Manny pretty much admitted that Martinez is too big for him. Floyd said in the post Mosley presser that Martinez could be considered, but that was millions of years ago. Why is this fight not happening? Wasn't Floyd coming back from retirement to take over the sport of boxing?
Yeah and don't expect me to think otherwise, we all know what would happen if Martinez were slow/ one-dimensional.
It would be signed, sealed and delivered.
That comes with the territory of boxing. I don't think anyone sees this as an easy task, just want Pacquiao to challenge himself, same goes for Floyd before I get hit with that.
there is challenging one's self and there is committing suicide.
Pac did challenge himself by going at the 154 lbs division at a catchweight of 150. He tried it, proved to himself that though he could win it, but the price was too much to pay in the form of severe damage to himself.
his camp already mentioned very shortly after that fight and weeks before martinez beat williams that they would stick to 147, since 154 is just too much for him.
the sad part in all of this is the fault of this ridiculous expectation on him lies on Pac himself. he made going up in weight look so easy that when he finally discovered his limits, people AUTOMATICALLY assume that he's ducking that weight class.
even martinez himself said Pac was too small for him (before he realized the money he could make fighting Pac and changed his mind)
Pac admitted that Martinez was too big for him. (what fighter do you know would be confident enough with himself to admit his limitations?)
its only people who aren't boxing themselves and have no idea of the risks involved who insist on these two fighting each other.
and are not marquez, hatton, cotto and mosley not skilled and athletic?
size matters man. lemme put it this way.
if you put two equally skilled fighters but with one fighter:
- having a 17 to 21 lbs weight advantage
- having a 2 1/2 inch height advantage
- having an 8 inch reach advantage
who do you think would win?
Pac already tried fighting a champion 17 lbs heavier than him and that was even at catchweight!
and in spite of winning, his hands were so swollen that he couldn't sign autographs AND he had to be hospitalized for severe body pains the very next day!
compare that to his fight with cotto wherein he hosted a concert the very night he won.
just looking at how much punishment his body took fighting margarito who barely dodged him and whom he simply OUTCLASSED, you could tell his body just cannot deal with that weight class. everyone has a limit and apparently for Pac its the 147 weight class.

He's on vacation.
Didn't say all that, at least admit that Martinez's athleticism and skills is why Pacquiao's team aren't confident in putting him in there with Sergio. Don't think Manny is scared either, I'm not of that belief that a fighter who's as elite/ as accomplished as Pacquiao is afraid of another human being :)
Just so you know.

yeah, yeah, i know. just like hatton, cotto and mosley were slow and one-dimentional.
and don't forget that not only does he fight slow, one-dimentional fighters, they have to be weight drained as well. Plus, he has to take a-side meth AND he has to have his fights fixed.
you know, just to make sure.

MARTINEZ is a JMW / MW...he is the one ducking a JWW/WW in Pacquiao. If anything the bigger guy is ducking the smaller guy, it can't go the other way around. :)
Everyone knew Mayweather would never fight Martinez, if he won't fight welters he isn't going to fight a middleweight, especially a southpaw. I laughed when Mayweather mentioned Martinez's name after his last fight. I was like "yeah right!"
Listen sweety,
Pacquiao went for his 8th title at 154 lbs. Again, 154 lbs. If he and his camp want to claim that they have a title at 154 pounds, then there is no reason why they cant fight Martinez at 154 pounds. Its as simple as that. If you say that Pacquiao is too small for 154 pounders, then you can't boast about his "8th title". Simple.As.That.
Manny with his 5'6" frame, his best fighting weight is trully the light welterweight division 140lbs.... We all know that and you have to agree to that as well, so Manny fighting at welterweight are already legendary feats that only Manny dares to do.. But still Manny was able to conquer and dominate the division, then the question of will Manny finally reach the dead end in his weight climbing? Is it the WW division or will he go up some more till he gets beaten to a pulp and be injured for life? Then Manny tried one more time, he did win, he did dominate, but Manny felt the bigger risks in staying in the 154lbs division.... We all know and even the Pactards have to admit that Manny is a beatable guy at WW, the desired fighting limit of Manny... Cotto, Clottey, Margarito and now Mosley had/have a chance at winning against Manny, they just have to amped up their game, so Manny winning/dominating this series of opponents are already legendary by themselves... You know what's the difference between Floyd and Manny, Floyd is a great fighter with great skills, skills that is more than enough to conquer and dominate the WW division and can still go up 2 more divisions and dominate those as well... While Manny is a great fighter with great skills, but skills that can be beaten, Manny knows it but still he dares to fight the fight, push himself beyond his capabilities for him to win the fight, that's what makes him greater than Floyd....
Pac already mentioned that even 150 at catchweight was too much for him. he tried it, found it too dangerous for him and didn't even bother defending the belt.
but for some reason, this simple fact fails to register to people like you.
Yeah and don't expect me to think otherwise, we all know what would happen if Martinez were slow/ one-dimensional.
Because he has personal issues to handle. Namely the issue with his wife, court, and the possibility of going to jail or losing his kids. Whichever.
When that gets settled he can think about boxing again. Seeing how he has IRS issues as well.
At least it makes sense for him to do what he does. Where as Pacquiao doesn't have highly publicized issues and still rather fight a foot in the grave old man.
That didn't stop him from fighting in 2003.
My bad, I didn't realize you were trolling at first.
Again you're not answering the question...what part of MUTUAL CONTRACT/AGREEMENT don't you understand?
Before a fight both fighters agree to it...so whatever it is, it is FAIR. Do you want Martinez to fight Juan Manuel Marquez in a 130 weight division? Answer that straight up, because if you can't then Martinez could be ducking Marquez or vice versa (if Marquez won't go up 154 at least)...:poke:
Not to get off topic, but Sergio has issues challenges to Floyd and Manny, it doesn't matter why Floyd or Manny wont fight Sergio, the fact about it NEITHER WONT!!! So if they both won't fight him, there both in the same damn boat, so stop trying to pick on Floyd because Manny wont fight him either.
How big is Oscar and Margarito??
How big was Clottey?
Stop the excuses 2501.
the fukk are you talking about? I said thats what Manny is saying which in essence is saying he's ducking. Have you not been reading what I've posted in here? Stop selective reading.
Thread's title is clear. Pactards need to stop being so sensitive and stay away from this thread. Let's just assume or accept that Pac is ducking Martinez and his reason is Sergs is too big for him. Fine.
How about Floyd? What is his reason? I'd like to know, too. He's been on record saying that Pac is an easy fight. Plus no test, no fight. Here comes Sergio. Not exactly easy. Willing to take blood test. What now? Why is he not being asked this whenever he comes out?
He can answer by saying the usual low reward talk, but at least fans have something to chew on.
