Would Floyd have gotten up? Or would Berto have been able to finish him?
I am in NO WAY saying Berto would land that punch against Floyd, or that he would beat him.....
I am just wondering if you guys think that Mayweather Jr can take a flush, clean, powerful shot from a natural welterweight?
TS Note: Same argument, different fighter.

Don't forget Mosley 2 nd rd shot the nearly brought Mayweather to his knees
Does that answer your Question
I think a more comparable punch is not the Mosley shot but the Chop Chop one that buckled him. They are very similar shots as its coming from an opposite hand fighter, bot guys were stepping pretty similar, and Floyd's chin was up. Floyd was stunned pretty good but was still composed enough to fend him off and actually come back and win the round in alot of peoples eyes.
Berto hits harder then Chop but that was also Floyd's 1st fight at 140 and he was smaller at that weight then Ortiz was at WW so I think Floyd takes it and doesnt get dropped but if he does get dropped then I think he still gets up & finishes the round off strong.
At best it would get a Mosley like slight wobble out of him. Most likely Mayweather just takes it and gets pissed.
Your signature is one of the funniest things I have seen in awhile....lol...
Floyd has taken many of tough shot and other than Mosely has never looked like he was about to go down.
Judah hit him very hard, Corley twice, Corrales on a couple occassions, Jesus Chavez caught him with a few good left hooks, Castillo hit him with some good shots, Hatton caught him with a right in the middle of him throwing a combination, Oscar hit him pretty good....Look the man has one of the better chins in the world and it's not only because he doesn't get hit. It's because he has a good chin. But anyone can be knocked out.....From what I saw of that shot I don't think Floyd would have ever gottenn hit that cleanly by Berto....If he did get hit it's obvious he would have been hurt or it would have gotten his attention.
Dumb question - Floyd isn't southpaw so it isn't ever the same shot. Let's say he's that out of position to be southpaw for that moment:
1) He gets knocked back on his heels and regains balance. Smiles, tightens his defense and slips three or four follow ups before moving away.
or
2) He's a little hurt and just immediately grabs onto Berto, who can't fight on the inside at all and thus has no answer.
but back on topic, Judah was able to hit Floyd with his speed, he had one adv and that is being a southpaw, so Berto has the speed to land that punch, but that night he was loading up his shots, but I believe mayweather would had been fine, Ortiz has never been hit like that, the fact he could continue says worlds about him, he was drooling and the boxing world thought that was it, that was probably the hardest shot I have seen someone get hit with and get up and fight on. props to Ortiz, Berto and an exciting fight. rematch please
berto is a one-dimensional fighter with no footwork, counters and with lousy stamina. relying on single punches to do the job won't work generally in boxing. floyd was in the audience scouting for berto. that's very clear. we'll have to wait and see if he'll take on ortiz, instead.
lol Berto has no stamina issues, he never got his legs back and took hard shots. Stamina has never been an issue, he usually turns it up in the later rounds

lol...yea when mosely hit him with those shots, u can tell he was embarrassed, and he made shane pay for that. contrary to what most believe, floyd is quite the warrior, he doesnt like getting hit and its always the fights that he does get really hit hard in that he hits the hardest in return. he has a mean streak.
Floyd has been a world champ for over a decade and we've witnessed him in serious trouble ONCE his entire career (and he didn't even go down) now everybody wants to know if he can take so and so's punch. He has a good set of whiskers, 'nuff said.
Human chin arent made of rock you know, i say the punch that put Ortiz down would put down any WW and might even KO some of them.
^^^^^^this..some people think their favorite fighter is superman...hands down chin up =you gone visit the canvas
After Berto hit Floyd with a big right, Floyd would shake it off anf put on a boxing clinic. That'd probably be the last punch Berto would have landed for the remainder of the fight.
so true...................

Yeah I watched it. But unlike the Ortiz-Berto fight, Shane didnt follow-up. Victor got more than a follow-up (several of them, in fact) and the fight was almost stopped.
shane COULDNT follow up man..floyds a defensive genius..gotta give floyd his props

First off, I don't Floyd would have went ape **** to get hit like that. And how many times has his chin been up in the air like that? Btw, I think he gets back up but a not as quick as Ortiz did.

Shane did TRY to follow up. Floyd strategically pinned his arm and kept his hands up. Floyd is levels above Ortiz and Berto my friend.
well id say it wasnt the same type punch..berto caught ortiz on the tip of his chin....shane caught floyd more from the side and floyd didnt have his chin up in the in the air like ortiz did
He also asked this:
"I am just wondering if you guys think that Mayweather Jr can take a flush, clean, powerful shot from a natural welterweight?"
Floyd has done that. Heck Floyd has taken a flush bomb from a Junior Middleweight with power before.
It wasnt the same punch. But its a stupid question because when will Floyd ever be in that position?
Thats like saying if Ray Leonard got hit with the punch that landed on Williams in the same fashion would he go down. Um yeah.

If Floyd got hit with the Berto punch that dropped Ortiz in the 6th round..... | BoxingScene Community
