manny doesn't pay 2 promoters. :dunce: 1 promoter pays the other a percentage of what they make. either way both were calculated by the promoters. with pac , arum calculated that signing manny even with litigation costs and eventually sharing a percentage with gbp was better than losing him outright to gbp. (i still believe that gbp's contract was legit and arum's was not.) with donaire , gbp is just messing with tr. they don't even care if tr's contract is still valid or not. (just like arum didn't care with pac's gbp contract) 1. they either steal donaire outright or 2. it goes to court and tr's fighter is stuck in limbo. either way gbp hurts top rank. A) I don't think either DLH or Schaefer are smart enough to have this as the reason. I think they just saw what they thought was an opening and went for it without doing their homework. B) Even if that is the case and GBP is just 'messing' with TR, it's going to cost them legal fees and maybe even a settlement for breach of contract, wages lost, etc. Not only that, but it further damages the relationship between the 2 promotional companies and widens their rift. At least after they settled the Pacquiao dispute with mediation, they buried the hatchet and started co-promoting more. This will basically kill any chance of that happening in the future.

I don't see why. He's still under a valid and enforceable contract to Top Rank, and unless they want to let him go -which I doubt- Oscar can whistle. I spent over 4 years working in a law office when young, and still recall a little about contracts, apart from much life experience since. u say hes under valid contract, obviously his lawyers think otherwise. there has to be a reason they do. its not as easy as u think.

The Manny P. situation ended with Golden Balls getting (by mutual agreement) a very small percentage-I believe 5%- which saved a lot of time out of Manny's career and was cheaper than the legal fees. Arum even had a clause in Manny's contract which forbade him to even discuss contracts with any other promoter until his own contract was up, which -like Donaire's- it still wasn't. I believe that the Judge will rule that the contract, which is still in force until June 25th, is VALID, and will be extended by the injury times out, plus the option for the year extension all of which is in the legal and binding contract. Both of which you have mentioned. They are trying to get out by saying that the contract is up (or will be up) and ignoring the injury time extension and the extra year option AT TOP RANK'S choice, by saying that they were guaranteed 3 fights a year. But the CONTRACT says that they are to be OFFERED 3 fights a year (quite a different thing), and that they WERE offered the fights but weren't able to comply because of the injuries. .
