If a boxer gets knocked down 3 times in the first round its probably best to stop the fight. Boxers are often kept on the canvas after a fight is stopped for medical reasons although Kirkland didn't look too out of it. What if Cortez let the fight continue and then Kirkland got seriously hurt you would probably say the fight should have been stopped earlier right?
3 KD rule was not in effect you moron.
He could get dropped 4 or 5 times, but if he's able to get up each time, he should be given the opportunity to prove himself.
You silly woman - this sport is not for little girly men like you. Stick to indoor volleyball or table tennis, you damn queer. :bottle:
I do think the fight was stopped premature, because as i say if you look at the olden day fights, it is a different sport now.
No **** faggit but he didnt show the ability to defend himself and everything that landed badly hurt him. Ive seen you before lil ***** you something like rab all talk while weighing about 50 pounds stfu and show some respect to a man who could kill you with his bare hands
My only problem with last night is that its worlds away from the olden days of boxing, where the boxer was seriously hurt and the other boxer could stand over the stricken boxer waiting for them to get up so they can attack again. If i could rewind time, i would protect those boxers like they are protected now.
First thing I noticed! What the **** was with pinning him down with his knee?? Kirkland wasn't as hurt as I expected him to be (caught the replay) as it wasn't like his eyes were all over the place or anything. I think he should have given him the oppotunity to beat hte count.
James Kirkland got owned either way as it was bad enough he was dropped to begin with!
no matter how crappy kirkland looked, he deserved a 10 count and an opportunity to try and get on his feet.
cortez thought this was WWE or something and he gave kirkland a 3 count. wtf.
I don't think the 3 KD rule had anything to do with it. Cortez prob thought after the 2nd one, "If he goes down again Im waving it off". I think he was right too, Kirkland was getting hurt by nearly every shot. He was done.
As many bad performances as Cortez has had in his career this really isn't one of them.
If the shoe was on the other foot and it was Ishida down 3 times in the first round and Cortez had stopped it in exactly the same way no one would be complaining whatsoever. The fact is Kirkland was wobbling all over the place getting tagged not throwing back.
early stoppage yeah it probably was but hardly an outrageous bad stoppage Kirkland was out of it.
Cortez should have at-least given Kirkland the opportunity to make it to his feet - I'm sick of these incompetent refs - how did this clown get into the IBHOF?
Surely it has nothing to do with over 3 decades of refereeing, including 100+ world title fights.
he didnt show the ability to defend himself and everything that landed badly hurt him.
Totally agree Kirkland had 0 defence and was getting hit flush all round 3 KD rule or no. Kirkland was gonna get hurt if it continued.
Not a fan of Cortez but Kirkland was over hyped and lost to a decent boxer. who cares if he doesn't have a KO% he was hitting flush and often.
You have no concept whatsoever of giving a fighter the opportunity to prove he is able to continue - wrestling a fighter to the mat, pinning him down with your legs and disabling him from rising to his feet is not fair or proper officiating, it's down right incompetent, I don't give a shit how many accolades he has received and that he's an IBHOF inductee, that is utterly ridiculous.
I'm not even huge on Kirkland but he wasn't given a fair shake.
Taking absolute nothing away from Ishida - he fought for his people tonight and I was happy he got the W.
Juanma is a coward.
I would tear your head off in real life, son. Don't kid yourself - you fucking little faggot.
:haha: I actually like you that made me laugh and you argued your point well even though i still disagree.......your lil ***** ass couldnt last 5 minutes in my world but im sure you would try

No Shit, but he has everything to do with not giving him the opportunity to get up. He practically pinned him to the canvas.
Get Real, son. :bottle:
The dude got destroyed the next step was him getting hurt. Cortez did his job and gave him a chance to show he could fight back and all he did was get dropped like a sac of **** 2 more times:bottle::bottle:
If you look at the olden day fights to that fight last night it is a different sport now. I think kirklaing could have got up and knocked the guy out in the next round if he was allowed to see out the round. He was just a little shaky.
Kirkland was done. Fair stoppage nothing to complain about. Cortez done his job and saved him from further punishment. Kirkland just wasn't in Ishida's league.
It was definitely a premature stoppage I think. Kirkland definitely looked like he would have been able to get up if Cortez didn't pin his ass down. Although I don't think he would have survived the round given how Ishida pounced on him after the 2nd KD. With that said, Cortez had no business doing what he did. He should have given him the count and if he couldn't respond AFTER he got up then call it off, don't pin the guy down when he's trying to get up.
It wasn't for a belt so why should the sanctioning bodies be involved. There's no kd rule in effect for that fight.
they are involved if guys are trying to get rated or go up in the ratings, sanctioning bodies have their hand in everything.........
