Why do fighters do this? I can understand showing off against a top class fighter or a fight where in the beginning the result could arguably go either way but when an opponent is essentially put in the ring as fodder for your resume it looks pathetic as far as I'm concerned.
I was essentially reminded of how annoying I find this **** when Malignaggi fought Cotto. It was just incredibly disrespectful and I wanted him to get brutally KOed the moment he started doing that shit.

calzaghe springs to mind, wot a clown!!!
Against the likes of James Toney? No. Against fighters who were picked for the sole purpose of keeping busy or a tune up? Yes.
I didn't like Roy's showboating either, and when Calzaghe gave him a taste of his own medicine I didn't feel sorry for him.
Live by the sword and all that.

I agree, it shows a distinct lack of class.
Paulie is never going to get brutally KOd. He was also fighting one-handed and still showboating. I dig it.
Showboating is part of his style. It was part of Ali's, Jones', Surgar Ray's, and Calzaghe's style. Its just what they do.
Let me see if you're consistent. Roy Jones did it on many occasions. Was it disgusting?

Wow two losses puts you in journeyman territory these days?
I hate other boxing fans.
He is talking about Jose Cotto, and he is indeed a journey at thsi point, he is a career LW fighting at WW wich is clearly not a division he has any bussiness in!!!!
Does it make it any less repulsive in your eyes then?
nah fast guys like rjj, SRL, ali get a pass. Malignaggi isnt even that quick so he gets no pass, just trying to look good against a nobody.
How is Cotto a journeyman he had 2 losses.
probably because he lost every time he stepped up and he only beat other journeyman. maybe according to his record he wasn't a journeyman but in spirit he was .that draw he got was also a huge gift.
he's not show boating he's dropping his hands knowing the other fighter will throw a punch than he will look for an opening to counter with
yeah i know
just trying to make the poster realise the stupidity of his post.. Ali of course is an ATG, i did not mean disrespect. Though Sergio is not on Alis level, he got skills. Saying he hasnt cause he keeping his hands low is IMO stupid..
sergio martinez isn't showboating when he keeps his hands low against those eurobums. he just hasn't learned a proper boxing stance yet.
whats with you *****ing about sergio Martinez in every thread its getting old man .... Martinez is the ****
