When Floyd fights i say to myself "Damn he's the best he beats Pac!"
When Manny fights i say to myself "Damn he's the best he beats Mayweather"
Last night when Pacquaio fought i never came away in awe as normal but thinking he was real lucky that wasnt Pretty Boy Floyd in there with him!
Mosley i gave the first round and nothing else, he went into survival mode early and it was one way traffic, poor show from Shane who is quite clearly not past his best but SHOT to Pieces! But by doing that he made it hard for Pac to shine, its always hard to look good against a guy who just wants to survive but i think there is more to it than that, JMM stood off Manny and he imo beat him twice but regardless of ur scoring he gave Manny big problems!! Cotto backed up late when Pac had really put it on him and had the Filipino looking frustrated. Basically Manny likes his opponents to come straight at him and his last lot of opponents have been selected because thats just what they do and have made Manny look sensational (and he is)
Floyd wont come at him or trade, Floyd will move, pull counter and pot shot him, he will make him miss and make him pay imo and thats IF they ever fight of course!
To be fair to Pacman i believe him when he says his legs were bothering him, he didnt have his usual bounce, the spring and rythem he usually works up plus i heard him say inbetween rounds, 7 or 8 i think, that "somethings wrong" so mabey it was just a bad night at the office for the champ and its a testiment to his brilliance that when he dropped and basically shutout a fighter like Mosley (past it or not) that we talk of it as a bad night!
I felt like despite getting hurt in round 2 and NOT dropping Mosley that Mayweather put on the more commanding performance and against a better version of Mosley
Shane was a Great fighter - Manny is a great fighter.
So however is Floyd and for my money he beats Pacquaio
Floyd's inactivity could count against him now.
I don't think the fight will happen.
Id normally agree but Floyds had long layoffs before and he just comes back looking RAZOR sharp and like he's never been out, this man lives it and believe this - retired, inactive or otherwise he trains like a hungry young fighter on the regular.
Then again tho just to balance it, he's getting older and Pacquaio is no Marquez when it comes to fighting at 147 and he will Force Floyd to fight at a high pace and make him work for everything unlike my man Juan who was to slow to weak and nowhere near aggressive enough to beat Floyd
It will always more easy say than do. Every body come with the perfect plan against Pacquiao but when they face the reality they got shocked.
Reminds me of Tyson - "Everyone has a plan until they get Hit!"
Something still tells me Floyd's style will hurt him against the aggressive southpaw style. When he gets caught in his shell, Pac will have openings that slower orthadox fighters don't have against the Philly shell.
Also if Hatton's footspeed gave Floyd problems, Manny should be able to do the same. Now if Floyd can hurt Pac then he'll have the fight in the bag. Manny's gonna have to be smart but a lot more aggressive than he was last night.
If I have to pick the winner of Pac Mayweather it would be Floyd depending on how he looks in a tuneup. But using the Hatton comparison is useful only in the sense that really Hatton and Manny did/would likely both try to chase Floyd down. And Floyd being Floyd would likely try to do what he does counter and pot shot. How effective would Floyd be with that strategy against Manny? judging from Manny's previous fights against Marquez and his current fighting style very effective. In fact because Pac is a smaller fighter although people try to make him out to be a welterweight, I dont think he would hold up for a full 12 against Floyd, partially because I think Floyd would have a little something extra to prove and probably in the later part of the fight really put it on Manny.
I dont think he is suggesting "box" him but saying that his style, stance and punching will be effective against Floyds kind of defence
I think Floyd can have him hitting thin air and tasting sharp counters
You have to realize that Pac will connect one eventually. If Floyd can take Pacquiao best shot which is questionable then Floyd will pick him apart. But if Pacquiao shot starts to bother Floyd, I know Floyd will put his track shoes and clinch on every opportunity.
If Pacquiao wants to outbox Floyd, Floyd will it easily. Pacquiao need to swarm Floyd and make him fight.

Manny is faster than Hatton but as far as closing the gap between fighter nobody did that quicker than Ricky imho

same thing will happen to wifebeater that happened to mosley. once he tastes the power, he will run.
He has the talent, reflexes, speed and radar vision to win the fight WHILE on the run tho unlike a shot Mosley or beat up Cotto
Just my take i dont really care as im not a huge fan of either guy anymore
Great Thread!
If Pac has a chance against Floyd its in the early rounds and i think he'll probably catch him early with his straight left. But he must finish him off otherwise Floyd will just recoup and box him off.
