The first half of this fight was looking like FOTY but bertos non stop hugging and complete lack of stamina in the second half of the fight killed it. shame.
much respect to victor.

I agree with your point 100%. Berto would take a couple shots, then hug. Take a couple more, return one, then hug---gripping Ortiz's arms like he's wrestling.
Another Haymon fighters bites the dust.:lew:

yep, that's what I've been saying all along.
the fight got boring once berto gassed and started holding.
I'm glad ortiz was using his head and putting it right in berto's face.
if berto didn't hold so much, ortiz would've stopped him around the 10th.
fukk a berto!
BOOTY TIME!!!

I was there and I gotta say I thought if he didn't hold so much Ortiz would have finished him. Even the whole group of people behind me all berto fans were like WTF is he holding so much. Btw what a round 6*
The hugging was excessive but then the referee would break it up at the wrong times. When Berto is just standing there holding on to one of Ortiz's arms, but Ortiz's other arm is free hitting Berto, LET HIM HIT BERTO. You are rewarding him holding.
He also should have warned him earlier, and taken points eventually.
Holding is againt the rules of boxing, sometimes it's incidental. Other than that take points.
Berto was throwing some hard punches even in the second half that had me on the edge of my seat. Yeah the holding ruined it a bit, but there's still a pretty good chance of it being FOY. I think it's the best so far in the running at least.
We need more fukkin hard warnings and point deductions. What's wrong with these refs. Its against the fukkin rules. This problems persistent throughout sport and it should be addressed.
Yeah I was getting pissed with all the holding from Berto. If the ref took a point away from Ortiz for hitting behind the head he should of taken a point from Berto for excessive holding. Still FOY in my opinion though.
Well Ortiz did "some" of the hugging and was hitting behind the head but yea it was mainly Berto...he didn't have much left apparently...
dude, the comparison is huge! ortiz held like anyone else would. im curious now how much berto held ortiz.... i will go find out.:boxing:
Fight of the year is just as much about drama as it is about action. And the fact that both guys were capable of dropping the other just added to it... A KO could have happened at anytime... I mean, think about Khan vs Maidana... the first 9 rounds was Khan beating Maidana's ass with absolute ease... It wasn't fight of the year until the last 3 rounds...
