We are automatically looking for the "next rican great". LMAO.
The stupidity on these boards is amazing. The ratio for good and bad posters leans towards bad 25-5.
Where would Hopkins be if this sport was finished and you were written off after one loss. Where would Pac be. How bout margarito , he accomplished some decent stuff(?). How about El terrible. Didnt he give us an amazing fight the other day. How about Mosley. How about JMM. The list goes on and on. From all weight classes , races and nationalities.
I think every person has a different opinion of Lopez. Regarding many aspects of his life and his skills.
I think its pretty obvious what his skills , attributes and flaws are. I think it all comes down to , can he work on his flaws , and can he adjust and fight with a strategy. Instead of trying to ko everybody they put in front of him.
If you ask me , I think he was trying to impress Gamboa who was ringside and had already been talking about Lopez , and not in a good way. And I understand why.
He has a world of talent. He has a ton of heart. His flaws had been exposed since the Mtagwa fight. Is not like we didnt know he had a suspect chin. And I dont know if you saw the replay but Salido caught him with a vicious right hand.
But whats interesting is that he stood up, finished the round and the next round he seemed to regain some type stability and reflexes. But he couldnt fight smart. After the kd he was still up on the cards. And with the right corner and instructions he could have made a comeback. IMO. Patience is a virtue.
He is either going to come harder than ever and work on his flaws , or he will be an even bigger underachiever than Judah. (Even tho Judah is still in the pic, But he could have been higher in it)
Shame on you if you have given up on this talented kid. Wether you think is is arrogant , a coward or a bum. Its pretty retarded to write him off.
30 (27) - 1 is not a bad record. And might wake up a whole different beast.
My point is, JuanMa won't get an immediate rematch because there was no rematch clause in the contract. JuanMa has to go to the end of the line now and wait his turn.
i doubt it i think top rank will pressure salido to get back in the ring a zap to fight lopez
Yes, I'm sure Salido wants to make some money, but Juanma wants a direct rematch, something stupid. If it's a direct rematch, Salido by KO again.

He will fight someone else before Salido, you think Salido isn't going to make some money?
He's the champ now, I see him having two defenses in Mexico, winnable fights then challenge Gamboa again for some real money.
I don't think JuanMa will fight Salido again as champ. I think Gamboa beats Salido, then they feed JuanMa to Gamboa.

Even if it were not the end for him as a fighter, the fans would consider him done and he would fade away. He should fight someone else before Salido.

Not only Gamboa. Imagine Donaire in there with that left hook. He just need to regroup. I don't think an immediate Salido rematch in short time frame is good for Juanma. It would be really hard for him to climb out of it once he loses in the rematch.

It's just the fact how BAD he looked bro... Imagine if gamboa was in there with him... He would of ripped his head off.. Lopez looked lethargic in there.. If Lopez comes back and manages to have a great career I would be amazed.. I'd give him major credit.

His trainer said otherwise.
That's called putting confidence into your fighter as a trainer, take it with a grain of salt. Weight doesn't lie.
I'm not making an excuse for Salido because I don't think he beats Gamboa in 100 fights, I'm just saying that JuanMa was primed and ready for the KO. He was fighting undersized fighters like Concepción and getting hurt, what did you think would happen when a lagit LW with punching power got a hold of him would happen?
I was never high on JuanMa because of his personality, arrogance and poor technique. Maybe he'll come back better, but I wouldn't bet on it. He doesn't have the humility and the ability to change. He bought his own hype. Maybe this way, we can get a greater emphasis on fighters from the island
You hit the nail.

He loses the rematch easily because he simply doesn't have the tools. He's not the fighter we all thought he was. He's a B- fighter. Simple as that.
I bet my membership to urs Lopez wins the rematch holla if U ain't all talk.
I think the loss was the best thing for Lopez,he was getting careless & slugging too much instead of being patient & using his skill to set up his ko's.He has 1st class skill, but considered himself too big & powerful, well he isn't & know he knows that.I bet he wins the rematch easily & is a better fighter for it.

Actually, Saliod didn't prepare well for that fight. He has said it on a few occasions and his weight showed.
I think the problem with JuanMa is that many saw this coming for a long time. His defense has been terrible for a long time and it was just a matter of time before a puncher like Salido knocked him out.
Can JuanMa learn to defend at this stage of his career? I think that is the question. I believe he needs to change trainers, not because he has bad ones but because he needs a new voice, a new start.
His defense is so bad and his chin doesn't stand up to his style. That is the problem.
His trainer said otherwise.
Gamboa didn't face an out of shape Salido. When Salido was in his corner before the 11th round, his coach told him: "Vamos, mijo, te has preparado mucho tiempo para esto."/"C'mon, son, you've been preparing for this for a long time."
I think his coach told him something similar between some previous rounds.

I wrote on here before the fight that if JML beat Salido on a decision(like Gamboa did) I would say he was better than Gamboa because this was not the same out of shape Salido that Gamboa faced. You can't make an accurate comparison betwwen JML and Gamboa based on this common opponent.
I know. But thats what everyone seems to be doing.
I never heard anything about Salido being out of shape tho.
is not a good style for salido, salido admitted that gamboa was too fast and could not find him all night.gamboa just doesnt stand in front of you without moving like lopez, its just not a good style for salido gamboa dances around him all night every single time.
Salido won maybe 2 out of 12 rounds people. and yeah gamboa didnt look good but who does against salido anyways
Lopez only sucess was while moving around the ring. And it had him winning all rounds up until the kd.
