If he is so great and "the greatest fighter ever" like himself and lots of his fan boys claim to be then why does he always have a tuneup fight? Sugar Ray Leonard came right back after more than one year off in the ring and went right in for top guy Marvin Hagler. De La Hoya was off for a year and went right in to fight top guy Floyd, sure he lost but it wasn't a big loss by any means. One year off is not that much, especially if you are great at something or at least half as great as you claim to be. So why does he need a tuneup like making Marquez jump up two classes or going after nobodies like Spadafora?
mosley and marquez are tune ups for floyd but the best available fights for the #1 boxer in the sport. What is life like in delusion land?
Marquez at 135 as opposed to 147, I know your biased but i'm sure you can see the difference
So there's no excuses if he decides to fight MP after?? Maybe because he's fought twice in the last 4-5 years?? Tune-ups are the boxing norm for fighters who have been inactive. It's not a big deal at all as long as he fights a legit opponent in his next fight and he doesn't make us wait another year to see it. Floyd should take this fight in June or July and fight again in Nov or January.
He has only fought twice in the last 4-5 years because he is so afraid of losing that zero he waited til all the top guys fought each other then decided to come back. Mosley was off for almost a year and a half and fought floyd with no tuneup in between, but all the floyd fans claim that Floyd fighting him was so great but then claim that mayweather needs a tuneup after less time off then that?
mayweather is obviously lazy. picking fighters he knows will be easy
he knows pacquiao will make him work for 12 rounds and he doesnt like that
just look around the workplace and you'll know why!
tsk .... tsk .... tsk .... those qualities are embedded in their dna
seriously tho, the spada thing is just dumb. he shouldnt be fighting him, that simple.
but how many guys can claim jmm as a tune up??? and what are u guys gonna call him when manny fights him at 147, as he almost certainly will after the mosely fight??? if u guys dont come out and complain about that, then ur definitely being hypocrites.
Dumb FLIP!

Floyd tune up gave the number one p4p fighter in the world hell, and it was a cake walk. He even dominated the man who destroyed margarito coming off a tune up...
The p4p figher in the world fought clottey after losing to cotto and margarito after losing to shane, and now shane after losing to mayweather...how many tune ups are those??
In an interview with Brian Kenny on ESPN, prior to Mayweather’s fight with Juan Manuel Marquez in 2009, Kenny asked Mayweather why he chose to return to the ring.
Mayweather responded, “’Cause I want to. ‘Cause I want to come back and steal some more money.”
That's why fight fans must not buy this fight to show Floyd that boxing doesnt need him anymore i think that would hurt him the most and push him to fight sergio or pacman.
i dont get it either.....ray leonard who fought hagler right away after comin off retiremnt is a good example......****, even shane mosely was inactive for 16 months and he did'nt need a tune up prior to facing floyd.....floyd just does'nt have the warrior mentality, he just does'nt....

Actually, Mosley was a legit fight for Floyd but is being considered a stay busy fight right now for Pacquiao so go figure.
makes you wonder how long fanboys would see it. floyd came back for the money. phuk this thing called legacy. when he retired he was content in being the spectator rather than the spectacle. he was a big pactard. he enjoys watching the pacman. he never thougth the demand to fight him would be huge. i for one didn't either. he said something nice about the pacman. but heck with the pacman subject. pacman has become irrelevant in lil floyd's life. he wants none of him. so now he's on his own doing his own thing. this is all his decision. there's no arum for him to decide which he fights next. it's all his.

He uses people like Marquez as tune ups.Marquez was pound for pound number 2,was robbed against Pacquiao who was considered number one.So what more do you want from the guy?
For the money and not to risk the 0 on his record is all I can guess.
Thats all he's interested in. Everyone on this board knows it, its clear as day but some just refuse to admit it. Some refuse to even accept it! Sad.
you all saying Clottey's fight was a B.S.? Clottey was top 5 Welterweight when Pac fought him and nobody really dominated the guy in a welterweight. Pac just made him look like a bum. Clottey is a counter puncher with great defense. i didnt know fighting a true welterweight in a welterweight division where no man ever dominated him was a B.S. fight.
You are right, nobody has dominated Clottey in WW before Pac, and I mean nobody.
He could have even won against Margarito had he not broken his hand in the fourth round of their fight.
Clottey rose to prominence by winning his first twenty fights, including 14 by knockout. After the controversial loss to baldomir, Clottey rebounded with 10 fight winning streak highlighted by his first win on American soil and capture of several minor welterweight and middleweight titles.
He has 35 wins (20 KOs), and 4 losses with 1 no contest.
I don't consider anyone with that kind of record a bum.
After every retirement he comes back and beats the same guys yall say are gonna be trouble. Hatton & DLH then Mosley & Marquez. Very few could handle those combos. Be patient kid.
I never said he doesn't beat these guys, his record would prove me wrong, all i'm saying is that with his habit of 'retiring' after every fight whats to say he won't do it after this supposed fight?

People know what it is... don't take what some say on here seriously.
