Why does Mayweather always have to have a tune up fight?

Its pathetic how his fangirls justify it by saying "hes been off, he deserves a tune up". Do they not understand that he chooses to be inactive?

So there's no excuses if he decides to fight MP after?? Maybe because he's fought twice in the last 4-5 years?? Tune-ups are the boxing norm for fighters who have been inactive. It's not a big deal at all as long as he fights a legit opponent in his next fight and he doesn't make us wait another year to see it. Floyd should take this fight in June or July and fight again in Nov or January. He has only fought twice in the last 4-5 years because he is so afraid of losing that zero he waited til all the top guys fought each other then decided to come back. Mosley was off for almost a year and a half and fought floyd with no tuneup in between, but all the floyd fans claim that Floyd fighting him was so great but then claim that mayweather needs a tuneup after less time off then that?

it's ok for wifebeater to get a tune up for pac, but he shouldn't get paid ppv money for tune up fights.

Sugar Ray Leonard came right back after more than one year off in the ring and went right in for top guy Marvin Hagler. De La Hoya was off for a year and went right in to fight top guy Floyd, sure he lost but it wasn't a big loss by any means. One year off is not that much,especially if you are great at something or at least half as great as you claim to be. So why does he need a tuneup like making Marquez jump up two classes or going after nobodies like Spadafora? Floyd tune up gave the number one p4p fighter in the world hell, and it was a cake walk. He even dominated the man who destroyed margarito coming off a tune up... The p4p figher in the world fought clottey after losing to cotto and margarito after losing to shane, and now shane after losing to mayweather...how many tune ups are those??

For the money and not to risk the 0 on his record is all I can guess. Thats all he's interested in. Everyone on this board knows it, its clear as day but some just refuse to admit it. Some refuse to even accept it! Sad.

You are right, nobody has dominated Clottey in WW before Pac, and I mean nobody. He could have even won against Margarito had he not broken his hand in the fourth round of their fight. Clottey rose to prominence by winning his first twenty fights, including 14 by knockout. After the controversial loss to baldomir, Clottey rebounded with 10 fight winning streak highlighted by his first win on American soil and capture of several minor welterweight and middleweight titles. He has 35 wins (20 KOs), and 4 losses with 1 no contest. I don't consider anyone with that kind of record a bum.

After every retirement he comes back and beats the same guys yall say are gonna be trouble. Hatton & DLH then Mosley & Marquez. Very few could handle those combos. Be patient kid.
