scored that one a few times and I had Calzaghe winning, Hopkins winning and a draw. It was a tough one to score for me, so I can understand how it was officially judged as a split decision. Even Enzo Calzaghe, Joe's trainer/father, told Calzaghe that he had to KO Hopkins, just before the 12th round started which may indicate that he thought Calzaghe was behind on the scorecards.
he didn't throw enough.
if he did , he could have won.
I scored the Hops-Calzaghe fight 114-113 for Hopkins. Calzaghe was throwing but man he wasnt missing like crazy. Hops gassed but his shots were meaningful and he landed at will it seemed.
The only fighter to EVER clearly beat Hopkins was RJJr.

Or he was just trying to motivate him because he knew it was quite close and they were in Hopkins home country and he might get robbed.
he lost the calzaghe fight 100%.
even he knew it , hence all the faking of low blows trying to get rest and/or get points deducted from calzaghe.
I think he lost to Calzaghe as well. Kind of close tho depending on how you count the punches.

It's not that I think there's no way Hopkins deserved a draw or even a point victory against Calzaghe. I just don't understand how anyone could think he won a clear fight. Especially when one of the rounds he did win was because he milked a light low blow and landed a big punch at the end of the round.
Some people claim there was no possible way Hops should have lost and he got cheated. I don't see it. Hopkins was afraid to trade and everyone thought he was shot. We know now that's definitely not the case.
f*cking Joe Calzaghe should be a NC because Joe was snorting cocaine that f*cking motherf*cker !!
Yea, cause Cocaine wins fights lol
If he was on Coke anywhere near the fight it would've been caught (not hard to trace cocaine in your system). And no, Calzaghe using Cocaine 30 days prior also isn't winning him the fight either lol.
