Does it not disturb anyone that it seems like Manny really isn't interested in this fight. When asked about his desire to fight his typical answer is "I don't need this fight, he does. If you compare my accomplishments to his......" However when Floyd is asked he says he wants the fight just take the test. Now if one guy wants the fight and the other doesn't, tell me who is supposedly doing the ducking.
The cal isn't on him. Despite what PBF fanatics think, Pac has WON the PR war in the mainstream when it comes to him versus PBF. Look at his activity level from 2008 to present versus PBF's.
Haters will hate so it doesn't matter who he pleases. He has money up the yang now and another career serving his constituents.
I will admit that Arum is making **** MUCH MORE DIFFICULT then it needs to be and I can't stand Bob Arum. Honestly I see Manny fighting JMM,Bradley and Ortiz then him retiring at this point. I highly doubt the PBF fight will ever happen.
In all honesty, Floyd needs Pac more than Pac needs Floyd. I mean, Pacquiao wants to fight him, but what can he do? Floyd has some shiit to take care of. I really highly doubt that either are afraid of each other. Imagine being Pacquiao where he's constantly being asked about this. It'd get annoying after a while. He knows he has other options and not just in boxing.
Pac is a great great fighter and I have the utmost respect for what he has accomplished, he is certainly a top 25 ATG and even as a Floyd fan I will absolutely say his resume/accomplishments are superior to Floyd's. The 8 weight class thing is complete trash and any real boxing fan will acknowledge that. Manny's career was defined below 140 and anyone who knows their stuff will state as much. The Barrera, Morales, Marquez fights were what make Pac great and make his resume better than Floyd's. Quite frankly everything Pac has done above 135 has been a complete circus show and more Bob Arum bulls**t than anything else.
Why do people think they can disrespect the likes of Cotto, Hatton, Clottey, Margarito? Yes what Pac did below 135 is what bought him to our attention. But what he has done at 140+ has cemented his ATGness.
because team pac are not the ones stopping the fight from happening... it's wifebeater and team maynever that are preventing the fight from happening!!!
Which team signed for the fight?
Why is okay for Manny to say he doesn't need this fight?

mayweather is not interested in fighting by the same rules everybody else fights under. they both obviously dont want the fight enough because pac could just take the extra tests or floyd could just fight by the same rules he has for 40 out of 41 of his fights.
They would both be tested and fighting under the same rules.....How can you defend this nonsense....
Floyd was asking $100m and killed the fight. Pac knows Floyd will never fight him but the boxing fans want it but what can he do if Floyd doesn't want it.
We know that 100M deal was a lie. Supposedly Koncz said it was 50 for each.

