You all call yourself boxing fans?
Manny pac is the biggest reason people even talk about boxing! All the man does is sacrifice himself and train at the most elite level with an entire country on his back..
Manny is the face of our sport and he proved it even again last night where he chased an opponent that made it almost impossible to look good against.
Shane mosley had no intentions on winning that fight after the early rounds and he was looking to do nothing but to survive and get out of there with a payday without getting knocked out..
Manny on the other hand pressed forward every round and despite being off balance at times, or throwing wild combinations that couldnt find a home, he did it all with the intention of putting on a show for the fans..
Maybe we have already seen the best of Manny Pac and maybe his prime may be coming to a slight decline.. But winning 12 rounds against a HOF fighter while going for the KO from start to finish certainly does not warrant this type of discredit..
Manny is the face of boxing..........................for casual fans.
It's the casual fans who bring the money. Also, alot of hardcore fans and boxing writers know Pacquiao is the current face of boxing and not Floyd..
People put Manny Pacquiao on a pedestal. They said he was gonna stop Mosley and people were predicting he was gonna do better than Mayweather. Well offensively I will give you the numbers and then i will leave this thread and shower.
Mayweather total punches landed percentage on Mosley: 44%
Pacquiao total punches landed percentage on Mosley: 31%
Mayweather's reason for getting caught by Mosley: This is boxing, it's a dangerous sport. Things like this happens all the time.
Pacquiao's reason for not looking his best: I didn't exercise my legs enough, I had leg stiffness. Next time I will do more leg exercise.
People do put Pac on a pedestal, as opposed to Floyd who puts himself on one. Floyd's style allowed him to land more accurately because he's a more crtitcal puncher. Pac is a volume puncher so his percentage is always gonna be lower.
I'm happy that Pac is a threat to Floyd. I'm happy that Floyd is worried about a potential fight with Pac. I'm happy that pac takes some shine from Floyd.
So what I'm about to say has nothing to do with Floyd. It's quite pathetic that posters are so paranoid that they think any criticism towards Pac is somehow due to Floyd. Fuck Floyd, i'm not even Floyd fan at all. And, Pac is my favorite active fighter.
However, I'm not a dickrider like some Johnny Comelately fans. And, I will criticize Pac when he deserves criticism and he deserves criticism right now. The fight with Mosley was garbage, it was garbage going into the event, it was garbage while it was taking place, it is garbage now after the fact. It was straight garbage.
And, Pac is to blame for that. Because, it was Pac who chose the opponent. There were better opponents out there. And, he chose arguably the worse out of all the potential. You can't blame nobody else but Pac for that.
