Straight wild brawling throwback fighter. Dudes fighting ANOTHER lefty in his very next fight after losing to Martinez. A dangerous, very skilled lefty at that in Lara.
Paul Williams is a straight beast.
Haters? Where are you?

They is no reason to hate
Martinez already sonned his ass
lol...gotta love when cotto fans talk about somone being sonned. p will didnt quit, he got knocked out. ill leave it at that.
I asked that question and no one had a real answer so what else could it be. If he was anything but a black American he would be well respected. Its the silliest hatred in this forum.
Bush did get full credit for that and you know it. Youre letting that Klan come up out you and you dont even know it. If thats the case make sure you dont blame him if the economy remains f-ed up.
Overrated? He earned his spot by winning. If he hadnt had one bad night against Quintana there would be no room for ridicule.
Subtract the height part out and you have Manny Pacquiao.
I have to totally disagree with this statement, because unlike PAC Paul went on to take on the biggest and best challenges out there besides Ann Wolfe prodigy whom called him out on the regular. Paul was a welterweight and by everyone elses standards that means if you can make the weight then fight. PAC, Floyd and Mosley have all decided to steer clear of MR. Williams for as long as they can. So to make money he moved up and tried to cement some type of legacy. What else could he do than to starve. Bob Arum is pulling a if your not a top rank fighter you want fight PAC and you cant be in your prime, slick or anywhere near being a beast. If Yuri Foreman was too tall and slick for Pac then you know Paul whom loves to engage would have been a terror for PAC.
when the first time i see him i thought im gonna see the new Tommy hearns, his slender body, his long arm, his broad back is dream come true for all the trainer. very dissapointing. :nonono:
he's fighting like sheet... WTF he's reaching with his jab
I think 154 is the perfect weight right now for him and the division is his for the taking.
Arum would never sacrifice Pac to Williams. I think after JMM, Pac will fight Cotto-Chavez winner.
williams would give big big trouble to anyone at 147 right now. whats stupid is shane got a shot at the p4p king when from what i remember he was saying he wouldnt want to fight paul williams. everyone knows he would lose to paul. but he doesnt even get mentioned in the mayweather or pacquiao sweep stakes
great he should stay away from middleweight. i hope this is his transition down to 147. One thing Bob Arum may be thinking for pacquiao is marquez in november, bradley in april then paul in the fall. as long as he goes to top rank. i cant see who else he would fight past bradley though. i really dont see who? since bob doesnt want anyone to fight him thats not a top rank fighter. probably another cotto fight i think

unless he develops some skills, he'll continue to be what he is....a guy that throws 1000 punches a fight, can't make adjustments, doesn't use his height very well, and his offense is hoping he hurts you before you hurt him.
i used to like dude, but he's definitely closer to the "overrated" side of the spectrum, than he is to the "beast" side.
Because he has 2 losses over 2 guys he has wins over as well?:nonono:

