To tell you the truth, I'm not interested in the fight to begin with. I understand devoted Pacquiao fans being interested, but as just a fan of Pacquiao, there is nothing appealing about this fight, hence, nothing appealing about what Showtime is doing. We are learning nothing new from the Mosley/Pacquiao camp.

the first ever 24/7 did massive ratings with dlh/floyd. Two very intriguing people. Show was very captivating and won emmy awards. Then the fight came around and turned away alot of casuals. You're an idiot if you think a tv series makes or breaks boxing. boxing has been and always be about what happens in the ring. Casuals don't give a **** about anything else. By having casuals introduced to this fight that normally wouldn't have is already a win. then if they turn into the fight its another win because they will enjoy this fight. Don't try to talk business on a fuken boxing forum. ESPN, FSN, HBO, SHOWTIME, CBS, FOX SPORTS, AZTECA......What else do you want? You think boxing is going to take over glee on ABC primetime? GTFOH. This show is nothing but positive no matter how much you think you know what you're talking about.
I stopped reading right there.
Go back and read and tell me where I ever said a TV series. I keep saying the deal between CBS and Top rank could make or break boxing ever going back to the networks.
Again if you're not going to read what I post. Then there's no reason to even talk.
The deal with CBS/Showtime and top rank could make or break boxing ever going back to the networks. If they do it right, it could be awesome, if they fuck it up. It will kill any network being interesting in going into the boxing business. But, who cares right?

Your argument is becoming fragmented. I actually agree with the first part of what I quoted... but what does that have to do with the actual bout of Pacquiao vs. Mosley and FC360? You trash FC360 and I don't know why. It will not hurt boxing like you claim, quite the opposite actually.
Your beef lies with FC360 and the matchup when it should be directed towards Top Rank, CBS, Showtime, and the politics involved. FC360, Pacquiao, and Mosley have nothing to do with it.
Actually, I haven't trashed FC360, I said I'm not interested in it. If that's trashing the show, then OK I trashed it.
If you go back and read, where the argument started, a poster said this helps boxing because it brings it back to the networks. My argument to him was hold on. Because, we do not know how it could affect it.
Because, the deal could make or break boxing ever going back to the network.
It could work out beautifully and get boxing back on the network.
Or it could be a disaster and no network will ever even think about getting into the boxing business. And, that hurts the sports. Is not hard to comprehend.
And, the worrisome part is that CBS has kind of giving Top rank full control, just like versus did. ESPN nor Fox Sports has giving Top rank full control.
The deal with CBS/Showtime and top rank could make or break boxing ever going back to the networks. If they do it right, it could be awesome, if they fuck it up. It will kill any network being interesting in going into the boxing business. But, who cares right?
...
Again, showing crap on the networks hurts the sport more so than it helps. How can you mofo's not see that?

First of all you don't have to tell me anything about Arum and Top rank. Because, I have been one of the most vocals in defending them.
But, just like I praise Arum's ideas which are great for the sport. I criticize he's ideas that hurts the sport.
No you're wrong the point of all of this is to bring boxing back to the networks. Arum has talked about this, just like how he always wanted to take boxing out of the casinos and take it to stadiums. Which he has done. And, it was great for the sport.
So the point of this is to have CBS show boxing fights. There was talks of Chavez-Zbik being on CBS. Not very likely now, cuz' I think HBO will show it. Which they will pay more money for.
But, the bigger picture is to bring boxing back to the networks. That's the whole point in having Pac, one of the biggest names in boxing, being showcase on the network.

Having Top rank being the only promotional company in the deal. Is quite worrisome, since top rank has already fucked up a network deal already, when they Tye Field and Yuri Foreman'd us to death.
It won't surprise if we will see Tommy Z headlining a card on CBS.
Again, showing crap on the networks hurts the sport more so than it helps. How can you mofo's not see that?
I agree with you on this. Hopefully it's only Pac vs __________ and Cotto vs _______ being show on CBS....you know only the big names from the Top Rank Stable.
umm no you made a reference that top rank was killing boxing and that's why versus no longer has them(which is wrong), and the poster countered you quite nicely by saying top rank is now on espn and fox sports, two networks bigger and giving more exposure to boxing. You are a fuken idiot. You don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about, just STFU.
Ummm...I actually never made that reference. Especially since I consider them the best promotional company in the sport. And, by a mile. Maybe learning how to read would help.
So we could have had 3 networks showing fights regularly, instead of two. But, it's OK because the two that are showing it are bigger networks. But, that doesn't take away that we could of had an extra network involved in boxing. Which would have meant more boxing, which is what boxing fans want no?
Just STFU, if you can't comprehend.
you couldn't be any more wrong. The goal of these series are to make people aware of the fight and learn a little about the fighters. They're not trying to put on a fuken all time great tv series. This is what you call ADVERTISEMENT. It's nothing more, and if you think it is then you're wrong. There's alot of casuals that will watch this fight or have learned about this fight and boxing through this series. They're trying to get people to watch the fight and who ever does watch this fight will be glad they did. Its a good fight for the casuals because both fighters come to fight and it's an interesting match up. Casuals don't give a **** about the stuff we do. they just want to tune in and see a good back and forth fight. They care ABOUT NOTHING ELSE!!
Top Rank has single handedly kept boxing alive. They have the only stars that have kept boxing running these last 4 years.

