Pacquiao won the round but Mosely scored a knock-down...doesn't that make it an even round..9-9?
I know its rare for the fighter who scored a knock-down not to win 10-8 but a even scorecard seemed fair for that round.
he is talking about pac/marquez
yes, im talking about pac-marquez, the first round, you could'nt score it any other way but 10-6 for manny, that one judge was a retard
sweet jesus we got some newbs here, there is no way you can give it 10-7, not unless he hurt manny back to make it that

I watched that fight 100 times 10-7 rds.

refer to dirrell-froch, dirrell gets a point deducted, hurts froch and thus it becomes a 9-9 round instead of 10-8

3 knock downs and manny totally dominated the round bro...two judges had it 10-6 the other admitted himself after the fight he made a mistake and should have given it 10-6
Makes sense what you are saying. It would just be tough to swallow if it was a fight that was a one point swing, in which the scoring of that moment would be critical to the outcome of the fight
Yup, I shall refer you to Pac vs marquez 1 fight, it ended a draw, the first round should have been a 10-6 to manny, one judge said after the fight he made a mistake and gave it 10-7 but he could not reverse it and change the scorecard
if he got that scoring rate, manny would have won the first fight by majority decision
not a lot of people remember that it was due to a judging error pac did not win the first marquez fight
Not really, the referees Job is to make sure the fight is done clean, to ensure they give a fair 8 count to the guy who was dropped if they felt he was dropped, to protect the boxer in the ring.
Its hard to explain mate, I under where you are coming from, the referee can deduct a point if he feels the fighter is cheating or dq him, he can call a knock down but he cannot decide on what judges give at the end of the round. That is the job of the commission (or belt authority)

I always taught this too that no matter how bad a call it was the judge has to score the round 10-8 or if the fighter who was knocked down does well enough in the remaining time 10-9
The only thing that remotely makes sense was if they were gonna score it 10-8 for manny if he was beatin the hell out of shane in the round, which wasnt the case, and shane scored a KD and the round was thus scored 10-9 manny as a result. happened before. But clearly this was a conscious decision for at least two of the judges to go against what was decided by the referee
So if a ref calls a point deduction for a low blow, but the judges don't see it/don't think it was low, they don't have to take the point? Alternatively, what if it was a knockdown and there was a non-call? Could they give the fighter an extra point in that case?
I just think it is a judges job to score a fight based on actions decisions made by the referee during the fight. It's not as if the point even mattered, but that isnt the point

The judges have the power to score a round as they see fit, even if there is a knockdown, they do not have to score the round to the person doing it, they do have the power to score it as they see it which is what they did

I always wondered this, I thought if the ref ruled it a KD then the judges had to score as such. I'm sure this was mentioned when Pascal hit Bhop on the back of the head and the commentator's said that they have to score it as a KD.
