Im sick of people saying that Lewis's punch caused the cut. Yeah, I think it was a punch, but an illegal one. Lets go to the rules
"They are prohibited from holding the ropes for support when punching, holding an opponent while punching, or ducking below the belt of their opponent. If a "clinch," a defensive move in which a boxer wraps his or her opponents arms and holds on to create a pause, is broken by the referee, each fighter must take a full step back before punching again."
The punch happened at 2:50 in the third round where Lewis grabbed and held Vitali, the ref told them to break, and then lewis while holding hit Vitali. It was an illegal punch, history will remember it as a DQ.
Vitali fans awfully quiet about the kick. :buttkick:check your user CP - i would be surprised if you haven't been called a 'racist, black boy' or 'n--ger.
that's how some of these fella's like to get down.
History will remember it as a TKO victory for Lewis, because that's exactly what happened!
Excessive holding is also against the rules so you could make a case for the Klits being DQ'd in any of their fights! fvcken muppet!tell 'em. Jeffrey Butler for the win!

Ah, the last great Heavyweight Championship fight.
Lewis vs Vitali
Last month during the media conference call for the Vitali/Solis fight I asked them about eachother because Lennox and Vitali were on the call together...
KnockoutDigest.com "Hi Lennox. Hi Vitali. I think I speak for most boxing fans when I say that boxing hasn't seen a competitive, truly memorable heavyweight championship fight since the fight between the two of you. That said, Vitali, was Lennox Lewis your toughest opponent to date and the same question to Lennox, was Vitali your toughest challenger?"
Vitali Klitschko: "In all my career I never meet so strong an opponent as Lennox Lewis, I never took so many punches, I never look so horrible like this fight. Definitely it was one of the hardest fights, and I'm appreciative that Lennox gave me chance to prove my skills against the strongest boxer of all time, I have a lot of experience as an amateur and professional and I can definitely say Lennox Lewis was the hardest fight in my career."
Lennox Lewis: "When you say hardest fight in my career, he was definitely the, uh... It was a hard hard fight. He was a guy I had to figure out. And when I say figure out, the man wasn't easy to hit. Plus he was WAY taller than me and had longer arms than me. My last major opponent before that was you know Mike Tyson so to adapt to his different qualities such as the height and the reach, was a challenge to me. He was a big challenge, and one of the toughest fights."
So...
Vitali may have been rippin mad when that fight was stopped, but in the years since that fight his attitude seems to have softened and he gives Lennox Lewis nothing but total respect and credit as his toughest opponent. Maybe you Vitali fans should do the same.
As for Lewis, as I recall, after the fight he did not want to give any credit to Vitali and he acted like the fight was no big deal, "look at the state of his face" etc, and he was very annoyed with Larry Merchant for asking about why the fight was so tough/etc. Today he at least seems willing to start giving Vitali proper credit, but compared to how he was in the minutes after the fight (no credit to Vitali) he has come a long way.

WAAAAAHHHH!!!!! The guy in the ring with me cut my face open by punching me!!!!! He's racist, no one a Klitschko fights should be allowed to punch back!!!!! WWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That cut was the best thing that ever happened to Vitali. Saved him from being KOed within 2 or 3 rounds and gave him his only claim to being a legitmately good HW.
To to be honest he was lucky to even be ahead in the fight anyway.
Lol. Lummox was behind on points and totally exhausted and spent he slumped down in his corner like a sack of potatoes.
He got lucky and he knew it himself. If Vitali with 10 days notice could take Lummox to hell then a Vitali prepared for a championship fight would kill him. If Lummox didnt agree with this assessment he'd have given Vitali the rematch he had promised.
Im sick of people saying that Lewis's punch caused the cut. Yeah, I think it was a punch, but an illegal one. Lets go to the rules

Nah history will remember it as:
2003-06-21 Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis at Staples Center, Los Angeles, California, United States
Lennox Lewis W TKO 6

LL was just starting unload with his big shots and if went any longer VK would be KO'd. VK also fought dirty, he actually kicked Lennox on the ground.

Lennox is the antonio margarito of HW's he's a cheater. The ref was either bribed or incompetant. It is disgusting and thank god he retired in fear and shame and the Klitschko's came and cleaned up the sport.
WADA tried to clean up the sport by suspending Vitali, but unfortunately they couldn't keep it clean forever.
A fat, out-of-shape, Lewis literally destroyed Vitali's face. Get over it.
Maybe Vitali should have been DQ'd for his attempt to KICK the Heavyweight Champion of the World Lennox Lewis. Oh, you don't remember that happening? You didn't notice it? Well, you're not alone, it seems like neither ref nor Lewis noticed it, and that Vitali got away with it. Luckily for him, his kick missed, or history might remember this fight a little differently.

At 2:52 the boxers fall to the canvass.
At 2:54 a frustrated Vitaly takes a kick at Lennox.
Nobody seems to notice...
Lennox even helps Vitali get up after that little stunt.
Its ovious that the TS has never stept a foot in a boxing ring. When you are fighting you dont think about the rules, al you wanna do is win. you dont get dq for little fauls like holding and hitting .
