There is still some underlying chatter about a Mayweather fight in the fall. I asked Richard Schaefer about it last night and he said he didn't want to talk about it. I would say something may be brewing, but by no means are we close to anything serious yet.

If it ortiz or Sergio. Sh1t even cotto the he could kick rocks.
How funny would it be that he fights Bradley before PAC? Kind of like the jmm fight.
:haha:
You morons really are new to boxing, which, there is nothing wrong with that, but don't go on tirades acting like you know whats up when you don't even know that Pacquaio fought Marquez twice before Floyd cheated him on the scales.
Ortiz said he wants either Pac or Mayweather, so its not problem to fight Floyd. If Ortiz beats Floyd, he will be the money maker of Golden Boy. Then when Khan moves up in weight, it will be fireworks.
But seriously, does Golden Boy really wants to match Ortiz against Mayweather now. I am not bashing Ortiz when i say that when he talks, he doesn't seem to have confidence that he can say he can beat Floyd, Pac, or any other jr. ww/ww fighters. Maybe his just too nice. Mosley is nice but he can say with confidence he can beat his opponents. Even though he was doing good during the later rounds against Berto, his conditioning needs improvement.
A Floyd-Ortiz fight will be like Floyd-Hatton fight, Floyd by KO. I don't think Golden Boy wants to start from scratch again on Ortiz, just like the Maidana lost.
So instead of blasting Pac and Arum for their crap fight you blast Floyd who will most likely fight a legit fighter?
Interesting. Is it not safe to say that Arum has no intention to mtach them up? I mean hes linging up
O.o BWAHAHAHA!!!!
I give Floyd more credit for fighting Shane first, but its not much credit he gets for that fight. Mosley was only one year older after he fought Floyd, it isn't like Mosley was off for 3-4 years. Do I really even need to bring up the JMM fight, and those were Floyds last two fights in the last 4+ years. Yea, I'm sure he is going to fight someone "legit" Floyd isn't going to take on Martinez or Manny for that manner. So that leaves us with Cotto, but Floyd thinks PR is too far even though its closer than the UK but he fought Hatton so he obviously failed Geography, if he can even read a map that is.
The only options for him are Khan and Ortiz, if you ask me those two need to fight before they step into the ring with Floyd. If your best wins are Maidana and Berto and that gets you a shot with Floyd then thats worse cherry picking than Manny, which is what Floyd does best.
It looks like Ortiz tbh. Lets look at the possibilities.
Pacquiao is more or less signed to fight JMM, and it's clearly not Pacquiao because we'd hear something from Bob etc.
It's not Cotto. Cotto is with Top Rank so unlikely seeing as Mayweather (despite saying he's self promoted) is a Golden Boy fighter. His last four fights have been with a Golden Boy fighter and he ALWAYS says "Golden Boy and Mayweather Promotions are the future of boxing"...he might run to Don King every now and then but lets face it, Mayweather likes doing business with Golden Boy, and he is more or less their fighter, even though he doesn't like to admit it. So Cotto is out IMO.
Bradley is also out for me, mainly because Schaefer wouldn't bother going to all that trouble making Bradley vs Khan, if he knew Mayweather wanted the fight.... would he?
It won't be Alexander, he likes him too much and he needs to rebuild after his last outing.
It won't be Zab, as that fight has been done and dusted....won't happen again and I believe they're friends now?
It won't be anyone like JCC Jnr, and thank god it won't as well...
Martinez is VERY unlikely. Huge risk, low reward, plus Marvilla is too big..even if he comes down to Jnr Middle, he'll rehydrate to 175 ish and that just isn't fair for Mayweather...if he does fight Martinez, mad respect for him though haha!
Doubt it's Khan...I mean I think Khan knows deep down he hasn't got the skills to beat him yet and that he should try building up to mega fights like that....plus if he fights in July, he won't fight again till end of the year most probably.
Ortiz....just came off a huge win, won Floyd's old welterweight strap, has a Mexican following, is Golden Boy, is marketable and is a welterweight. Personally I'd rather see Floyd fight Pacquiao or Martinez as they'd be his biggest challenges and they're the only two worthy IMO. Thats not to say Ortiz wouldn't be a good fight....
But I mean, who deserves Pac or May these days?? No one really....Gone are the days where people worked HARD for the cash cows of boxing. Mayweather beating everyone at welterweight to make the Oscar fight, Mosley being undefeated light weight champ to get Oscar, Pacquiao beating everyone notable at the lower weights to be a PPV attraction, heck even Hatton had to wait around 40 odd fights before getting Mayweather or Hatton....these new guys... Bradley, Berto, Ortiz and Khan...they're getting millions and being offered big fights and they're not doing a huge deal to deserve them? Kind of disappointing....wish there was someone more worthy other than Pac and Martinez.
Sad fact is if Floyd fought Ortiz that would be a Tougher opponent than Floyd or manny has fought in a very long time. Neither of them have fought a tough hungry young fighter in there prime in ages.
SMH
Whoever it is, it won't be anyone who can punch or challenge his zero loss column, you can bet on that.
Aside from the fact there is no one who can. but he did beat and fight 4 straight p4p ranked fighters DLH, Hatton, Marquez then Mosley. Mayweather is challenging himself but like he said he makes great fighters look ordinary
Berto is fighting Zaveck in August. Cotto signed to fight Chavez already he just needs him to beat Zbik.
I think it has to be Ortiz, Bradley or Martinez.
thanks for the info.......Ortiz is def most likely, he is a SP at 47, has a strap (even though Floyd may not want it), marketable and importantly he is with golden boy.
:D :D
it will be someone he can make money with, that means it's going to be Ortiz or Cotto. Berto may be a dark horse.

I love how everyone calls Rafael "Fat Dan" now....:lol1:

Well me personally, I've been wanting JMM/Pac 3 so I'm not complaining right now
Pac/Clottey and Pac/SSM were crap fights though and I've always said that, and have said that Clottey looked like he threw the fight
Pac-JMM 3 couldve been a legit win if it was at 135 pounds. But at WW it doesnt do much for me.
Hopefully for the sake of boxing JMM beats him.
Whew, glad that Mayweather is back alive and in good health now that Manny is signing for the trilogy. I was thinking that he wasn't going to follow his pattern of only coming out of the shadows when a fight is signed
War FMJ!
Agree. Just like when he agreed and fought Matthew Hatton just days after Manny signed to faced Margarito. He did the same thing again when Manny signed to faced Mosley, he waited until the coast was clear, and then announced his next fight which was against Paul Spadafora. It's a repetitive routine which will continues to goes on and on....

The coast is almost clear Manny has almost signed to fight Marquez:lol1: The fight that would shut everyone up is Martinez but I dont see that happening. Hopefully im wrong.
