Just means Shane wants the gloves that provide the best protection in the form of the ability to block punches. Grants are wide and have been known to be used by defensive fighters. Shane's scared.
i remember when it was a ****ing conspiracy around here when shane wore grants against floyd
This is why am laughing so much here, they accuse Mayweather of forcing Mosley to wear Grant gloves but a year later and two fights later Mosley is still wearing grant gloves too.., so I guess Pacquiao forced Mosley to wear them too.
I have worn Grants Reyes (my brand Everlast) Title Ringside and Winning
it's my job to know my competition
gloves make somewhat of a difference
How are the MX gloves in comparison to the Reyes gloves?
Edit: I just got to the post where you talked about the MX. It's all good, how are they constructed though?
The only way Mosley is going to win this fight is if Pacquiao has the padded Grant and Mosley was a pair of Margarito's finest with a little extra plaster.
Yes i have. Lol.. I been boxing since i was 13. My son is in my avy with zab in the gym.
I also been hit with everlast, reyes, grants, title, ringside and G&S. They all hurt the same except reyes is little harder(training gloves. I will admit i havent felt pro fight gloves). I also own a pair of grants(which I love. The best money I ever spent. Wearing those bullsh1t everlast gloves use to f-ck my hands up). I also had a fighter let me train with their winnings(those sh1ts are like straight up pillows on your hands. Loved them but I prefer my grants)
Boxingscene is a trip.*Was just a simple question. No need to try and pull rank.
no one is trying to pull rank you asked a dumb question especially if you have been in the gyms as you say. Most people around the gyms realize that Winning gloves are the glove of choice for training because they are crafted very well and protect the hands through the rigors of training. Why would he use a fight glove to train in?
it's not about being soft more than being less effective at impact. *For fighters lower in weight these types of gloves do make a difference.
they're comfortable but not necessarily better for the hands
Winnings are the gloves for hand issues
a lot harder
because Winning gloves are some of the best training gloves in boxing period. *
serious question not trying to diss but have you ever seen fighters train in person?

Cool stuff, we really dont get to read about these things anywhere else. I noticed recently alot more boxers who wore reyes are switching to the MX's, like Cotto. I havent really bought Everlast gloves in awhile, I'll probably get a pair.
If I have some extra MX I will send you a pair to look at
they are a true punchers glove from the padding to the leather everything we put into that glove is for punching
depends bro
for Lamont Peterson we made black and gold Protex3 and he told us Grant made an 8oz glove with a 10oz thumb (long by 3/8 of an inch) so we just sewed a 10oz thumb
for certain guys we will take casts of their hands and apply accordingly
Nonito's weren't custom they were straight off the shelf Red MX (our punchers glove from Mexico). We will probably do a custom one for him eventually. He loves the MX and told me when he hit Montiel he felt all his power go right through him

yeah I figured. But damage over comfort. Just my opinion, I think Mosley does more damage with Reyes.
how do you guys make custom gloves for a fighter? do they get their hand casted and you guys make the glove? it sounds interesting. Didnt donaire have custom everlasts too?

Mosley wore Grants because he preferred Grants plain and simple
I told everyone back during the Mayweather fight we had talks with him while he was training for the Mayweather fight and made some custom gloves for him. We were told that he felt the Grants and preferred those over our MX and Protex line. He also thought about Reyes but had said that they hurt his hands sometimes
but make no mistake he prefers Grants period

Got damn, did pac choose shane's gloves, mosley is such a tool
Waht would make you think Manny forced mosley to wear those gloves, and not Mosley choosing those gloves himself. His last 2 fights Mosley wore Grants.
Is there a link or something to this? or are you making up stories.
I dont understand why mosley chose Grants, when his past 2 fights he sucked with them. The last time he wore Reyes was with Margarito and he f'd him up.
Funny reading through the thread floyd fans think Manny forced him to wear Grants. If Manny really wanted an advantage he wouldve selected WINNINGs. Its obvious Mosley chose his own gloves, but once again floyd fans show their intelligence.

