Berto came out tonight looking like an amateur boxer on your local sports network. He was looking for that big shot and even got it, but Ortiz's work rate to the body and the KO early kept Berto second guessing himself.
Had Mosley fought Berto, I think Mosley could've gotten the upset easily, seeing as how Mosley even to this day has a granite chin and hayemakers that even rocked Mayweather, the king himself.
Either we all over rated Berto or he's just been a product of careful matchmaking. I'll leave it at that.
I'm not so sure....Ortiz hit him with some huge bombs all through the fight and he held up well. Both of these guys have cinderblocks for heads.
Ortiz put money in the bank with those body shots and I think ultimately took Berto's legs out from under him.

They fight nothing alike, and one is an old lion while one was a young hungry lion.
Big differences.
This ^^
Even now I could see Berto beating this Mosley.
I know the fight game its my life,i stood in that ring and fought i see things others dont i guess, more then anything i never give up on a guy after a loss you never know what happened before the fight.Like Pavlik for instance in 2012 he is taking back his title mrk my words.
That is a big thing, recognizing situations and why things happen. A guy losing doesn't mean a guy will lose to a different guy even if that guy is in some ways better than the guy that beat him in the first place. Most people even boxing experts get caught up in that kind of thing.
Every fight is an individual event, as long as it is not part of some larger trend.

Against who? Martinez?
Fck your boxing experts, who Dan fat fck Rafael there are posters on here that sht on the writers when it comes to boxing knowledge i am one of them.by the way i cashed 360 on Ortiz tonight.
Nice. I was going to put some down but I was weary see as how Berto was still a live dog and all..
Just wait bro.
Ive always says Williams, Berto, Bradley, Alexander are all overrated hypejobs.
I had hopes in Kirkland i'll admit, but the dude got blown out and tried playing it off as "flash knockdowns"
Really now:lol1:
Bradley seems to be the only one I'd disagree with on that. Williams slightly, only because he got offed by a superior fighter doesn't make him a hype job.
thought it was evident before tonight
A fight like this makes it very evident, obviously. I've always questioned Bertos chin, I was just waiting on a fight where he was faced with some tough opposition to see how he faced adversity.
exposed in what way he was not beat by a bum,he was fcked up by a young ambitious fighter who was trying to prove all of us wrong.guess what kid did the job.Duran once quit does any real boxing fan dare call him a *****,sht happens guys have bad nights.1 or 2 bad performances and peeps around here throw the bum word around.
srry ur mad, but we all knew once berto stepped it up he would get owned and he did to a light welterweight that was hardly given a chance by lots boxing experts.
Tonight I saw Berto get matched with speed and power, the only difference is that Ortiz had nothing to lose and had the unrelenting determination of a fighter. He's be absolved in my book from the Maidana fight.

I get what your saying but there is a huge difference. Duran had shown great boxing ability and the talent to let fans know he was an elite fighter.
What I say was Berto being exposed as a guy who is limited. Let's forget about his stamina issues and weak chin.
I didn't see any adjustments, no attempts to put combinations to getting or execute a gameplan......just a guy throwing Flashy punches that landed every once in a while due to Ortiz recklessness.
Then who is Mayweather Pacquiao they both duck hungry young guys and fight shot to sht shells.by the way i am no fan of Berto just keeping it real.
Who should Pacquiao fight then man? Dude is doing what he was criticized for not doing prior to his WW reign.. 'cleaning out the division'. At the end of the day.. no matter who May/Pac choose to fight it will be criticized.. but atleast Manny is fighting. Enjoy the fights bro..
Berto didn't go to war tonight. He got his ass whooped and was clinching for dear life.
Mosley would've finished Berto within the first 5 rounds.
I mean really?
People kill me with this "Berto went to war" sh1t.
Dudes legs went to sh1t as soon as he got touch and was in survival mode the hold fight, hoping to land a big shot or clinch his way to the 12th round.
I'm not saying Mosley would make easy work of Berto, but I do know if Mosley can time and catch Floyd twice, he will definately land huge shots on Berto. Also common sense tells you that Mosley's power at 147 >>>>>Ortiz.
Styles make fights. Ortiz and Mosley fight nothing alike.
Think power shots my dear Kev. Either way, Berto could never fight on the inside, which is where Mosley's domain remains to this day.
They make fight polar opposites but the way Ortiz loaded up his power shots reminded me clearly of when Mosley dispatched Margarito, except Berto has have a brain and talent to have at least some head movement.
c'mon man...
mosley has a better chin and a bigger punch than ortiz. plus mosley is a better hugger than berto. when it comes to slugging it out, mosley is way better than both and berto ain't no defensive master like wifebeater.
I think mosley stops berto late cause he's a better finisher than ortiz

That is a very different fight than what happened tonight, Ortiz was not going to be denied by Berto mucking it up, against Shane I could see him getting frustrated and thus losing his edge.
The risk was always there that Mosley would take out Berto but if Berto was able to hold up it could have gone either way.
