you have to **** on anyone mentioned in the same sentance, or as a possible opponent, or just considered to have a better resume.
Simple question, I honestly just don't get it. A fighter can be great, but does that mean he has to be the greatest of all time, with the greatest resume of all time and no one could ever compete against them in any way.

They can't be a boxing fan imo,if you can't give one fighter or another credit then your just a nutthugger not a boxing fan..
it started with flomos. blame them
I do remember when flomos around here were hard to take, but nothing compared to the **** that goes on now and it's not floyd fans doing most of it. To talk down the achievements of fighter like SRL, SRR, Duran, Hagler, & Hearns is just laughable to most true boxing fans.
Really i don't even blame the boxing fans, i know a lot of rational fans of all fighters. It's the fanboys who are only in it until the next fad comes along. back then it was May, now it's Pac. soon it will be Khan & Ortiz.
I try to give respect is due, in general unless I have money on a fight what I want to see is a fight the raises the stock of both men.
I hate the hypocrisy though, what dudes cry about one day they all of a sudden they make excuses for the next. That is my main beef in regards to most posters here the lack of consistency people have, hold people to the same standards.
I wasn't sh*tting on Bradley !! He is a great fighter.
I was just saying that his resume ain't all that much better than Amir's.
Sorry pal but i wasn't talking about just you. A lot of guys have been giving less then due respect to some of the best fighters in history only because they are compared with a fighters they happen to love unconditionally.
Boxing is great because of all the great warriors who have given their all to be just that. When a fighter is mentioned as GOAT material remember that it's an honor because of all the fighters who came before them and earned such titles as well.
Not only that, but u get responses saying well this guy would smash that 1,so why bother fight. Then the guy that would smash the other 1 fights a granpa or some shot 1 dimensional feller instead.
Heaven forbid that an underdog fighter does anything remotely similar to what an atg did.U get, well how come he got away with it.Maybe, just maybe it's a little different for an underdog fighter who's recently been ko'd,moving up in weight to fight a champion to be a little cautious. As opposed to the greatest of the current fighters looking for every advantage imaginable to fight.
The automatically ur a fan of his arch rival.Even when U can't stand either.I'm the Punisher's biggest fan,but guess what,Martinez ko'd him.Do I hate Martinez, nope not a bit. He's had an amazing 2010 & started off this year on the right track baby!!
Most threads now just turn into complete wars with everyone calling each other homo or whatever.
If you dare predict a fighter will win a fight you're automatically a fanboy of that fighter, regardless if you're actually a fan, and also you hate the other fighter automatically.

Yeah, I don't really get it either. Maybe I'm a rare breed, but I like Floyd and Manny, so what does that make me? A flotard? Honestly the whole thing is stupid. Watch the guys you want to watch, root for the guys you want to root for, and just have fun and enjoy the sweet science.
Almost like in politics when it involves a popular figure.
Most of the focus will go onto the people that are for or against a certain politician.
There will be of course varying degrees of agreement amongst members of each side. However, most times the loudest and gets the most attention can also be the extremists of the bunch. In our case (NSB), our extremists are the trolls. And we've seen them from both sides.
"________ KOs SRR in the first round!"
"WRONG! _________ is only slightly better than steaming shi.t. SLIGHTLY."
The people that are drowned out are the ones open to debating. However over the years, the barrage of trolls have turned some moderates of each side into unwavering elitists. These types are almost worse than trolls because while trolls know they are stupid and can be easily ignored, elitists on the other hand have a slicker style. They pretend they are open to debate but are not, and talk with a tone that they shouldn't be questioned because they've done the "research".
My opinion on this is that it has to do with certain cultural differences between newly evolving fanbases. There have been slews of successful Mexican, American, Puerto Rican, European fighters, White, Black, etc...When it comes to Manny Pacquiao the majority of his fans have only started watching boxing because of Manny Pacquiao, boxing ends and begins with Manny Pacquiao. Him being the only fighter they have ever followed and their new enthusiasm and exposure to a sport drives them to want him to be the greatest fighter of all time. Him being their favorite (and in many cases) only fighter, they don't watch boxing as a sport. They watch Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao has to be better than everyone else because he is the only fighter they have ever watched/followed.
These same parallels don't apply to other nations with much larger histories of world class fighters. Anyone who thinks a certain fighter has an edge over Pacquiao has to be labelled as following that only one fighter. They use this personification of anyone who supports any other fighter as a way to justify the fact that they only really care about one fighter. The "Flomos" are really a mythical creation of the "Pactards." Are there a few overly enthusiastic Floyd homers out there? Of course, you see it with other boxers too. However the Pacquiao fanbase largely only follow one fighter. Boxing begins and ends with Pacquiao as the GOAT and anybody who disagrees or has differing opinions has to be labelled in some context similar to the "Pactard" moniker that has been applied to them.
Why do people think Pacquiao fans only started watching boxing after he came onto the scene.
I love the ignorant line of thinking in your post.
Really?
What I see is certain posters, using certain fighters to flame particular fan- bases.
For example, If said B-hop was a real champ and Floyd is a coward for fighting Marquez........why act surprised if someone brings up the fact that Bernards biggest wins were against smaller men, coming up one, sometimes two divisions to face him.
I guess you only see the responses from those fan bases and not the flaming that lead up to those posters making those comments.
You've been on NSB for 5 years... is this JUST NOW getting your attention?
well to be honest, yes, but it's been getting out of hand lately.
I guess i'm the only one who believe regardless of who your favorite fighter is, you gotta give credit where credit is due.
