I was under the impression that Morales was just not very good based on how easily Pac ran through him.
Apparently Morales is a lot better than I or even he gave himself credit for. There is no reason he shouldve retired at age 29. He is one of the smartest technical boxers Ive ever seen, and couldve dominated any division that Pacquiao was not apart of.
Pacquiao makes extraordinary fighters like Morales look normal.

WTF
"Apparently Morales is a lot better than I or even he gave himself credit for"
i stoping reading there F**K YOU PACTARD YOU DONT KNOW SH*T ABOUT BOXING YOU SCUM
Maidana may be bigger and more powerful than Pacquaio but they are different fighters!
More of a credit to Morales for putting on a performance like that against Maidana. Also much credit to get a victory over Manny Pacquaio when he was well past his prime back then, when he was expected to lose!
My respect for Erik Morales went up even higher last night!
yea pac is so great that he refused to give jmm a fight after he whooped him twice
so if you believe jmm whooped pac twice, why then is it necessary that they fight for the third time?
Yup, I had said that his post was a total fail. Thanks for adding another point!
yea pac is so great that he refused to give jmm a fight after he whooped him twice and we've seen what floyd did to jmm, i know pactards will say that floyds came in heavier that night but i guess its ok for pac to fight weight drained top rank bumms who cant pull the trigger anymore ,have fun him fighting mosley (floyds 3rd left over) the guy they didnt want to fight a few years ago.

You expose your lack of boxing knowledge with this quote bro.
JoeyZags shows once again that he is the worst poster on this forum and the biggest joke on boxingscene.
You are such a simple minded dingleberry and it's not even funny.
Thing is, he's good enough to stomp Ortiz and give Khan hell. That Morales did so well and arguably beat Maidana either says a lot about how good even a crap, shot Morales is or says even more about how bad 140 just might be. Kotelnik was a good technical boxer that kept the fight in the middle of the ring and Maidana lost a controversial decision many think he should have won.
nothing controversial about Kotelniks wins over Maidana imo,it was a very close fight that could have gone either,i feel Kotelnik gets very underrated these days anyway
You fukking Pactards are straight up retarded and know nothing about boxing, who cares about Pacquiao right now? Did you also know Barrera beat him? I don't see you making a thread about him, but what can you expect from fans who started following the sport after Pacquiao beat De La Hoya.
This statement just shows how stupid Pactards really are
"I was under the impression that Morales was just not very good"
SMFH!
Uh...Pacquiao destroyed Barrera twice...
Morales wasted 4 years of his prime(Age 30-33) in retirement, all because he lost to the greatest fighter in the world.
Morales couldve been champion at lightweight all this time. A shame really....
he didnt retire after fighting manny..david diaz retired him

not true...morales has never been stopped before fighting pacman...him having lost to raheem as the basis of him being shot is ridiculously inaccurate...raheem was just a bad style matchup for erik...duran looked like sh1t overall in the rematch vs srl....., laing, hearns, hagler was years later so it means that if pac's win over erik aint all that then hearns, and hagelr's win over duran aint that good either....
losing to Raheem didn't conclude he was shot. But it concluded he was past prime. But like I have said over and over again, his 2nd win over Morales is solid. Nothing more, nothing less.
Duran didn't look like sh*t in the 2nd Sugar Ray Leonard fight, at all. It was a reasonably close fight up until the No Mas. So that point means nothing,
Hagler's win over Duran isn't all that, at all.
Hearn's win over Duran was a solid win. Vs. a past prime Duran in his 3rd weight class. However the way he did it was obviously very good.
So yeah, your own examples pretty much conclude that Pacqiauo's win over Morales 'ain't all that'.
Thanks for making this much easier.
some posters on here are crazy....
maidana isn't a very experienced fighter. he has flaws and losses to fighters on his caliber. an experienced veteran with some left in him would have done what morales did to him last night, stop blowing maidana up as a proven monster.
I agree with everything Maidana is truly terrible, and thanks for the link yesterday, much appreciated.

I thought Corley beat him and I have said 140 was overrated as hell for a long time.
Right, Maidana is just not that good man. A good technical boxer that keeps the fight in the middle of the ring will beat him.

It's NOT crazy.
Morales was not given any chance BEFORE the fight. The HBO commentators looked embarrassed BEFORE the start of the fight that they even had anything to do with this fight happening. They kept on saying "its Morales that wanted it".
After the first round, they (HBO) said it was going as expected ..... since Morales already had a swollen eye and had a bad first round.
You mean Randolph Turpin? The HOF'er?
Duran was closer to his prime when he lost to Laing than Morales was when he fought Pacqiauo. And Duran wasn't in his prime.
Morales was shot when he fought Pacqiauo, atleast the 3rd time. The 2nd fight he was past his best but a solid win none the less. Solid, nothing more nothing less.
And Morales is clearly still shot. He's just that good that even though he's shot he can still arugbally beat Maidanna level fighters.

They should delete this thread. Did you see the 1st fight between Morales vs. Pacquiao? Morales gave him a beating! Your obviosley a Pacquiao nutt hugger. Pacquiao didint make Morales look normal in the 2nd and 3rd fight, it just made him look even more shot than he was in the 1st fight.he won, it was hardly a beating.
Yeah, he's not that good. But he is dangerous.
It's still pretty phenominal that Morales can get in the ring with Maidanna at this stage and argubally win.
Absolutely. He is dangerous, but I was pretty upset with Ortiz when he lost to him because he should have beat the guy. And, I thought that Khan could had a much easier time with him as well.
