Didnt see anything that would make me think hes extraordinary, he is heavy handed for a featherweight tho he should have been more aggressive earlier in that fight ppl were getting bored Remillard obviously couldnt hurt him.
I admire his 'tache.
He's another member of 'Tache Renaissance Crew.
Bradley, Alexander and this guy, Pacman.............we need a white guy now. Pavlik! Do it!
Then we but them on a poster. A picture that would transcend sport.
Alexander lost the role of black guy with a 'tache in his face off with Bradley. Bradley proving he is the superior 'tache man. They should have shaved Alexander whilst he was complaining that his eye was burning.
Every time I see his face I laugh. Sorry, but the guy just looks funny.
As for his skills, I guess he's alright? Nothing screams out impressive about him. Fights in spurts and when he's not in offense, he's also not in defense, he just stands there walking around, not even setting anything up. He has a weird style but hey if it got him to 25-0 then so far so good, he must be doing something right. Maybe now we'll see him against top featherweights.
i thought he looked OKAY. he has some work to do. i'm glad he's a patient fighter. showed maturity for his age (22). i wouldn't put him anywhere near the top guys in the division YET. maybe in a year or so but he still needs some seasoning. give the young man some rounds. some adversity. lets see him grow up in the line of fire. I think he has what it takes.
He's way too good and will KO both Juanma and gamboa at the same time. That's just the biased answers that will be on this thread and mostly from the mex crew.
funny...NO ONE had said anything like that. takes a rican to ruin a whole thread. you do realize you look like a pendejo right?
dang son, find something better to do. the hate is getting old.
I like him. I think if he had put in some body work he would have had an earlier stoppage and it's hard to tell how good he is relative to the upper tier featherweights at this point, but (that being the first time I've seen him) so far so good. Put him in against somebody a step below a Rafa next, please.:boxing:
really solid figter. might be boring to some or unpassionate like kellerman mentioned but he has all the right tools to do good things.
I was in AC for the fight, and you can hear the people getting restless. I can understand casual fans wanting every fight to be like Corrales vs Castillo fights but some people just don't understand that every fighter isn't a brawler.
everyone around him kind of concedes taking on a JuanMa or Gamboa right now is too soon so they will develope him throughout the year. My guess is him taking on Barros next
I think he should fight Broner and whoop his arse!!!!!!!
Easy win at 130 for Mikey....

He's fought some decent punchers, I think he has a good chin. He just needs more time. People want instant results, it's usually the people that have never boxed or are just casual fans.
I think for his age, lack of experience and really not wanting to box as a career, the kid is doing very well.
I really like his power though and his accuracy. He seems to connect even when the punches are blocked.
i agree, he was getting hit a lot by remillard though, he needs to REALLY improve on that. I think he'll fight some easy opponent for the vacant IBF, and start getting ready for top competition...
In the bold up there is sad because he has the tools to be good, I don't know about great, but he comes from a boxing family, his brother is a good trainer, its sad, I would've loved to have that.... (not saying he's ungreatful or anything lol)
it looked like he got a second win to me after the 6th and started fighting hard again, but he appeared to be ready. that's what I was saying earlier about seasoning, his brother tried to tell him in the corner to get him out of there.
pizza? I guess that was post weigh in lol! I didn't hear that during the fights though.
I was talking about mikey not going to the body
no before the fight he went out on his own to go get pizza and developed stomach pains from it
co sign- i thought he looked great, even though i was bored to hell, but very good prospect.....
Not ready for top competition yet IMO, people have been saying he took shots well, but he was getting tagged by a feather fist, so can't really tell yet, but he does look promising....

well, if you listened to the HBO crew last night he has absolutely no desire or heart and doesn't even like boxing, the "profession chose him, he didn't choose it" and is very boring and no one is excited about him at all.
but if you don't give a flying rats ass what those morons say, he looks to be very promising and has a lot of technical skills.
you know it's sad because they base it on the fact that he has a life outside of boxing. Comm College degree and a graduate from Ventura's Police Academy but those who know and see him work know this kid is a boxer through and through as well. He just kind of drums to his own beat
I think he is mediocre
he will never beat the elite at any weight
nothing special
He'll be a special fighter, good listener, doesn't play to the crowd. He probably wont have the biggest fan base, but he'll have the most faithful fan base.
And you sir are not invited. :fing26:
Once again it comes down to extremes in this place, should I expect anything less?
The pro Garcia people think he's the next super star, the anti Garcia people think he's trash.
The truth is, he's a solid fighter who is young and I thought showed a lot of patience out there. Some wanted him to finish the fight in about the 6th rounds but that's not his temperament. He is methodical, doesn't take chances and in the end, finished a solid pro in Remillard.
I liked what I saw and even though he can't beat JunMa or Gamboa right now, I do think his counter punching style and patience would be a tough match up for them in the future. He is very strong and a hard puncher. Seems to take a good shot as well.
Give him 2 years IMO.
