Has anyone else noticed that Sergio Martinez, especially in his last fight, has developed a style that is an amalgam of Floyd's stationary-to-lightning-fast single shots style and Manny's squared stance, bob to right/left and throw a straight shot followed by awkward combinations style?
Most notably, I noticed this development of his style in his fight against Dzinziruk. He seemed to work from a "coiled" position where he would explode with a superb jab (i.e., Floyd's performance against Mosley) and then ambush Dzinziruk with a short flurry of "dip jabs," followed by uppercuts and that awkward overhand left (not unlike Pacquiao).
Just found this interesting, especially given his more recent interviews about his desire to fight either Floyd or Manny.
Martinez does not fight like Roy Jones Jr, unless you pretend that fighting with your hands down defines your style.
Thats why i posted that. Cause I think rjj is the only who's thinks that way.
or perhaps his style is his own....?
no, Im being ridiculous, ignore me. boxing is based around Pacquiao and Mayweather, they invented every technique ever.
If Sergio were a heavyweight, he would KO a klitschko. He does what the Klitschko opponents try to do but fail-go on the defensive and evade trouble but coming in with spurts of offensive. Sergio's punching is super precise especially if you consider he's bull-rushing a lot of the time.
