Ortiz is a young southpaw who can punch. Is he in floyds class? No but who is except for manny. Plus the fact that Floyd been in a long lay off might make it even more interesting.
naw..he's too open for the returns...too square....and too immature(in boxing years) to take Floyd or a Manny out....but it will do good business and its a good look for Floyd before a fight with Manny.....I can see a Floyd-Vic fight happeneing this September :cool2:
TS had a vision :lol1:
Well, Mayweather must have been there for a reason, maybe cause he's interested in fighting the winner. & as young as Ortiz is, he has just earned a piece of the top of the 147 lbs weight division, so he better be ready to fight the best at that weightclass.
Yea he was there for a reason. He bet on the fight. Lol. And lost money.
I'd love to see Ortiz fight Miguel Cotto next, see how he deals with someone more experienced who has a great trainer. Unfortunately that won't happen due to GBP vs TR, that pathetic b***ching session is seriously damaging boxing.
if Floyd wants to fight a southpaw as tune-up for Manny Victor Ortiz is perfectand with his realtionship GBP it is a easy fight to make.

For the sake of this discussion, I'm going to be generous and stipulate that the Ortiz that fights Floyd is the one that fought Berto in terms of man-on-a-mission.
That said, probably Floyd wins a UD but Ortiz will likely put enough pressure on him to get a really entertaining performance out of Floyd in which case, both fighter's stock could conceivably go up.
Ortiz needs to show that this win and new mentality was no fluke and fighting PBF would do neither. He would be better off fighting a rematch, Clottey or someone young and hungry like himself.

Ortiz would get schooled, he goes in too opened and doesn't use his jab enough. floyd would just sit back and counter all night.
I would like to see it made too tho cuz if Mosley stunned floyd clean I think Ortiz could too and in that case he'd prolly capitalize way better than mosley did.
I'm with you. Floyd being out of the ring so long might give Ortiz a chance to make it exciting, maybe even sit Floyd on his ass.(KD)
That said Floyd boxes the sh1t out of him after that. IMO Ortiz still has some doubt in his mind, and gettin in the ring with Floyd ain't going to build his confidence.
I don't thing we're going to see a PacvsMay fight but if Floyd is going to fight again I don't see no problem with this choice.
Who's the girl in your avatar?
So you think MAB shouldnt have fought PAC? My thing is If we don't give these young dudes a chance how are we going gain new stars. I'm mean Hoya had to fight chavez and sweet pea. Both all-time greats(I mean they weren't in their primes. And Floyd is def not in his) and he didn't belong in the ring with them.
With that said I get your point tho. I guess we see things differently.
Manny Pacquiao was a 2 weight world champion on a run of exciting and impressive victories when he fought Barerra (and was seen as an opponent). Oscar De La Hoya was an unbeaten Olympic Gold Medalist that had been a 2 weight World Champion with 9 wins in those reigns when he fought Chavez. He was ready for the test. Victor Ortiz had been running through good gatekeepers like a train through wet toilet paper but the fact is that the first time he faced a world level opponent he got run through, broken down mentally, and quit. He still has to prove himself somewhere between "better than Berto" and "ready for Mayweather and Pacquiao" if you don't want to risk ruining a 24 year old talent.
If Ortiz was the 126 pound fighter and Gamboa was an inexperienced but sensational and unbeaten Cuban Olympic Champion at 147 pounds... yes, make it happen. Fighters fall into levels and shouldn't be forced away from their levels without breaking through. Ortiz/Pacquiao would be as good as taking David Lemieux and putting him against Sergio Martinez before Marco Antonio Rubio on the strength of being a young power puncher against an aging champ. He'd have gotten hurt bad.
They built their names off big time fighters.
King my dude, Manny and Floyd are currently two living legends. Both are legit All time greats.
Ortiz is now just starting to get his resume in order.
Lets not forget he should have lost that fight to
LAMOUNT PETERSON...:theyareon Which says it all by itself.
So forgive me, if I want to see if he can have prolonged success against top competition before I consider him a legit challenger to the two legit great fighters we have left.
Manny is on a 7 year winning streak!
Floyd is undefeated!
Both have done this by fighting at the highest levels in boxing.
So lets see how Ortiz does before we jump the gun.
Right now.
I love to see
Ortiz vs. Berto 2
Ortiz vs. Khan
Ortiz vs. Peterson 2 (12 rounds)
Ortiz vs. Cotto
Ortiz vs. Paul Williams
Ortiz vs. Devon Alexander
Ortiz vs. Bradley
Ortiz vs. Cheater ass Margarito
Ortiz vs Mosley
He fights in 4 of those 9 fights, then I would be really hype to see him fight Manny or Floyd. Because right now all he is, is a tune for both of them.
Thank you. I could not agree more!
Pacquiao and Mayweather built their way to Fame. It was not a overnight thing. Ortiz needs to do the same thing.
They built their names off big time fighters.
That's not crazy at all. Mayweather vs. the best welterweight not named Pacquiao? Who would complain about that?
I agree with what you said about the counter in the second but Berto has much more pop than floyd
but hey this would be a great comeback fight for floyd and vic is a southie so it would be a good test so he can grow a pair and fight pac should he win
