I rewatched the fight yesterday while I was at work. He was catching Segura coming in with Monsterous shots even late in the fight. Im a fan of both but like Juan Diaz if they had some good pop things COULD be different.
Yup. Calderon with power would destroy Segura, but he doesn't possess the power to really hurt him. Man, Segura doesn't even respect anything Calderon throws at him, he just walks through Calderon like nothing.
I can see Calderon winning some most of the early rounds but then Segura will start to wear him down again, and the constant pressure will break him. I don't see a way for Calderon to win really, unless he is able to nick some late rounds, and constantly be on his bike.
Segura simply doesn't respect anything Calderon throws at him. Calderon will have to put on a boxing masterclass to win this fight, and be at his best.
Segura by TKO in the 11'th.
Even though it seems like it would be a lopsided fight at this point in Ivans Career I am still excited to see this. Sometimes determination gives you the power to overcome. If Ivan were to lose should he contemplate retirement?
He didn't have any choice. Segura cut off the ring applied constant pressure and worked the body. Add to that Calderon having lost a step and I dont know what else he could have done. Calderon since the first Mayol fight has been declining and imo was lucky to escape with that draw
Don't think that Ivan will win but he would fare better. Segura had a good game plan and it worked. I think right now he has too much of everything, youth, endurance, power, size. But you have to respect skills and if Ivan is on a severe decline he will get KOed again
I think Segura is not as easy to outbox as ppl think , plus Calderon definitely lost a step or two.
I think calderon makes it his fight for a while and its successful but Segura will get to him late , maybe stop him. But I dont think Calderon can pull it off.
Exchanging when you haven't done it your whole career is a recipe for disaster. His strengths is boxing and is how he should do it. Being evasive and able to counterpunch effectively does dis-incourages the other fighter

right on the money....

of course it would be different, Thats the most lopsided Win/KO record i've seen from a reigning champion of 10 years lol, he has NO power whatsoever... hes so damn tiny!!
He should have known that the first time they fought. I think between Segura's pressure and bodywork and Ivan having lost a step he had no choice but to fight like that.
Yeah Segura is the third biggest fighter Calderon has faced and possibly the biggest power puncher. I dont know what he was thinking.
Calderon can't break an egg, this is just the way it is. Calderon is the much better boxer between him and Segura so I will expect him to hit Segura in the rematch as well. The problem is, can he keep Segura off of him for 12 rounds?
Segura is fighting at home, he's defending his title and he already KO's Calderon so his confidence is through the roof. (not that he wasn't confident before)
I don't see Calderon winning this fight unless he puts on the performance of his life.

He was trying to box the first time, but he literally could do nothing to slow Segura down. That's why he started throwing bombs, he had to.
This time around he will try to box him, he knows that he can't stop Segura.

Yup,that fight kinda reminded me of Ayalla-Morrales i wanna say.Ayalla landed some flush shots but Morrales was just too big & too strong to be bothered by the shots.
He really did catch Segura with some monster shots. Segura just walked right through them though. Hell, if Calderon had any more power he at least would have been able to keep Segura off him enough to win.
