First off, well done Victor Ortiz on a good performance tonight.
Now, before we all get carried away and start slating Floyd Mayweather. This thread to merely ask, Why not?
I am not suggesting this fight is going to happen, nor do I think it will. It most likely won't.
My queston is; Why not? Do we see this as a likely option?
Would it not be a perfect tuneup for Manny Pacqiauo? Considering Victor Ortiz is a strong, fast, southpaw? Which at 147, it seems he is a much more active fighter.
He is now a title holder at 147, coming off the best win of his career AND is under Golden Boy Promotions.
And on top of all that, Victor Ortiz is not a difficult fight for Floyd Mayweather and I doubt Floyd believes it will be either, which means I can only presume he won't mind fighting him for his comeback fight.
Throw the fact he was sat ringside for the fight also.
Again, I reiterate; Why not? I can't see a single roadblock for why this fight couldn't be made.
Thoughts? Could this happen?
its gonna happen...Floyd vs Vic coming real soon!!! :cool2:
bernard hopkins says it's happening.... so it will...
the B.Hop dudes had the scoop from day one :lol1:
Okay no matter how much you hate him you gotta love an audience with Ali and the Parkinson interviews, its okay you don't have to admit it I know the truth :lol1:
Those are very entertaining shows and Ali was a born entertainer that's for sure.
Man, does the guy like to hear the sound of his own voice, though.
Those shows proved that much :lol1:
Don't bring Ali into this. F*ck Ali! :lol1:
No but you're right he was liked alot more here than in the US during his prime years even though he beat the piss out of Our 'Enry twice :lol1:
People were more fasinated by him more than anything and leaders writers like Hart and Co were fond of him too.

Yeah, its quite an interesting city, nice place to live.
Its actually pretty similar to Ali, he felt he was well received in the UK.

Thank God for that :lol1: I can't stand that accent.
:lol1: Wolves is mixed. In the nice areas it's pretty much all white areas whereas the rough areas such as ; Heath Town, Whitmore Reans (My area), Pendeford , Park Village are all big areas and are predominantly black, which kind of takes up most of the City. A very small one at that :lol1:

He got alot of love when he came to London. ALOT.
I think he was skeptical before he got here about how the UK were going to react to him but he really got alot of love from the fans here when he came to train in London.
I have been to Vegas numerous times to watch Mayweather fights and plenty other fighters in my lifetime but it would be great if big fights came over here more.

You UK dudes may be in luck in the future. I really think Floyd will fight Khan there. Hes been rambling on and on about the UK since he beat Ricky.

HELL NO! I have 2 accents, 1 for home and for anywhere else which is more London like, I've been told that my accent is anything but Bristolian (thank god). TBH most people I know don't have strong Bristol accent, the typical Bristol accent is more in the outskirts, I live in the heart of the city, St Pauls.
I actually went to Wolverhampton once, man I couldn't believe how many black people there were :lol1:

Great call Iron! This is a good fight, I'm just excited to see Floyd finally back in the ring with a real opponent. But unfortunately, we all know that he'll probably go on vacation again after he gets paid, sad but true. But I'll take whatever I can get, and like I said, I'm just glad he's back in the ring.
If its not Martinez or Pac afterwards, he should enjoy his vacation as far as I'm concerned.
I live here and grew up here but home is Africa. I live in Bristol but I use to live in North London, what about you?

Absolutely.
I went to the last one in London back in 2009. Was excellent.
You're from the UK?? No way?
Where about's?

You gonna try go to UK press conference/open workout? If they do actually come down here.
Absolutely.

Junior is a much better defensive fighter than Berto. I would expect Ortiz to have success early, but like other Mayweather oppoents, if he didn't hurt Floyd or put him down fairly early, I would expect Floyd to box his way to a comfortable decision or possibly late stoppage.

I'd love to see this fight....though after his performance on the weekend i don't think we could call it a tuneup, it would be a legit fight and perfect preparation for MP.
I think it depends on whether GBP want it to happen right NOW. They have alot of momentum with Vic, which could stop if he get's completely dominated by Mayweather. Maybe they want to use the buzz for a few fights before somethign like this happens. On the other hand if Ortiz puts in a solid performacne against Floyd he will get even morer recognition.
MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!
after seeing the peterson fight and the berto fight, id say ortiz is proly as ready as he'll every be. but does that mean he wins? not likely. but i didnt think hed win the berto fight either, so i wouldnt really underestimate the kid.
but this is a fight id definitely wanna see...the stylistic clash is something to look forward to should the fight be made. ortiz is a true form southpaw boxer-puncher, something berto/shane arent regardless of what they say.
Remember he's only a kid. Has only been in 1 fight where he was badly tested and he quit. Fair enough that was a while ago and I believe he has improved mentally and physically since then. But I just don't think he is ready to really test Pac or Floyd.
Yeah, he upset Berto. Props for that, I wasn't all suprised but still, props. But, Berto isn't Pac or Floyd..
But in terms of a legit opponent. I think it is.
