Not sure if this has been posted yet, but did anyone happen to catch the season finale of Lights Out last night? Paulie Malignaggi and John Duddy made cameo appearances and actually had speaking parts in the show.
Now that the first season is over, what does everyone think of the show? Despite having the usual corny and unrealistic boxing dialogue here and there, it's a good show. Much better than I had originally expected it to be.
I don't know any details. The Ring Magazine had a little piece on the "Fight Doctor" section, basically they were talking about Terry Norris and how badly he slurs, I believe he has boxer's dementia and how he should have been prevented from fighting the last few times...they mentioned he's working on a documentary about himself and the need for a union or medical coverage for fighters.
You can read about it and his foundation on his website:
http://www.terrynorris.net/finalfight.php
Terry is currently working on a documentary that covers his boxing life in detail and why forming a union for boxing is a must. He keeps very busy by working on his book, and his foundation "The Final Fight". He is thankful everyday for his wife and her help and motivation.
Our mission is to serve as a catalyst for the under-served athletes in health and retirement assistance, during and after their careers.
In creating the Final Fight Foundation*, we will be able to provide services to develop a life plan and help build assets for a better life. The Foundation will provide an outlet and resources for fighters to ask questions and get answers.
Key Goals:
* Provide health insurance
* Financial services
* Non-biased counseling
* Education support
* Self Empowerment
Okay cool thanks for the info and I would love to see something like this be made for all professional boxers.

They had Duddy, Manfredo, Malignaggi, and Vivian Harris. They canceled the show for next year and the season finale had the worst production of all the episodes. Lights Leary ends up getting punchdrunk, a champion with a busted mind....his family's worst fears realized...just the way to ensure no season 2.
So there's not gonna be a 2nd season for sure?
I liked the first season, kept me interested, and the season finale with my boy Paulie made it that much more ILL!..haha..
I was hoping for a season two, but you're making me lose hope, lol, what's the details behind it not being picked up for a follow up?
FX is done with the show.
So the only hope is for Lights Out to get picked by another network.
Which is quite the longshot.
It's a shame because the show was really liked by fans and critics and got mostly good reviews. The show is being canceled due to low ratings, which isn't even that relevant considering we live in the day and age of DVR, online streaming, downloads, etc.
I saw Peter Manfredo in there as well.
It would have been awesome if there was a season 2, to see where that would have led - fighting for a boxing union? that's awesome. That could have brought light to real life and sparked much needed debate about the same issues - boxers need protection, they need medical, etc.
btw, it was a great season finale. It's a damn shame it wasn't picked up for season 2.

on a side note, and somewhat related, I heard there will be a documentary on Terry Norris soon, which will be just about that - the need for a boxing union.
that would be very interesting do you know what network is going to air it?
