people do critisize mannys recent fights but in reality look
clottey-cotto-he fought both
margo-shane-he fought margo and is fighting shane
he was accused of ducking shane and shane even said hed fight at 142-143(which manny wouldve gotten 0 credit for)..mannys fighting him at the full ww limit 147
margo fight was at 150 but manny gave up alot of size in that fight and brutally beat him
manny may not be a slick defensive wizard but he is a REAL fighter meaning he doesnt care he just wants to fight and when he gets hit his reaction is like "ok lets go"
its time to stop the blind hate and appreciate fighters(and that goes for the floyd haters to)
floyd may be caught up in his self but the boy got skills..str8 up skills..
who wins between the 2 if they ever fight..well thats what the world wants
to see..
PLEASE NO FLAMING IN THIS THREAD
Cant say that Im bothered by the choice. I just find it peculiar that Fans of Manny continuously down play Mayweather/Mosley over age and big up Pac/Mosley over a year later. I rarely judge Pac unfairly but his fan base needsto be more consistent. But all in all he's as great as it gets for what he's accomplished.
i 100 percent agree
And Mora just got his ass whupped by Brian Vera, who was 1-4 since beating Andy Lee
...
Let's not forget Mora didn't have a legit fight in two years when he fought Shane..
But he's 1-1 with the worst version of Vernon Forrest! The guy who when in prime beat Shane! Yay! Becauseeeeee that means something
people say he had a draw with mora..but mora beat the gut who beat him 2 times..vernon forrest..granted a older version..but still..

The problem with him picking Shane is that Arum gave him 3 choices, Marquez, undefeated Berto, or Shane, and the fans wanted either Marquez or Berto, but Pacquiao looked the other way and picked Shane, instead of the guy with no losses or the guy who's last loss was to Floyd and besides that he's been on a roll knocking guy out, Marquez has. He picked the oldest one, the one with that has looked bad the most recent. Arum said, he did not pick who Pacquiao should fight, it was Pacquiao's choice of those 3 fighters. Mosley was calling out Pacquiao in late 2009-early 2010, and Roach said Mosley is too good, then a loss to Floyd and a Draw to Mora, he's the perfect opponent for Pacquiao.
if u tryna make a point at least get ur facts straight. Pacquiao had Cotto late 2009 and Mosley already signed to fight Berto in early 2010, what you meant to say was early-mid 2009. and even then, Pacquiao only fought 1 'welter' Oscar, and that nicca aint no welter so they chose to hit up Cotto as their 1st real welterweight, after that Mosley signed to fight Berto, it aint like Pac been avoiding cat for 3-4 years like u niccas try to make it seem.
and bruh, you know koncz spewing that sh-t in mannys ear, he is his adviser, and who does he listen to? it all comes back to Arum.
not the greatest fight to make, I rather see Berto, but Berto is who? so I get it. Marquez shouldve been the choice.
My two favorite fighter so I will definitely be watching. Yeah I would have liked it more last before this but oh well. Also if Berto wins which he should, he should be in line for Pacquiao next considering Floyd does not become active again. Even if Floyd does come back he would have a tune up first which would leave Berto open for Pacquiao in the meantime.

If Floyd-Manny fought the safe and smart choice would be Floyd.
But, Manny would be far and away the best fighter he has ever been against and I wouldnt be surprised if Manny overwhelmed Floyd and won.
If I were forced to bet though I would pick Floyd.
i agree with all but the bold.
first bold is that shane could have made more do that (like many fighters have, most recently vera). the size difference was bad, but its not like shane was using quickness and footwork. manny certainly doesn't "stand right in front of you". if anyone believes that they are fukn crazy, so manny is a bad fight for shane too.
second bold, i think it was a good win for floyd, but you can also say that shane was old and to me it looked like he gave up in that fight, you'd think he'd come out looking to prove something vs mora, which he didn't look to do, hence my belief that shane doesn't have it in him any more.
Manny moves a good amount in his fights, that's no secret, but for a guy who throws what? 70 - 90 punches a round on average for his last 3 fights (I'm sure someone has the numbers) that means he engages, this obviously indicates he stands in close enough range. If we're comparing him to Mora, I don't see Manny throwing a 1-2 and moving completely out of distance. But yeah, I agree with you, if Manny wants to box Mosley, he could emulate a Mora-esque performance, but I don't see that - I think Manny likes throwing, he's gonna be there to throw.
Personally am not mad at all, There isnt a lot of great options to choose from but i laughed though when the fight was annouced because for months we heard how Mayweather would never fight Mosley, Then after the fight we heard about how Mosley was shot to pieces then Pacquiao pounce on that shot to pieces but still a NAMED fighter, Like a hyena going after the weak.
I never said that Shane couldn't have pulled it off if he had been 5 years (or whatever) younger. I just said at that point (2010) it was a bad match-up of styles. Shane, lets just call it how it is, likes guys to stand in front of him, Mora was never built like that, let alone would do that against a puncher like Shane. GB f*cked up, that fight sucked, on top of that, they had Shane move up in weight, 154 ain't for him and we know that. As far as Floyd goes, well that's just Floyd, can you really downgrade that win aside from Mosley coming off a 15 month layoff, which is the stupidest thing to do before going against a top notch fighter.

mora can be forced to fight, and frequently is, a younger shane would have made that a good fight and won handily. he let mora disctate since he can't pull the trigger anymore and his legs are shot.

Yes. I do think that some of you are selling Mayweathers win over Mosley short, you think its just that f*ckin easy to neutralize one the best welterweights in the last decade? And Sergio Mora? stylistically "wtf?" are the only words that come to mind.
I've come to realize that some of you are under the impression that Shane Mosley is going to forget how to fight on May 7th.