No, that is clearly an insult by trying to denounce someone's knowledge based on one statement. How is that not insulting? The differences aren't VAST. Yes they are apparent, but you hit anyone with something with that little of padding, Cleto's, Grants, or neither, it's going to hurt. My claim is that the difference isn't as significant as people make it out to be. Not that there is no difference, which you're clearly trying to imply. What I find hilarious is that you're also making an invisible argument here with me. You're bringing up points and facts that I would clearly agree with, but based on me being your 'opposition', you're probably trying to secure an upper-hand in a near future post. That would be my guess anyway, considering your hostility. My statement was, if you remember, basically a knockout will and can occur with any glove, which is something you said exactly in your post. We are technically on agreeing terms, but you're still trying to question my experience for absolutely no reason, and it's extremely irrelevant. My statement isn't exactly something you can extensively disprove with statistics. You can't measure something so small with all the variables involved. Yes, Cleto's allow a fighter to hit harder, but it's such a tiny fraction that it's not even mentionable. From what I have heard and researched on a Cleto's fight glove, people have said it is more when they clench a fist. Maybe it also gives fighter confidence with his power based on the feel of it alone. I don't know about you, but depending on the gloves I wear, I feel confidence doing different things, small differences or not. For example, gloves that allow to open your hands up more sometimes give you that feeling you could use a shell defense like Winky, ha. Ask yourself, why would Mosley choose Grants three times in a row when he knows he's clearly puncher? Obviously it's personal preference, but I guarantee he doesn't feel like he's risking his power for it.
lol if you think I insulted you I really don't know what to say
good golly man get out more
he wears Grants because
1. he was told they made a special glove for him but in essence it's the same glove with longer fingers
2. they are comfortable nothing more nothing less. He prefers the punch of a Reyes but those gloves are comfortable for him
3. he gets free gear from Grant including custom shirts equipment for his team etc etc
I know this for fact my man
I dont understand why mosley chose Grants, when his past 2 fights he sucked with them. The last time he wore Reyes was with Margarito and he f'd him up.

how is that an insult? sounds more like you took offense and got butt hurt with what I said.
That's on you not on me
so then let me ask
have you actually seen a Reyes and Grant glove side by side
see I have my doubts because if you had then you wouldn't make the claims that glove selection is minimal.
so if that were the case then why would punchers prefer Reyes over Grant? if a puncher is a puncher regardless of glove then Manny would use a Grant too right?
Reyes are made with a combination of horse hair and loose padding and covered in a softened kangaroo leather to make the impact and damage inflicted at a maximum
Grants are made with three layers of high density foam to minimize impact on the hands and give a light feel to them.
why? they are no differences in 8oz gloves from 122 to 140 (the last division where 8oz gloves are automatic in Nevada)
no company I know of makes a small glove for a small fight
so in essence because an 8oz glove is the same no matter weight I would say what it's made of makes a biggere difference at the higher weight because less protective padding means a larger impact from a stronger puncher
knockouts happen in every glove
but again there are big differences in the Grants and Reyes that do have an influence in power
you don't want to realize that well again that's simply on you

LOL @ ppl questioning why he chose grant.
You think Grant gloves are pillows?
It really doesn't make a significant difference.
Mayweather Mosley = Grant Gloves
Mosley Mora = Grant Gloves
Get over it, I bet most people here have not even wore those gloves.
Let alone actually trained.
I have worn Grants Reyes (my brand Everlast) Title Ringside and Winning
it's my job to know my competition
gloves make somewhat of a difference
So you make a random accusation to insult me rather than rationally debate?
how is that an insult? sounds more like you took offense and got butt hurt with what I said.

Someone with the power of Mosley should not find any difficulty landing a hard blow at a relatively same effective rate with Grants compared to Cletos.
so if that were the case then why would punchers prefer Reyes over Grant? if a puncher is a puncher regardless of glove then Manny would use a Grant too right?
Reyes are made with a combination of horse hair and loose padding and covered in a softened kangaroo leather to make the impact and damage inflicted at a maximum

Yeah, sure, if the fight was at 122 or lower, there would be a giant difference, but that's on how the gloves are constructed (obviously, right?).
why? they are no differences in 8oz gloves from 122 to 140 (the last division where 8oz gloves are automatic in Nevada)
no company I know of makes a small glove for a small fight

But this is 147. We've seen many accounts of knockouts with Grant gloves in these relative weight divisions.
knockouts happen in every glove
but again there are big differences in the Grants and Reyes that do have an influence in power
you don't want to realize that well again that's simply on you
