Wow this thread has been going on the whole time I have been off.
Have we evolved from moron to semi-moron yet or do we still believe Hopkins is greater than Monzon?
Someone fill me in.
hugh grant is still very active in here, so that should answer part of the question.
don't recall anyone saying hopkins>monzon though

What triangle theories are you talking about? B-Hop still beat formidable Joppy...Just STFU and leave the thread.
You said BH win over Tito was as good as Pacs win over Barrera, just because tito beat Joppy in 5 rounds. Tito didnt beat DLH or Witaker like that in 5 rounds.
Tito isnt as good as Barrera, or JMM.
When Hopkins fought Joppy, you can say that Joppy was contender.
However, when Tito fought Joppy, Joppy was at worse the 2nd best MW at the time. Some thought thee best.
And, the way Tito destroyed Joppy is what made the Hopkins win over Tito so damn good.
Pac Barrera win is the only win Pac has that can be ranked higher than that Tito win for B-Hop.
agreed.
I go really with Bhop based on his longevity fighting very solid to elite comp and I also am one of those that appreciates ruling a weight class as opposed to jumping around and collecting trinkets.
Triangle theories dont work so i dont give BH extra credit for the win over Felix trinidad, just because he beat Joppy. I honestly thought BH would beat Tito as Titos main strenght was punch power.
Titos main asset was punching power, and BH being a boxer can deal with boxers whose main asset is power. Its the boxers BH has trouble with.
at least you make an effort hugh grant. but there is no way to give you enough of these:
:pat::pat:

That's true to an extent though.Because when U talk about that in this tread especially,U leave an open window for a brutal attack on Pacman.Because B-Hop was the champion defending a title period.
No you don't. Because, is obvious I was talking lineage. And, neither the Diaz nor the Marg win were lineage. So unless you're going to mention his lineage victories. You have no leg to stand on.
While Pacman at 135 & at 154 title fights were worse than any B-Hop title defense.
Yes, B-hop win over Marrade Hakkar is better than the Diaz and Marg win
:dunce:
Please stop posting about Pac, you lose credibility by the day.
Well if it didn't seem close enough to you to go to Pac way. Then it was a blatant robbery. If there is no way Pac won that fight then it's a blatant robbery. You're just contradicting yourself.
Well then start talking about other things that Manny does. So far in our back-to-forth all you have mention is his recent string.
Then Oscar was Pac last real challenge and risky fight. That's what you're saying right?
anyone saying pac jmm was a robbery is not worth g=having a discussion with
Can't believe the hate for Joppy in this thread, though most of it seems to be coming from people who don't know what they are talking about. Dude was a very solid middleweight and was considered the second best behind Hopkins when Tito destroyed him.
yea, they weren't really around at the time. not like us old folks
First off-I never said it was a blatant robbery.Hey,I have seen worst. It was competitive, but imo Marquez won this.It didn't seem close enough to me to go Manny's way.
Likewise,I never said Manny's recent career was his WHOLE career.Don't put words in my mouth dude.
It is not silly to assume being an underdog is taking a risk or challenge. In fact, usually when the fighter is an underdog, there is a major risk assumed, because of certain factors (with Hopkins it is usually because his age,his opponent is faster/more athletic,or stronger, etc). The connection between being an underdog and the fight being a potential risk is not outlandish by any logic.

stop looking at boxrec.
Joppy was considered a strong titlist amongst boxing folks at the time, not sure if you remember. Journeymen don't defend their WBA middleweight titles like 5 times Iron Mike, then win it back.
What's your excuse for calling Glen Johnson a journeyman too?
Joppy did go to Japan and rip his belt. If you defend the WBA title 5 times, you were a contender. Even Cherifi is more than a journeyman. I'm not saying Joppy is a top middleweight titlist, but he was considered a strong guy and a contender at the time, and he WAS NOT a journeyman. He was a world class contender, but by no means elite.

Joppy best wins:
Howard Eastman- journeyman
Roberto Duran- shot/journeyman
Is this the resume of a top contender to you?

Yeah
Cool
Yeah of course I take it into account too, but its a bit silly to just reduce an argument down to that, Hopkins win over Tito is far greater than his win over Jones because even though Tito is the smaller guy in that example, other factors are involved in ranking a win or a whole resume.
True
Are you talking about their fight night weights?
Yeah
The thing is naturally bigger opponents can take you punches better and there is a good chance that their punches can hurt you. That is why I take stuff like that into account.
