I was talking this over with friends tonite, and I presented this card which isnt too unreasonable
In the main event, you would have Juan Manuel Marquez moving up in weight to 140 to face Zab Judah for the IBF strap, and the opportunity to become the first Mexican fighter to win titles in 4 divisions
In the co main event, you would have Erik Morales facing Marcos Maidana in a rematch; winner would face Marquez/Judah winner; if Marquez were to win that fourth world title and Morales were to defeat Maidana, it would eventually set up a Marquez/Morales fight
Robert Guerrero vs Humberto Soto; Marquez would have vacated his lightweight titles, thus they could be put at stake in a fight between the next two best lightweights in the world; Should Soto make the move from Top Rank to Golden Boy, as he has been reported to now be a free agent, this fight would make logical sense
And the fight to open up the evening could be a returning fighter; perhaps a Juan Diaz, Danny Jacobs, or James Kirkland, a fighter of that caliber would be a nice addition to the card
Any thoughts, please feel free to speak what you think
Well you're proposing a triper header, where all 3 fights could easily headline
Soto didnt leave Top Rank and a Pac undercard to be a 3rd string fighter on a JMM PPV
Eh the card is all over the place, the main event wont sell
Call me ridiculous, but I think Marquez has a big enough fanbase to pull in a few buys; Judah is a hit and miss fighter, he never really fulfilled his potential, but I think he's recognizable enough to the masses, where a fight between him and Marquez could do good buys, that's just my take
Its nice to dream
Yeah, it's hard to picture Morales accepting the position of coslot, seeing as he just headlined a PPV last weekend and maintained he is still somewhat of a main event fighter; he did better numbers than Canelo v Hatton as well, and I doubt he would go for it, but maybe they could somehow work it out to be like the De La Hoya/Hopkins PPV before they fought, and push their egos to the side; and it's no sure thing Soto will go to Golden Boy, but one can dream
