No Michael Buffer, NO Jim Lampley, even Max Kellerman is easier to hear than Antonio Tarver. Please! It just seemed shabby compared to HBO's production standards. Harold Lederman, how do you have it after three? Well, Jim, I gotta tell ya.... Showtime stinks!
HBO will always be the number one sub'd cable service. There production value is through the roof. They do all the little things to please the fans. Showtime is 2nd rate, always has been, always will be. I do enjoy alot of there Strikeforce events though. Other than that, not worth paying for Showtime.
I actually thought Showtime's production values were great. You gotta admit it was sick when Lennon Jr. announced "IIIIIT'S SHOWTIME!" and beams of light came down and illuminated the just-dark arena :)
Showtime was a refreshing change from the usual HBO PPV. It's a push in my opinion.
Yeah, I admit it. It is cool.
ever since i got into boxing, i've been use to hearing lampley and merchant, so i prefer hbo. but showtime isn't that bad. i like the announcer hbo had for berto/ortiz, crazy hair and cool voice.
I liked him, too!!
I was upset at how little the camera was on corner discussions during the breaks. I think we saw Pacquiao's corner one time for like 10 seconds in the whole fight. This is something HBO always gets right.
I thought it was funny how one of the announcers said "Eddie Roach.. errr, Freddie Roach".
Also, I think Gus Johnson should stick to football. I'll never forget this call, now that I think of it it reminds me of Emmanuel Steward's "OH MY GAWHHH!" lol

i enjoyed the showtime cast. Ive always preferred Lennon Jr over Buffer (I guess since he always announced Tyson and Chavez back in 80's for Showtime)
Tarver is great and he fits in PERFECTLY with Bernstein.. Gus seems to improve with each fight.
Only thing i miss with HBO is the picture quality and merchants rambling rants and interview...
BTW I think Grey is great.. ever since seeing him inbterview Judah in the locker room after getting KO'd against Tszyu, he will always get my support
Showtime wins: Lennon Jr > Buffer, their announcers actually are enjoying and hyping the fights they are covering.
HBO wins: Picture quality (this is obvious for those who buy the HD PPVs for both), graphics and presentation, Lampley owns Gus in almost every way.
Overall I like HBO more because I'm a video snob and I hate Gus Johnson. Other than that I'm pretty much indifferent.

I enjoyed it. It was brutal honesty, they didn't suck any body off the way HBO panel does, I also like the press row scoring rather than Harold Lederman.
Bernstein and Tarver tell it like it is. I don't agree with everything they say, but they give honest opinions.
Gus Johnson boxing commentary is a lot better than his MMA commentary, but he seems to be getting better overall. I like his enthusiasm, but he does get overboard at time, lol.
I personally like HBO more (I'm a fan of Merchant and Roy). But Showtime does an awesome job as well.

Showtime did a pretty good job. The one thing I didn't like was Jim Gray. He is a terrible interviewer. I wish Pacquiao would've grabbed the mic and threw it down like Toney did.
lmao
I never get tired of this clip:

Showtime has better matchmakers & better level of competition.I watch boxing to see fighters fight.Tarver is a damn good commentator though & he's fairly accurate in his assessments. But I could see how 1 would prefer Lampley calling out phantom ten punch combos.
