your crazy. I could understand...maybe somebody making the argument against him the past. But now hes done WAY too much to make that argument.
From the Trinidad performance to the 20 defenses to Tarver...to Pavlik...now Pascal. Its been an amazing career.
How in the world does 46 year old man beat a 28 year old man and do push ups during the fight and after the fight? lol.
Hopkins is a once in a life time fighter.
Hopkins is one of the best fighters of all time. But it seems like any time someone wins a fight everyone around here has to place them into the top 10 p4p of all time. Hopkins isnt top 10 all time, he is just one of the best that ever did it. He is one of the smartest fighters you will ever see, and what he has done has to be respected. But the coolest thing? He's not done yet. Knowing Hopkins, he has something big planned.
Ring Magazine had him ranked 50 in like 2004. Considering how Archie Moore, Hagler, and Monzon are usually ranked, I don't see why Hop can't be top 15-20.
Exactly right. How can Hopkins be placed behind Monzon or Hagler on any ATG list?
^^I always thought he was great too. but this add another accomplishment of oldest fighter to win a major title. that to me enhances his legacy further. But I agree its not like it launches him up top the top 10 or anything...
It certainly doesn't hurt, I have no real issue with how anyone wants to view Hopkins because he is without a doubt a great.

I can.
The history of the sport is incredibely vast.
The only way I see him in that debate is if he beats Bute and Dawson in impressive fashion.
@thegambler what do u mean overboard with it?
I mean peoples views seemed to have been altered greatly by this fight, I have considered Hopkins great for a long time.
Pascal just isn't good enough for me to really alter my view on Hopkins to any great degree, no matter what was at stake, every win certainly helps though.
Hopkins certainly is a stud , very few people have the discipline to do what he has done, that was the case before this fight though, certainly this burnishes what he has done but not a real game changer.
To me anyways.
man, jones gets knocked out yet again while hopkins makes history in the same night. could have never thought a green hopkins, out of jail, getting outboxed by jones with one hand back in '93 would be where he's at today...
I would say at the very very least he has concreted his place in the Top 40-50.

So being a racist piece of chit criminal who has to fight dirty and cheat to get wins = respect what he represents? He is no role model, he is a racist POS who couldnt win in a LEGAL fight without any illegal BS.
Sure he has some wins but get over your self, hes not ATG. His style is boring and defencive/dirty minded. He will keep fighting in Canada because he has no fans. Thats why he hypes up all his fights.
THis is all an illusion, big whoop he beat Pascal by 1-2 rd's, lets build him a stadium. He's gonna get whooped if he tries to actually make it an exciting fight with someone whos better than Pascal.
lolyoumad:bottle:
I am thoroughly f*cking impressed. I know he doesn't fight clean all the time (yeah I know the thumb was really f*cking chessy). But man...BHop is living the America Dream.

Hopkins' only lost one fight against Roy Jones, every so called loss was a robbery
I think people are going kind of overboard with it but Hopkins certainly deserves to be talked about with anyone especially when you are talking longevity.
Boxing is not a sport of longevity and Hopkins has managed to stay on top for a very long time, his run in that regard is almost incomparable.
He is certainly one of the greats that really can't be denied even if someone wants to argue where he is placed amongst them but he is certainly there.