Oh I see, I guess boxing fans don't want other networks to show even more boxing.
What kind of fans are you people.

ummm what?!? How exactly is this fight going to hurt those chances? We're talking about Manny Pacquiao, the most entertaining fighter in the ring today. If anything, its a postive because Manny puts on a show and has lots of fans. People love the guy. Sure, its not the best fight available but you can bet your dollar that it will be very entertaining to the fans who watch it.
Who gives a crap about Versus? Boxing is already on ESPN and Fox Sports, two networks that are bigger than Versus. We're talking about Network TV like CBS and right now, this is great for boxing.
But Shane is coming off a draw and a loss, so it hurts the sport. How, I have no clue?
Somehow Boxing being back on network television is a bad thing, because I don't know... Shane is old? I don't personally care for this one fight?
That makes sense, right?
That's fine and dandy as long as you realize of what you call "whining" is actually expressing an opinion that is as equal as yours.
Would you call what you're saying "whining" about people who criticize the event? I wouldn't is all opinion. That is what message boards are for. It would be quite boring if we all agreed.
Reading comprehension is not your strong point eh?
Lets try this again, shall we? If what they're showing is crap it could hurt more so than help it.
And, don't be an idiot cuz' it could hurt the sport. This deal with CBS can make or break boxing every going back to the networks. And, if the what they're showing on CBS is crap. Then why would any network ever, even entertain the thought of having boxing back? Why?
Top Rank is the reason why versus will not get into the pro boxing business. Because, Top rank killed boxing for that network. Which hurts the sport.

Top Rank has single handedly kept boxing alive. They have the only stars that have kept boxing running these last 4 years. Versus has had their own financial problems the last few years. They've had problems with comcast and directv financially and that's why they've cut back on their programming. If you knew a little you would know that. Top rank had nothing to do with it. In fact top rank has boosed Fox Sports Network's rating since they starting doing their boxing show with them.

Because, if they show crap then it could kill any chance boxing going back to any network.
This deal can make or break boxing going back to the networks.
And, if this kills that opportunity it hurts the sport.
How can anybody not get this?
We already don't have boxing on Versus, and why is that?
ruining boxing to get back on networks hurt the sport.

You'r an idiot dude. You can speak all you wan't doesn't mean your opinion is valid or true. You already don't like the fight to begin with so your opinion is already tainted with biasness. This does nothing but HELP the sport you love. When was the last time you seen boxing on primetime NATIONAL TV??? You should be happy that the masses can see this and maybe warm up to the idea of watching the fight and following boxing. Boxing is going no where with a bunch of geeks typing on a keyboard complaining about everything. Stuff like this is what can help boxing get back into the spot light. You should be glad that boxing is even getting this attention. Being on NATIONAL TV in a prime time slot is a HUGE thing. Quit *****ing and don't watch. I hope millions of people catch this on CBS if it means getting the attention of casuals again and bringing boxing back to state it was in the 90's.
I also forgot to mention that many of Tyson bouts, that were huge mismatches, brought many people to the sport. How that hurts boxing is beyond me.
I mean this is almost no chance that this will be boring as Shane will not run or hug (ala Andre Berto). The only scenarios I see are:
1. This being a back n forth slug fest for a few rounds.
2. Manny dominating Shane.
Either way, there were be action, which is all the casual fans care about.
Sorry but I don't buy this. Casual fans simply saw a lackluster fight in DLH/Mayweather. And while it's true that some casuals may not have come back (probably an insignificant percentage), boxing's true core viewer base remained unaffected, i.e. one lacking fight is not going to make a hardcore fan stop watching altogether. It didn't "hurt the sport."
This may not be a good thing to bring up since this board is largely anti-MMA, but I visited the Sherdog forums right after the Pac-Marg fight, and many of the hardcore MMA fans not only saw the fight, but commented that it was a "great fight" even though it was a one-sided beating. Does it mean much? No. But the casual viewership response was positive.
While this fight is very lacking to the hardcore boxing fan (I'm personally not very interested but will probably tune in anyway), it is good for boxing, if only for Pacquiao's style. Many casual fans feel like they get their money's worth with Pacquiao fights, no matter one-sided they may be. I'm sure he --along with the sport-- has picked up tons of casual fans in his last few fights, and will continue to do so with Mosley in the opposite corner.
I was about to say the same thing.
I mean look at Tyson vs Sheldon, Tyson vs McNeely and Tyson vs Bruno. People d@mn well knew the outcome of those fights but those bouts still did big numbers, PPV wise.
People were tuning in to see action (Tyson bouts) and that is what they will get whether it's Shane and Manny going back n forth for a few rounds, or Manny beating the sh1t outta Shane for 12 rounds.
If people choose not to watch...cool, but this bout will still do big numbers regardless.....which is a good thing for the sport of boxing.
I believe messageboards were created to post opinions and beliefs. I'm complaining because I love the sport and when I feel the sport is being misrepresented and taken advantage of, I will speak on it.
You'r an idiot dude. You can speak all you wan't doesn't mean your opinion is valid or true. You already don't like the fight to begin with so your opinion is already tainted with biasness.
