Hahaha i don't like watching women fighting but i have to recognize the Nava vs Torres fight was a war!
And it's now in the news that that 25 million mexicans saw the fight last saturday.
They had better a rating than most soccer matches this year hahahaha

Make the winner meet Eva Wahlstrom in Mexico. I don't think she's ever had that kind of audience while she is much better than these two girls.
youknow/watch?v=CJcNuB-lopg&feature=related
She looks good and the girl goes to fight, but also you have to look at her opposition and she only has 5 fights and she's a Super Featherweight.
Nava and Torres are Super Bantams and just fought for the World Title.
Well their fight was pretty big in female boxing. Ana i believe is the top female mexican fighter im not sure though.
After this fight i would have to rank them like this
1-Jackie Nava
2-Ana Maria Torres
3-Mariana Juarez
4-Esmeralda Moreno
5-Jessica Chavez
6-Zulina Muñoz
I put Nava on top, because she deserved the victory over Torres, it was a close fight, but because Torres is a Televisa fighter, and the fight was shown on Televisa, they made it a draw.

Female boxing ain't worth a dime, they suck. And should stay in the kitchen.
Well there WAR was watched by 25 million people, that's pretty impressive... Now tell me what have you done?
Thanks for the info.
I remember being in Mexico on vacation when Boxing was off tv, every crap fight was on PPV and you needed a special satellite to even get it. It's really sad Morales and Barrera were in their prime during the dark ages, those guys were known more in the states then in their own country. I think what turned it around was Arce being on that reality show, he became a pretty big celebrity off that.
I knew Mexican nationals that didn't follow boxing but knew who Arce was and would watch him fight, when he fought Hussein Hussein on the Morales vs. Pac 1 under card that got a lot of casuals fans hyped up. That fight really delivered and so did Pac/Morales.
Well it began with Azteca showing a fight in Japan, a Rudy Lopez world title, it was the first fight shown in years in Mexican TV, and of course Arce was popular because of Big Brother, he was crucial to the contract of Zanfer and Top Rank with TV Azteca, and after that it began what we have now the Golden Years of Boxing in Mexican TV.
There are currently 3 channels that are showing boxing every saturday in Free TV, Televisa, TV Azteca and Cadena Tres (this channel shows mostly national cards, but they have also shown some world Title fights like Vitali Klitshcko vs Peter).
And we have also Space channel in cable, Space is great beacuse most of the countries in Latin American have it, it shows almost all the fights of Europe, they have Sauerland fights, british fights, the Klitshcko fights, the Haye fights and american fights like Bradley-Alexander or Ortiz-Berto kinda of fights that are not pick up by Mexican TV.
Well gyms always have been crowded here, but difference now is that the average joe now watches boxing every saturday and the boxers are more Popular even the women talk about the fights now it's weird haha.

Yeah it was for women's boxing
The Morales fight had 25 points of rating so it had more viewers than the women's bout, but i was wrong about the Maidana fight being the most watched fight in the History of Mexico, there have been other fights that have beaten the Morales fight.

That's some crazy ratings right there, if only we could get boxing back on network here in the states.
How many channels in Mexico carry boxing now? Have you noticed if the mainstream resurgence has resulted in more gyms opening up or more young men taking up the sport?

I think the record they broke was for woman's boxing. Still though 25 million live viewers is HUGE, here in the states the NBA finals got 28 million live and it was a very good number. There are almost 3 times the people here in the US and the NBA is pretty mainstream, goes to show that Boxing is doing phenomenal in Mexico.

Hey Arum like those numbers why not have the Salido vs Lopez rematch in Mexico fair is fair pendejo
Women boxing is fuccin crazy
plus Mexican women are kicking AZZ in the lower weights
wow, maybe gbp can do some crazy numbers like that whenever they put a card together in mexico. it's good for boxing though, let's the world know people still watch it.
I'm not a fan of women's boxing either. Bu I did see one really solid womans fight last year. It was Kuehne v menzer and i was surprised how good it ended up being.
No they didn't show it, it was on Cable on Space a great channel for boxing in Latin America, they have movies and boxing, they showed the Khan and Ortiz fights.
It's true the Salido-Lopez bout was shown on TV Azteca, the women's bout was shown on Televisa.
And Boxing made a comeback thanks to TV Azteca that brought back boxing in 2006 on Free TV, it was dead in the prime years of Morales and Barrera because of PPV. And the big channels didn't promote it because they didn't have the fights, so the fighters were unkwon by the public.

Well the Morales vs Maidana fight just broke the record of rating in Mexico, beating the Canelo-Hatton fight, they got a figure of 25 points, but i believe the Torres vs Nava fight just draw that record hahaha.
Here is the link of the Morales-Maidana rating

And the Ortiz fight was shown on Cable television, on the channel Space, Ortiz is like the only fighter that is not shown on Free TV here in Mexico who knows why, we even have all the Pavlik fights on free Tv here hahaha.
