Make the first fight free and when people here about 2nd coming of Castillo Corralles you can put it on PPV and it will do 700k or better. But knowing Arum he will put the first fight on PPV and only 250k will buy it
I would buy it
But then again I am a big boxing fan and this is a fight that would deliver hands down as opposed to a Pacquiao/Mayweather fight which will never live up to it's expectations.
However It will not happen anytime soon since we all know that Top Rank wants to build these guys up as much as possible in order to get more buys and publiciity but if the fight was made in the fall it would still pull between 150 to 350 thousand buys.
But you never know.
300k at most, maybe?
250-300 i was thinking. These two are great fighters, but there are never going to be the type of fighters that are going to pull out the big numbers like mayweather, pacquiao, cotto etc. All that i know is that i would pay for it if it was the last $30 i had to my name.
need some exposures specially Gamboa in a PPV undercard. if not 200K PPV buys still hard to reach. people would stream the fight or pay $3 for a good HD stream..
Your not a Boxing fan if you do not order this fight this is the most exciting fight that can be made hands down.
You watch that cage fighting garbage and you might not even order Gamboa vs. Lopez fvck outta here.
I'll only buy it if it's on HBO. Showtime does not know how to hype fights. Did you see that horrible excuse for the Mayorga-Cotto countdown? That was pitiful. HBO is far superior at hyping people up. Far superior.
put lopez on the undercard of the margarito vs cotto II PPV fight this summer, thats the biggest PPV there is without anyone named mayweather or pacquiao. it would really help get his name out there alot more....and then do gamboa vs lopez PPV in the fall
JuanMa has way more paying fans, so it is Gamboa who needs this more...
I'd probably buy it.

Good post brother. Thanks for the numbers and links. When do you think Top Rank will give us Gamboa vs. Lopez and will it be HBO or Showtime or PPV?
There's a good chance it will be on HBO, free or PPV, I don't know. Bob Arum was just like a scorned woman when he doesn't gets his way, and took the Pacquiao/Mosley fight away from them, to teach those snut nose HBO execs a lesson that they can't mess with him.
When is it going to happen? Best case scenerio would be like the Pacquiao/Velasquez and Morales/Raheem double header. Arum can do it on free HBO by late July, like a promo for their impending PPV fight on November, at least we get to see them fight for free, and at the same night at that.
There's always the free live streaming way if worse comes to worst...
God, why are you even suggesting this be a PPV? How about asking this question "How good will the Gamboa/Lopez fight be?"
Every Boxing fan already knows this but what is keeping this fight from being made is $$$. Top Rank wants to keep building this and make it gain mainstream attention.

Should be on HBO. Gamboa isn't well known to the public yet. JuanMa is, atleast in the Puerto Rican community. Which is the only thing that should matter for him because there the ones who will buy the PPV.
Knowing Arum however it'll be on PPV. It'll do 100-200k.
I think it would do more than that depends on how Lopez looks to against Salido. You think only 10,000 buys from Cubans?
Cubans are real good in the amateurs but that doesn't translate into a big boxing fan base in the pro ranks. Look at JMM's vs. Casamayor, the PPV did 100k buys and I doubt even 5k of those buys came from Cubans.
The Cubans with the biggest fan base in the modern times were both nationalized Mexican.
Mantequilla Napoles and Sugar Ramos.
There are only 1.7 million Cubans in the US.
Cubans in Cuba can't buy PPV's.
This PPV will only do good because Puerto Rican boxing fans are p4p the best fan base in boxing.
I think the fight should be on HBO to be honest, if HBO paid $3 million for Bradley vs. Alexander I think this fights warrants that type of payday. This fight can't be boring that's for sure.
This, just like the Pacquiao vs. Marquez I was on free HBO, the 2nd installment did 400K buys, but knowing the greedy and shrewd Bob Arum, I doubt it.

It's hard to get monster PPV numbers in the lower weight class, that we all know. For comparison purposes, the Pacquiao vs. Morales trilogy did a combine 1.060M buys, or an average of 353,333 PPV buys per fight.

I'll buy this fight, if it's on PPV, what can I say, I'm a sucker for good fights. I think it will do between 200 to 260K buys, which is a success at this day and age...

This shouldn't be PPV, period... simply the biggest free fight of the year. Network TV (HBO) would pay huge $$$ for it tho so both fighters can still make a lot of money, and the winner will be introduced to stardom and top5 p4p position.
