Last week, Miguel Angel Garcia fought in an IBF final eliminator in the undercard of Gamboa-Solis. A win was going to elevate him as Gamboa's next mandatory.
The problem? His team publicly confessed that Mikey was not ready for Gamboa yet.
The other problem? He's being promoted by Top Rank. Uncle Bob doesn't feed his prospects to the wolves just like that...
The Top Rank solution: Why not have 3 champs instead of just 2 and a prospect?
Since this is in Bob's best interest, they didn't allow Gamboa to participate in the second weigh-in required by the IBF. Gamboa felt Top Rank was being unfair to him. That situation made him unhappy and frustrated since he had the required weight to keep his two belts.
He then decided to throw knives at Top Rank right after his fight during the Kellerman interview. As a response, Top Rank cancelled his post-fight press conference and didn't tell him. Gamboa went to the "press conference" and found himself alone, no one was attending.
Now the good part. As planned by Bob, another final eliminator has been mandated by the IBF. Mexicans Jorge Lacierva and Fernando Beltrán will fight to get that winning ticket. The winner will face Mikey Garcia and Garcia will finally become a champion, the easy way...
To make it short, Arum took a belt from Gamboa and gave it to Garcia. Uncle Bob is still the boss. It's sickening to know how he can manipulate the game the way he wants and get along with it. At the end of the day, the good fights never happen and the sport keeps going down.
He will now have 3 Latin champions, one Cuban, one Puerto Rican, and of course, one Mexican. Top Rank now controls the featherweight scene, it possesses all the champions and nobody else will be able to do a thing about it.
A Mexican champ in boxing has too much value, it's like a precious gem. That's why this all happened. Instead of facing Gamboa as he should, Mikey will now become a champ and a cash cow.
These 3 fighters would do awesome fights if mixed together. Instead, you can count on Uncle Bob to milk them for a few years. He will try to create a big Cuban-Boricua-Mexican rivalry, and all the fans will be suffering while those fights don't happen.
I mean, the rivalry will be fun, now Mexicans can jump in the big party and all... but this shouldn't happen this way. A promoter shouldn't have this much power. All this politic bs is bad for boxing.
About Gamboa and Lopez there was a poll about the two a few days ago. Gamboa would probably win because he's stronger in the later rounds than Lopez. I've only seen Lopez go into the 12th once gassed as all get out.
theres is a few vids on youtube that garcia says he doesnt feel like his brother is ready go find them one is on that ernie retard page and the other one is ion a spanish interview guys acting like hbo made it up pfffffffff pliz there is a reason why gamboa gave up his title
I'm sorry, but his brother Robert publicly declared in a recent interview that Mikey wasn't ready for Gamboa yet. That's where my info came from. Kellerman watched the same interview and mentioned it during the fight. Actually, I thought it was common knowledge. I won't go through youtube right now because I'm lazy but I'm pretty sure someone can go find it if really interested. Oh and of course Mikey think he's ready, he wouldn't be a fighter worth mentioning if he didn't have that winner mentality.

Confirmed. Roy Jones makes a comment about guys not wanting to fight Gamboa at about 9:55. Max Kellerman makes the comment about Garcia not being ready at about 10:10.
Good post.
It's funny how Arum (a jew) is trying to turn Cubans-Ricans-Mexicans against each other just to enrich that scumbag even more while they kill each other.
Why can't guys win the belt the correct way? That is by beating the champ, not finding loopholes and fighting lower-level contenders. If Mikey wanted the belt and Gamboa had it, then beat Gamboa himself.
Exactly. That's my problem. I don't care about the belt or anything related to it, it's the politics behind I don't like. You just can't take a belt from a champ and give it to someone else and make him a champ. If random situations made that happen there is no problem with me. But a promoter pulling strings just to have a third champion is unacceptable to me.
And for everyone saying Garcia isn't ready for Gamboa, Mikey himself and his brother Robert have said he is ready for Gamboa, but not Lopez. Funny thing is I consider Gamboa to be the better of the two.

good starting post, but who gives a fuck?
the belts are immaterial now, except at the bargaining table
Lopez is the de facto FW champion right now
Gamboa is the top challenger
whoever wins is the FW king
Gamboa don't really need a title belt now
its not about the belt like u said who gives a fok. is about top rank disrespecting gamboa like that is fokin bs
dont make it seem like mikey is avoding them.Mikey has stated he would
like to fight gamboa and juanma
again thats not what they said friday during the hbo boxer meeting, mikey has always said he is ready but his trainer has always said otherwise
where do you get your information from?are you sure garcia publicly stated that he wasn't ready for gamboa nor lopez...or is bob arum responsible as to why garcia ain't fighting gamboa
the hbo crew said tyhats what his team said on the before fight interviews
Great post, solid opinions. Would appreciate some links though. Can anyone confirm that Gamboa showed up to the conference unaware that it was cancelled? And what was TR's excuse for not allowing him to participate in the weigh in??
boxeo boricua reported that on the twitter page, if u watch his interview he is the only one in the press conference room when gamboa walks in
garcia wont be no cash cow,hes boring as hell.
unless he gets more exciting all the way through fights he wont be no earner, and if he doesnt earn to well he might just be fed to gamboa at some point.

I connect to question...:)
It crossed my mind that Gamboa intentionally didn't come to weigh-in go pass IBF belt to Mikey. I don't see any problem in that, this paper belt wasn't going to add something on Gamboa's resume, but it's needed to promote Garcia.

If the team say their guy is NOT ready, you can't accuse Arum of preventing "the good fights" from happening. If this fight happened, it OBVIOUSLY would not be a GOOD fight.
Would it?
And having 3 champs (which is not yet a "given") is good for everyone including importantly, the fighters who will have champions to fight against, instead of "guys who are not yet ready".

As you say, the "fans" might be "suffering" but the fighters won't. Arum will be making plenty of money for his fighters and for the company he's still responsible for and to, and the fans will have another champion to follow. What's wrong with that.
One thing though. The way i understand your news release, it looks as if Top Rank was able to TAKE a championship from Gamboa. If true, this should NOT be allowed. If gamboa won it fair and square, it belongs to HIM.
And can only be lost if he gives it up or loses in the ring. (or turns up overweight etc)
I still don't understand how Top Rank can do such a thing with impunity, agaiinst the wishes of the champion, Gamboa.
