Dedicated for sure. I watch basketball and football as well and this is just one of the sports that I love to watch. I mostly watch old fights every day if I have nothing else to do.
Dedicated. I have no idea where I could find footage of older fighters so my knowledge of boxing is limited previous to the 80s other than 70s heavyweights. I've seen most the fights that mattered, but not all.
I see mostly everything now.
I had lost interest in boxing in the mid 90's when I saw a college kid get killed in the ring. I'm only now getting interested again because of the dissrespect that is directed at Mexicans by the HBO commentators, on youtube, boxingscene, etc. Approximately a little over a year ago I didn't know who Calderon, Segura, Guerrero, JuanMa, Katsidis, etc, etc were.
What kind of a boxing fan are you?
An objective realist.
I watch fights when possible and having time. I don't really care what fight, and I'm not seeking them all the time.
dedicated.
I watch all the big fights and all the UK-based televised cards.
I can't be hardcore because I have Chelsea and a girlfriend and a job, and I'm a writer. Not enough hours in the day.
i follow my favorite fighters and watch fights, which includes fighters at a certain level.
With the way the matchmaking is, more often then not, its a mismatch and boring as hell.
have watched some historical fights, but in general, history doesnt interest me and likewise with boxing history.
Fck!
Am i the only CASUAL FAN here?
I would have voted casual fan but The preceeding sentence i disagree because even if a fight is hyped up, if it doesn't interest me i still don't want or care about it.
I did get hyped up too and got disappointed several times like, the recents only, pac-clottey, fmj-marquez...darn! i really hate those fights for the reason that I PAID FOR IT! SH!T! It still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth whenever i recall i got robbed in broad daylight...fck!fck!FCK!
"Dedicated fan".
Depending on the schedule, I watch 0-5 fights every weekend. On top of that, I follow boxing news and usually watch 1 old fight every week.
Just wondering.
ALSO: How much do you appreciate the history of the sport? Do you go back and track down fights to watch?
More than hard core!
And I appreciate the history and there are few fights I haven't seen already.
Used to be hardcore for a couple years, now I'd say I just watch the big fights, maybe. I was really into it for some time but then even after trying not to, I got tired of how stupid and petty the headlines are and how pussed out all the fighters always are. Not to mention having to wait a year and a half to have people fight, and more often than not the fight being boring. After reading enough petty headlines like " says: I know my opponent likes lollipops so when I knock him out I'll be sure to give him one!" and other silly crap I just though "Wow...people actually read through this crap daily for about a year and a half and even obsess over it to unimaginable levels, waiting just to see two guys hit each other for a maximum of 36 minutes...I can't do this anymore." I hate to insult the sport but it insults itself enough. I still love it for training three times a week and self defense though, and I still love watching the old fighters but other than that it's just ruined.
hardcore fan....
without boxing, i'm just another p0rn addicted loser with no direction in life.
boxing makes my life complete. it fills a void in my heart the size of my ex-wife's gaping vagina.
when my soul cries, the punches of these pugilistic gods washes away the despair and dries the tears from the wounded spirit of yours truly.
long live boxing :boxing:
I cant seem to place my vote there in the poll.... I dont particularly follow a certain fighter, i watch those i deem are good matches, and most good (read: better boxing match) fights for me are not hyped. I don't care if i watch it live or a rerun just to feel the fight.... i do the braining after with my mind not with the mouth... so maybe i'm a casual fan, but i happen to follow each history up until the latest fight of a match and i can say i have a better grasp of that than most posers out here that claims to be a walking wiki.....
