HBO to blame for Khan-Bradley falling apart. Greenburg needs to go!

Really getting tired of this. Ocne again, HBO overpays their fighter, and because of it a huge fight is not made. Remember why Cotto-Berto fell apart? HBO had been paying Andre over a million dollars to fight bums, so the 2.whatever million dollar offer to fight Cotto wasn't high enough. Why take the risk for just a little more cash? Now, here were are with the same situation. HBO pays Bradley, who is not a draw or moneymaker, over a million dollars to fight another unknown (outside of St Louis), and also guarantees him another payday and HBO date in his next fight. Naturally, a unification with Khan is what everyone wants to see. But Bradley, he thinks that 1.3 million dollars just isn't fair! He just made that much to fight Devon Alexander, and will get a million or so to fight any old fighter on HBO in his next fight. So why take the same money to get into a risky unification fight, when he can fight someone easier and still get paid? After all, the fans can wait, right? If the fight happens, cool, if not; he still gets paid the big bucks by HBO, even if he can't fill a casino. So, you have megafights not happening because guys are getting paid too much, and you have guys that have accomplished absolutely NOTHING in their careers except high profile losses turning down title shots/paydays (Peterson), because they know HBO will still take care of them. This is not how the game is supposed to be played. HBO needs to hurry up and replace Ross Greenburg, because he has seriously fucked with the natural order of the boxing game.

I'm sorry but Bradley can't draw flies to sh1t and Khan is doing him a favor by taking the lower amount of money. But I do agree that HBO has spoiled certain fighters by overpaying them.

This is true. However, if the shoe was on the other foot, Khan would be expected to sign the contract and would be harshly criticised if he refused. Most of the posters on this site are hypocrites of the highest order. One rule for one. Another rule for another. I have seen a lot of posters being pretty critical of Bradley. Khan has an image as the next boxing superstar so I think that adds to the pressure on him to excel.

If Khan were the one who said it's not enough $ and wouldn't fight he'd get ripped but bradley doing it . It's not his fault it's HBO or so and so.Man up and fight show you are the best at JRW and you'll get paid in time.props to alexander for fighting the argentinean. He could of took a tune up fight off tv but he choose to fight real comp.

Timmah knows the risk is too high. If Amir beats him on July 23rd, HBO will not give him another 7 figure payday. If he decides not to fight Amir straight away, he has a gaurantee of two 7 figure pay dates. Exactly so then why do you have that dumb ass ****ing sig?

Good read. couldn't agree with you more. Still think bradley doesn't deserve the 1.3 mil offered. HBO raise the game in the wrong way, The same reason Berto wouldnt do anything less than 50-50 with Mosley when he can make 1.25M fighting F. Hernandez, I dont mind them throwing money at a fighter that has a lot of fans or that brings fans/audience to boxing but they need to stop paying fighters who arent that of a big hit with fans.

I been saying this too. 80% of ppl should get fired from HBO Sports. From the top, Greenburg needs to walk the plank first as he knows sh1t about boxing. Now the fighters are EXPECTED to get overpaid. Hope for continual decline HBO until landscape is changed.

This is simple, damn it. Khan is a the bigger draw easily and he is making 50K less than Braley who cant draw flies to ****!!! Bradley's gurantee is 1.3 mills. For the people who dont know how to do math thats $1,300,000.00 Khan's gurantee is 1.25 mills= $1,250,000 Khan is the bigger draw and have more to lose for that same reason. And if the excuse is that Bradley can make as much money against another fighter, well so does Khan and Khan can make more money fighting Judah, JMM or a Maidana rematch, but he still willing to take the challenge even though he deserves more of the money than Bradley and is getting paid less!!! Bradley is ducking!!! Your right about the money not about the ducking..Bradley is takin care of business..Khan will be handle in due time..

But, like I said is HBO fault. 1.3 should be a great offer from Khan to Bradley. But, how can it be, when Bradley just made 1.1-1.2mil fighting a lesser opponent who wasn't the draw that Khan was. This right here. HBO tipped the scales in a way they weren't supposed to be tipped. Bradley would take the fight if he was getting the money he made against Holt up until now, but the million dollars to fight Alexander changed his expectations. Because of that, we don't have a fight.

I love Bradley, but maybe dude needs to get a 9 to 5 working minimum wage getting paid 30,000 or less a year. He needs to be working in a hot kitchen or out in the heat doing constuction. Then...comeback and present the same contract to him. He as well as all these fighters would sign it within 30 seconds!!!

Khan is no Hoya we all should know better then to use this as an example..I agree tho Khan should maybe make a lil more..But the gap between them right now,1.25 1.5 is far to much space there..Esp when Bradley can make 1.2 fighting a lesser fighter and then signing with a Major promotion company..Coming back to the table with Khan with some big gunz behind him and making more money anyway..This is HBO's mess to clean up I'm with you they have to see the corner they back them self's into and the only way to get out of it is to pay Bradley what he wants..Which is like 1.20 most likely,I can't lie I can't wait for Bradley to have some comments.. Your post doesnt make any sense. You keep saying Bradley would take the the fight for 1.2, but Shaw already said Bradley turned down 1.3.

It should have worked out cuz' those paydays SHOULD have been their highest payday at the time. But, it probably wasn't cuz' Bradley made like what? 600k for the Abregu fight? Why? He should have made like around 200k for that fight. HBO is overpaying this guys. And, is not even funny. I agree. They really dug themselves in a hole because they created these money filled egoes.

Neither would have taken the fight at those terms, even though that's what it's really worth in reality. The problem is HBO has overpaid fighters in the past, which has given these newer guys the mindset that they deserve that amount too. Nobody is saying he's Oscar ****ing ey. The point was that he was bigger draw. And, most of the times the bigger draw gets the bigger split no matter if he's more accomplished or not. Honestly Bradley made just as much in the Alexander fight as Pacquiao and JMM made together in their first fight. HBO just ridiculous overpaid to have Bradley-Alexander. They should have paid what Bradley and Alexander were worth. Bradley anywhere from 500-750k while Alexander around the 500k mark. And, that would have made this Khan 1.3mil offer look like a great deal. But, they paid Bradley 1.1mil-1.2mil for Alexander. Which now makes this Khan offer look like bad deal. He's making 1.3mil to fight Khan. That's making some money bro. And, you should know is not about accomplishment but being the bigger draw. I mean Oscar got more money that JCC cuz' he was the bigger draw at the time. Oscar got more money than Chicanito bigger draw but Oscar hadn't accomplished what they have at the time That being said I don't blame Bradley not do I blame Khan. I blame HBO, why would Bradley fight Khan for just 200k more than what he made against Alexander? Especially when Khan is not only the bigger threat cuz' he's the better fighter but the much bigger draw than what Alexander was.
