Interesting prediction video by boxing analyst dwyer70905 on the upcoming James DeGale vs George Groves fight. As the prediction unravels, Dwyer explains that DeGale (Boxrec #18) may today possess the ability to defeat Andre Dirrel (Boxrec #2), Lucian Bute (Boxrec #1) and Mikkel Kessler (Boxrec #6).
New poll idea:
Could James Degale beat Stephen Hawking, Jennifer Lopez and the midget from the film Willow?
I think he'd beat Lopez and the dwarf, but Hawking would ride rings around him.
I like Dwyer's videos, but take what he says with a pinch of salt. He likened Paul McCloskey's skillset to Floyd Mayweather's not too long ago.
At any rate, no, DeGale doesn't beat any of those guys. Paul Smith isn't a good measuring stick for how he'd fare against elite fighters.
Why do people hinge on Dwyers every word? Yes, he does get a lot of fights right and has good insight but he certainly is not right all the time. He's just a knowledgeable fan but some people take his word as if it were gold.
Yeah, and a lot of the time, he's WAY off. He does a lot of hedging, or straddling, or whatever he calls it. Where best case scenario, you win a very minimal amount, and worst case scenario, you break even. I've done that myself, when the situation is right for it. Where you can bet 1 of the fighters straight (to win) at less than, say, 2/1 odds, and bet the opposing fighter to win, say, inside the distance, at good + odds.
Donaire/Montiel is a good example. You could have bet Donaire straight, and Montiel inside the distance (idea being that Montiel's only chance to win was by KO).
Then there are other situations that I feel like he completely misses out on some value. Like Bradley/Alexander. He suggested a straight wager on Bradley, and an inside the distance wager on Alexander. I was on these boards (and a couple of other boards), suggesting that people play Bradley straight, with the UNDER (I ended up with Bradley straight -190, and the under 9.5 rounds +400, but you could have played under 11.5 at like +275ish at some books). Because I felt like people were completely forgetting about the headbutt factor. Had fool's taken my advice, they would have scooped both bets, as the UNDER 9.5 rounds was a winner by a mere 30 seconds.
I'm not hating on Dwyer, because he's just trying to make a buck. But there are a lot of people out there that could start their own youtube channel, write a "how to bet on boxing" book, and come out MUCH more in the green, than he does.
I doubt he would be able to leap frog and get a title fight with only 10 fights to his name. Magee still has the euro belt which earned him the right to fight for a title.
Anyway im looking forward to the fight should be a goodun.:boxing:
Yeah I can't wait.
I'm backing George to make some noise. Just seems like a decent fella, but James should be a level above him.
If DeGale beats Groves easily then he might as well leap frog a guy like Magee and target guys like Sartison and Stieglitz.

Id have to disagree there, he's been in with Froch & Bute ok who he lost to but they are the best in the world at there weights.
I agree with his experience.
But we've already seen DeGale get hit on the chin a few times. It's held up fine and the word seems to be he has a great chin anyway. But I think Groves will land on it and it will still be interesting to see what happens, and then there is whole beef they have.
