Hopkins comes in 1/4 lb over for saturdays #boxing bout vs Pascal ( @THEREALBHOP 175 lbs 4 oz) ...Bernard has 2 hours to lose the 4 oz
as a numbers guy, fvck yeah! nice post......... science!
lol, thanks- was bored at work so I was thinking to myself, just how much is 4 oz of weight if you had to lose it by secreting a water-based liquid from your body? I always like looking at a situation in terms of math if possible, that way personal opinion is eliminated all together.
I do believe this is the most scientific post ever on NSB. You deserve some type of an award

LOL...WOOOOWEE...thanks. :boxing:
Science makes the world go round
Specific Gravity of H20 (I'm using that instead of the SG of sweat because it's pretty close to the same thing) at 90 degrees = 8.3077 lb/gal. SG of water at 100 F = 8.2877 lb/gal.
Interpolating between the two:
SG @ 98.6 F = 8.3077 lb/gal + *(98.6 F - 90.0 F)
= 8.3077 lb/gal - (0.002 lb/gal/F)*(8.6 F)
= 8.3077 lb/gal - 0.0172 lb/gal
SG @ 98.6 F = 8.2905 lb/gal
Next, we use this value and try to relate this to 4 oz and put it in terms of cups of water that he would need to lose.......
Using the fact that 1.0 lb = 16 oz....., we multiply by the reciprocal of the SG of water or just divide by the SG of H2O @ 98.6 F to yield gal per oz...gal/oz
gal/oz H2O @ 98.6 F = /(8.2905 lb/gal)
gal/oz H2O @ 98.6 F = 0.0075 gal/oz
Since we know that BHOP had to lose a whopping 4.0 oz to make weight, he in turn had to lose a volume of water. This volume of water in terms of gallons is:
Gallons lost to make weight = (0.0075 gal/oz)(4.0 oz)
Gallons lost to make weight = 0.03 gal
We can now equate this amout to cups of water by using the ratio of 16 cups per 1 gal...(16 cups/1 gal)...16 cups/gal by:
Cups of water lost to make weight = (16 cups/gal)*(0.03 gal)
Cups of water lost to make weight = 0.48 cups
We can further equate this to actual oz of water.....
(0.48 cups H2O)*(8.0 fluid oz/cup H2O) = 3.84 oz H2O
........................................................................................
Now how much water volume do or can we release with each piss? I know I can fill a 24.0 Fluid oz bottle to the top pretty easily after a few beverages. I'm certain BHOP only had to venture to the restroom and take a small leak to make weight...there should have been 0 percent effort made on his part and science/mathematics just proved it for you.

You can see the weigh-in in french here, just click on "Pesee officielle Pascal-Hopkins"
Dawson looks like he's two feet taller than Diaconu. Hopkins looks pissed.

Heavy as possible?
Like what?
175? :lol1:
Well he wanted to be on the exact limit of the division, and if you consider that his scale may be a little off from the official scale, then 175 and 1/4 its possible.
I'm sure he never got worried about that 1/4 lb ... by just peeing or sitting in the sauna for about 5 minutes he would loose that amount of weight.
it is nothing, but it still sucks that he has to go work out and sweat so close to the fight
it will also become an excuse for his fans if he loses tomorrow, I can hear them from here, ''Bernard was drained'' :lol1:
Dude... you can take a tiny squirt piss and lose a 1/4 pound.. or literally sit in a sauna for 6 minutes.
Hes not working out at all to lose a 1/4 of a pound.
just seemed silly that he couldn't have made the weight straight away
he is just cutting it close. i can't wait until BHop repeat 2nd half of 1st fight in the rematch.
all he had to do was take a laxative and let it out in the bathroom
He probably needs to eat alot of fiber now since hes older but back in the day he would make weight everytime no problem

I have thought about this one a lot and I am going with BHop by decision and while I also like Dawson on points, I think Diaconu could pull the upset and stop Dawson.
Dan dan dan. You actually need to think about it FOR A WHILE? Please resign from your post in ESPN. Dawson has not made any adjustment and the only way he wins is by home judges. Witness history in the making when BHOP wins from boxing fans and gets robbed.
BHOP, please fix that f*cking gap in your front teeth. I can drive a Mack truck through it. Do your doctor actually need you to open your mouth to examine your throat or just shine light through that hole??
