Neither will Roy Jones Jr.
It will be Froch or Ward. Maybe, a big maybe in Bute if he decides to start his career. Maybe Dirrell if hes healthy.
But for certain Ward or Froch will be the only ones worthy of that claim.
Wave goodbye to your legacy Joe.
Neither will Roy Jones
And neither will Andre Ward.
In fact, there will be no discussion....

Wave goodbye to your legacy Joe.
Please man, when Ward gets to 20 plus title defenses, let me know. Ward needs much, much more to even scratch the surface. A win against a heavybag and a guy Joe served up his first loss to doesn't guarantee someone recognition like that. Froch will look ordinary against Johnson who will get inside and put a beating on Froch.
Is this a serious post? Since when do you have to defend a belt 21 times to be the GOAT of a weight class? Especially when 98% of your defenses are against bums?
Ward has defended his belt what 3 times already? He already has better title defenses. Kessler, Green, Abraham and potentially Froch/Johnson?
In just 4 defenses thats better than what Calzaghe did. You have to look AT the calibre of opponents not just a number streak. Jan Zaveck if he fights bums forever could string together 21 WW title defenses. Means nothing.
You surely can't be suggesting Ward comes close to Joe at this point or at any point dude. I agree you have to look at the caliber of opponents but you also have to look at styles and Ward is one boring a**, drip of a boxer. Don't give me the BS about it's tactics either. (I hear that argument with B-Hop alot too) You would be correct in saying it is tactics but the BS is he deploys those tactics because of shortfalls in his boxing ability.
stfu with ur bs overrated statistics. At SMW: Wards legacy = Joes legacy. After Super 6. Wards legacy> Joes legacy :bottle:
you can't handle the truth you silly boy:fing26:
Calzaghe fought 18 of his 46 in Wales.
Ward has fought 18 out of 24 in California.
I don't see Ward fighting his next 22 fights outside of California.
No one would turn up to see this guy.
Mentioning the hometown is important because if there were no other boxers willing to leave home then there would have been no tournament.
a lot of people fight in california. calzaghe the only person i know thats fought in wales.
I am talking about Ward. Only guy in the supersix who is afraid of leaving his hometown.
Shiiiiiiiiiiit,, even the cowardly lion Andre Dirrell has bigger balls.
dont get mad at Ward for having a good promoter also Calzaghe fought in his backyard for 15 years so dont even try to use the hometown excuse.
oaklandstephen is showing a biased towards Ward
Ward needs to be respected for remaining undefeated thus far but you have to question the manner in which it was done.
All his fights are in California.
The only supersix boxer not to travel.
Beating Abraham, Bika and Green at this stage doesn't say a lot to be honest. These were bread and butter fights.
The heck r u talkin about? Mostly all of joes fights at smw were at home fool!

This made him only the second boxer in history to win a ABA title in the welterweight, light-middleweight and middleweight divisions he had an amateur record of 110-10........Calzaghe made history as a amateur an pro
stfu with ur bs overrated statistics. At SMW: Wards legacy = Joes legacy. After Super 6. Wards legacy> Joes legacy :bottle:
I have watched it quite a few times, and had that discussion one too many times lol, I thought calzaghe did enough to win, but I can see how people scored it for hopkins or a draw. I only mentioned this as other people in the thread have I know it wasn't at 168.
As of now I would say that froch probably has the best resume at 168 all time but that doesn't make him the greatest, Ward and Calzaghe there resumes are probably quite even, if not slightly in favour of calzaghe due to some underrated wins and longevity. If Ward wins the super six like I expect him too, that doesn't necessarily propell him to goat at smw because in all seriousness like I mentioned before, Ward's best wins would be kessler, froch, and abraham, and I believe calzaghe would have dominated froch and abraham, and did clinically beat a very good kessler.
This doesn't mean that Andre Ward won't do it, but not after the super six for me. Like I said before doesn't judgement count for something, you can't base your whole opinion on resume alone, you have to make a sound judgement about the fighters, calzaghe had a distinct lack of competition during his era, and the big guys the fights were not easy to make, the likes of jones and hopkins, and ottke, those fights were very difficult to make, as they were all established stars, and to be honest everyone knows frank warren tried to make hopkins for calzaghe. But there was not a big pool of world class fighters like there is now, but when they came along calzaghe fought them, everyone wanted the lacy fight and he did his thing, everyone said he would lose to kessler and he beat him like I said very one sided.
1)froch got a gift against dirrell and u know he did because he got a sd in his hometown and he lost to kessler so thats why i dont think he is the best at smw.
2) u could say at the moment calzaghes resume at smw is slighty ahead of wards do to longevity and underrated wins, i dont disagree with it.
3) I dont agree with u not rating ward as goat at smw if he wins the super 6 because u "think" calzaghe could have beatin them. im basing wards legacy at smw based on his accomplishments. But i agree calzaghe didnt have the type of competition ward has right now.
I totally agree.
The S6 winner alone gets more respect from me than the fradulent career of Joe Calzaghe.
You started watching boxing, what 2 years ago? You have a lot to learn.

Although hopkins is a good win on calzaghe's record it was a close fight and when u watch it very closely u can see calzaghe missed most of his punches which is one of the reasons i scored it for hopkins. Also we're talkin about calzaghe's legacy at SMW not Light heavyweight.

I have never understood why people think Joe calzaghe's win over hopkins doesn't mean anything. He was on a winning run when calzaghe fought him, and the only reason why people **** on him for it is because he was expected to completely dominate hopkins and it was a very close fight and he didn't look good, but since when has anyone looked good against hopkins?? He is still whooping young fighters, even now! Hopkins had looked like a new man at light-heavy, and he had good preparaton for the calzaghe fight when you consider his last 2 opponents were tarver and wright (lefties). You add to that it was calzaghe's first fight at light-heavy. Calzaghe fought a good (not great) fight, hopkins was gassed by the end and calz put a lot of pressure on him, and was landing more shots as the fight went on, I have never seen hopkins struggling like that physically before or after.
I think even now b-hop would be a big step up over anyone ward has fought. In terms of froch, I am not a big on fantasy match ups, but surely even the biggest calzaghe haters cannot favour froch in that fight, I am sure calzaghe would dominate froch, at the very worst it would be a hard fought but clear points victory, calzaghe is better on the inside, better on the outside, better hand speed, better defence, equal chin, froch has better power.

Calzaghe is undoubtably the best and will be for a long time. The right time to discuss this is when fighters like Ward and Froch come to the end of their careers and retire, then you will see if they have maintained for long enough and kept the quality of opponents high.
But they might just move to 175 soon anyway so they definatley wouldn't be the best at 168 as they won't have been there for long enough. You just can't judge this yet.