Truth be told, Manny DOESN'T need this fight.
So long as there are a million or so people who will buy the likes of the Mosley PPV.
Manny can fight scrubs and make millions. I will never doubt the man's drawing power.
That being said, I do question his character.
That's the point that is what Manny is doing right now...Fighting washed up guys with big names....But yet he fights for legacy and not money.
you forget this guy is a former flyweight and was already a future ATG before moving up to face De La Hoya.
You're just posting some revisionist views without taking into account the situation at the time.
If Margarito called him out, must make him the world's biggest hypocrite, because he was calling De La Hoya a ***** and a coward for cherry picking Pac instead of fighting him. He wanted De La Hoya, not Pac. Margarito was already scheduled to fight Mosley and lost to Mosley a couple months after Pac beat De La Hoya and then was banned like you said, no-one was calling cor Pac to fight him, because he was seen as being too big. Roach was just reflecting everyone's views.
The Mosley fight, well, he wanted to test the waters against the top guys, and he was hardly going to fight Mosley straight off who was a strong welterweight that had knocked out some tough jr middleweights. Cotto had a recent win over Mosley, was he much younger champ, closer to his prime and was the bigger draw, he was the logical choice. When Leonard went up to super middleweight and light heavyweight, he fought money fights against Duran and Hearns at 160-163 catchweights instead of the top guys there who were too strong for him in Michael Moorer, Virgil Hill, Rocchagiani. But no-one says anything about that, or tries to diminish his legacy.
Fact is when Pacquiao moved up to fight De La Hoya the top welterweights were Cotto, Mosley, Margarito who each 1-1 against each other, and Clottey who given everyone a tough fight. Pacquiao destroyed them all. And he beat the lineal 140 champ, the best 140lber since Tszyu, undefeated at that weight, and he smoked him. Again, former flyweight doing this. What he's done will be rated accordingly once he's gone and people get to properly reflect on his achievements
Listen the guy is either this great risk taker and a person willing to fight any and everybody or he's not. This is revisionist I have been a Pac fan since Hamed was around. I have watched this guy's career. I didn't say Margarito called him out but the question was asked because supposedly nobody wanted to figth Margarito....and Roach said he's too big. But he wasn't too big last year?
They ducked Mosely no way around that. Why wasn't De La Hoya too much of a risk? Why wasn't Oscar the barometer. Why wasn't flattening Hatton enough for Manny to fight a man willing to go down to 140 to fight him. But yet he is willing to fight Cotto. But it's not because he was a bigger draw or that he was closer to his prime. He chose Cotto because Cotto was damaged.
Team pac waits for these guys to decline a lil bit.
Now as far as Leonard goes, Leonard for rematches with guys he had legendary figths with. No comparison there...that's a stretch...
Had he fought Margarito when no one wanted to, or Mosely off of the Margarito fight...I would give him the credit you want to.
I give props for the Oscar fight even though they made Oscar come down because even with that Pacman beat the hell out of a guy that was significantly bigger than hit. I give him credit for Hatton because that was a straight up beat down of a guy who came to fight that is a tough guy....
But since then it's been a joke. It's funny how everybody talks about Manny was a flyweight well look at Mosely, Mayweather, De La Hoya, they moved up as well...not from flyweight because he started young but nevertheless he is fighting at welter now... I never hear well floyd is a former superfeather..
What young bull has Manny every beaten?
:wtf1:...........neither manny nor floyd are in their primes. Nice examples tool!!!!!!!!!
But Pac and to a lesser degree, floyd are considered the best in the business still.
Floyd Mayweather is no hero of mine. He is the best fighter in my favorite. I love Manny Pac as well and I have predicted he would win every fight other than the De La Hoya. But there is something wrong when a guy refuses testing and comes up with multiple excuses. At that moment I looked at Pacman differently....
If as all you Pac fans say that Mayweather is scared of Pac Man, why would Pacman not look at the testing demands as a sign of weakness and just take the test and go beat up this scared fighter?
People speak of Mayweather about waiting for fighters to decline, or carefully choosing his opponents.
Fact:
After the De La Hoya fight Roach says we won't fight Margarito, he's too big for us. Margarito gets knocked out by Shane, then banned then looks shaky in his return bout then Pac fights him.
Shane approached Manny for fight. Team Pac refuses cause Shane is too good. Shane gets embarrassed by Floyd, struggles with Mora, then they fight Shane.
Not gonna even get into the Cotto fight.
But this risk taker was called out by Paul Williams...wanted no part of him....
Claim Foreman was too tall...
I'm sorry....
I still love watching Pac fight but saying his legacy is in tact so he doesn't need Floyd says all I need to know about team Pac's motivation.

As things stand, yes Pacquiao's legacy is far greater. He's a probably future top 10 ATG, a lock for top 20. While Floyd will be top 50, and you'd have to be generous to have him top 30. Pacquaio's legacy from 140-147 in these past few years trumps Mayweathers, and his record below 135 where he went 5-1-1 (3KOs) over the other members of the Fab Four of his generation beats Mayweathers career at the lighter weights and his best wins over Corrales and Castillo.
And as far as this thread, Pacquiao has been saying for the past year he wants the fight, while Mayweather has only been saying he was taking 1-2 years off and the fight would only be made after his vacation, which officially he has not said is over yet. Him coming out just as Pacquiao is just about signed to fight Marquez doesn't change that. And it's quite convenient for him, isn't it? He can say he wants the fight, knowing it won't be made. Atleast it's good going forward that he's finally come out and started talking about the fight. He'll have no excuse after the Marquez fight to turn it down. We'll just have to wait and see, don't know what to expect with Mayweather
He came out after the Shane fight...what are you talking about....convenient....How is signing for a fight saying you don't want it....switch Floyd and Manny and then really evaluate what is really happening.
by that do you mean 10 mill for every pound overweight?.............plus moron when the first round of negotiations started, floyd was the "champ". It has changed since then but it was pac's camp that dictated terms originally.
Plus we all know arum wasn't making this fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not unless floyd came back to him
imho bro your misinformed the first round of negotiation floyd has just came back from retirement and fought JMM and PAC was the champ and still uncontested p4p no.1, Floyd only gain welter weight championship when he beat Mosley and stake his claim for p4p status...
I agree he doesn't "need" floyd, but it is his camp and supporters who constantly call another fighter "scared" yet in post fight interview after post fight interview they duck the issue................
Fu.. the past, who is ducking who now? Can't be the guy who says talk to my promoter, the same promoter who previously said he won't do business with golden boy fighters and who has already offered marquez a fight. Arum makes fighters come to him and he knows floyd will never come back to him.
next up.............yet another fighter who is past prime. I cant wait until morales gets his rematch.....manny v. morales coming to an arena near you fall of 2012.
Sorry for the rant, what fights make manny's legacy far greater than floyds? slighty better, maybe but far greater........gtfoh
