I'm not familiar with Florida/Dade county laws. In some parts of the US, the laws concerning domestic violence are heavily geared towards protecting the woman. The charge is battery, so some sort of physical contact is alleged. If Lara really did anything at all, something as little as a shove might've landed him in jail.

He probably just punched a drunk dude that was ****ing with him and since he's a pro boxer his fists were considered as a dangerous/illegal weapon.