Pwill DUCKED ISHIDA! He will never fight a puncher. They will pair him up with Dancing Queens who will run around for 12 rounds.
How did you guys let this post go unchecked? Wth?
lmfao!!!!!!!!
Yes he got stopped in the second round. The same round Duran got stopped in. I guess Roberto wasnt a beast either. Im laughing at you ad hi-dro for that dumb comment.
Williams really gets hate for no reason..
If people feel that he is overrated, fine, you have your right to believe it. Personally, I never overrated him at all. Ive always said (and still believe) that he is a tall, lanky, medium powered, decent speed, incredible stamina having, easy to hit, million punch throwing boxer that would give most boxers he will face MASSIVE problems. There is no way to overrate that. A blind man could see thats true.
Was/IS he the most feared boxer? Maybe not, but in all honesty, its not like people were lining up to fight him either. He moved up in weight to fight the 160lb champ and Pavlik backed out like 4 damn times (even though he was medically cleared to fight). He gives Sergio Martinez the fight of his entire LIFE. He was willing to move up to 168lbs (which would be murder for him) if need be. Never have i seen a fighter who NEEDLESSLY gets as much hate as Williams.
Martinez is a good fighter, but after his KO win of Williams, people were comparing him to ****ing B-HOP!! B-HOP. I couldn't believe how people were saying Williams was over-hyped, but Martinez (after one KO win) was BETTER than B-HOP at 160lbs. I remember polls various peeps put up where they compared Martinez (in terms of greatness/ability and who he could beat) vs. Gerald McClellan, Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns and, above all, Marvelous Marvin Hagler. I couldn't believe that ****.
If/When Martinez gets clapped, I sincerely hope her receives the same hate as Williams did. I will post pictures of Martinez face-down ass up on the canvas and make jokes. Ill say that he is still sleeping 10 months later. Ill post "Martinez needs to retire" posts all over the damn board. I wont call him "sexy" tho.. Thats mad suspect for a man to call another man "sexy" and mean it. If you get mad at what i said, too bad; its the truth.
I digress, Williams comes to fight. Hopefully, he can get back on track
Best post of thread. Hands down.
pwill is a beast... fuk the haters

Who?. is that the guy :owned: by Maravilla.......
The only reason Williams has haters is because of his fans that overrated him for years. They made him out to be a boxing God when he was just a good fighter.
But yeah, he comes to brawl and is willing to risk getting KO'd with anybody, mad props to him, he ain't afraid of getting hit and gives us, the fans, a great fight every time. He's one of the most entertaining fighters in boxing IMO.
you nailed it! END OF THE THREAD...
Pwill did want pac wont do , that is get in ring with whoever ww,mm,smi
next, Paul willing to take the test unlike pac! Darn, a Pac hater thread? lol! get a life! hahaha
I understand they took in short notice, but it is not the same. Martinez was getting ready to fight a nobody, it was a 10 round non-title fight than getting ready for Pavlik.
Either way it does not matter.
My original statement was that Cotto has accomplished more than Paul Williams
http://niketalk.yuku.com/sreply/7233512
It does matter when you make false statements only based on the fact that you don't like Paul Williams. Martinez was preparing for a southpaw opponent. Williams was preparing for Pavlik. Neither was preparing for the other. Both took the fight on short notice. End of story.
BoxingScene.com was informed by promoter Lou DiBella that WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is ready, willing and able to step in for the injured Kelly Pavlik and take on Paul Williams on December 5. Pavlik's trainer, Jack Loew, advised several news outlets in Youngstown that his fighter was still suffered from a staph infection in his left hand. The injury had previously postponed the fight from the original October date. Apparently the injury is so bad that Pavlik is not even capable of closing his hand to make a fist.
While Pavlik's team is looking to fight Williams on January 23, I have a feeling that Williams' promoter Dan Goossen will not agree to yet another postponement. When BoxingScene contacted Goossen, he was caught off guard by the news of Pavlik's withdrawal and wanted to speak with Top Rank and Team Williams before making any comments on the record.
Martinez is scheduled to return on December 12 in a non-title ten round untelevised bout on the Malignaggi-Diaz undercard. Martinez is already in camp and training to fight a southpaw.
If Williams decides to go with Martinez, the The issue of weight may come up. Williams has been training for a fight at 160, while Martinez has been training for a junior middleweight contest. DiBella is open to making the fight at 160 - for the right money.
"My guy has to be treated like a champion and not some second-class opponent. We are looking to make a defense of the green belt at 154. I'm willing to entertain any conversation about the fight taking place at middleweight but for every pound they want above 154, there better be a lot of money associated with it," DiBella said.
Nothing has been officially sent from Top Rank with respect to a postponement but if Pavlik is unable to close his hand , I don't see how he could possibly be physically ready for one of the most important, and toughest, fights of his career by a December 5 date if he's fighting off a serious staph infection and training at the same time.
