would any of you guys consider a pac vs martinez fight at 154 same day weigh-in a legit fight? Meaning the weigh-in is on the same day of the fight, just like in the old days. (btw, this isn't my idea. it was first said by ivan49).
would you consider this a fair fight?
Sergio would STILL have something like a 10 pound advantage....from the sounds of things thats too much size for Manny to be giving away to a fighter like Sergio....I understand BOTH sides....Manny is too small for dude....thats FACT!!!....but its NOT the ONLY reason this fight won't happen....STYLES make fights....Marg was too big IMO but he had the right STYLE
The fight would basically turn out something close to Pacquiao vs De La Hoya. Same day weigh-in means Martinez would fight at a significant disadvantage. I don't think he'd be able to last 12 rounds with Amir Khan, let alone Pacquiao.
Sergio fans say "why Pacquiao won't defend his jr MW title against legit jr MW Champion?"
If you put a rule to weigh 154 at fight night, then they would say "Martinez is MW, he ain't no jr MW, he would be drained, he must be given one day to dehydrate to 170 lbs as he always does"
If that happens, Pac weighing in at a fit 145 will be pouncing to death in just a over minute a totally dehydrated Sergio weighing 154.
Not fair.
Not Fair. Pac will kill Sergio.
i'd say 157 lbs same day weigh in, 4 hours before the fight. Pac will come in 148 lbs while Sergio will be 160.
I wouldn't have a problem with it, but Sergio would have an advantage size wise of course.
Every weigh-in should be on the same day as the fight, about 6h before they step into the ring.
It's never a fair fight making someone naturally so much smaller face a bigger guy, but it happens.
Pac is that good and can fight a couple of divisions above where he should be.
No-one would agree to a weigh in like that. Martinez would be so drained and no chance to rehydrate safely.
interesting point.

I seriously doubt it could physically happen.
But, honestly same day weigh-in should be a rule.
It would eliminate all the BS, with catch-weights and all that nonsense.
